A nine race program has been set down for Morphettville Parks this Saturday. The weather is fine, the track is soft (6) and the rail is in the true position for the entire circuit.

Race 1. (12:37) Croser (Bm80) 2250m
3 The Nephew (Bet Now: $SP.00) should be taking care of these. Patrick Payne trained gelding that ran over 2000m at Flemington two weeks ago where he got back to near last and in a race where those on speed dominated, I thought he did a very good job to close off well like he did behind Shaiyhar. Like him up in trip and there is just nothing in this race. He has a bit on them.
5 Bellavardo (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a Richards/Moyle trained mare that has been up a little while but is holding her form pretty well. Last couple of runs have come over 2200m at Balaklava, winning two back in good style before racing there again last Wednesday where she took forever to wind into her work but was very good to the line when third to Love From Lucy. Has run well in town before and the depth, as a whole, isn’t deep.
4 Smiling Assassin (Bet Now: $SP.00) can be hit and miss at times but if this becomes a staying test, a slog, he will be one of the strongest late. He ran two weeks back in the Hasta La Fiorente race from Murray Bridge where he got back to near last and was never a threat but did make up solid ground when third. Spots them a decent start here but should be strong at the end.
Race 2. (13:12) Thomas Farms Mdn Plate 1250m
9 Without Envy (Bet Now: $SP.00) should be winning. Danny O’Brien trained mare that resumes, having not raced since September 4 at Geelong when attempting to lead throughout and giving a strong kick but couldn’t quite finish it off when second to Desiah, who has run well in town since. Just one soft jumpout but surely, he has this average lot covered.
1 Braveman’sgame (Bet Now: $SP.00) is having start two for Michael Hickmott after debuting last Saturday on the course proper here where he tried his guts out from near the speed but couldn’t quite finish it off and was nabbed late by Tres Belle. Should take good improvement from that and overall, this race is very much on the thin side.
7 Reptilian (Bet Now: $SP.00) should appreciate a rise to 1200m. Did more than enough on debut behind Surprise Coming before going to 1050m at Balaklava when getting the suck run behind the speed and tried hard but couldn’t finish the race off and had her chance behind Shosanna. Bred to appreciate further and stable is flying at the moment. Leading contender.
Race 3. (13:47) Spring At Morphettville (Bm82) 1550m
2 Exalted Fire (Bet Now: $SP.00) seems the straight bat option for Michael Hickmott. He ran two weeks ago over 1800m at Murray Bridge where he led throughout and the ride from Rawiller was an absolute peach. He got complete control on the gelding and turned it into a sit/sprint, where he was always going to come out on top and was too good. Not the best of records on the Parks track but hard to knock how well he’s going.
5 Oath Of Omerta (Bet Now: $SP.00) should appreciate a rise to 1550m for Michael Hickmott. This guy resumed over 1400m two weeks back at Murray Bridge where he got back to near last in the run and I actually thought he found the line nicely in a good return behind the very talented Validated. Good second up record and up in trip, good upside, he only runs well.
4 Disagreeable Miss (Bet Now: $SP.00) should appreciate a rise in trip for Mick Huxtable. This mare resumed two weeks back over 1400m at Murray Bridge where she got back to near last in the run and while she was never a threat, she did make up headway and was far from disgraced in defeat. Might want one more and a further rise in trip, but she has more upside than most and will be strong at the end.
Race 4. (14:22) Pfd Food Services (Bm82) 1000m
1 Keep Reading (Bet Now: $SP.00) has found winning form and he can certainly go on with it. Team Jolly trains this gelding, who ran two weeks ago at Murray Bridge where the late market push said he was there to rock and roll and that was the case. He sat on speed and gave them a spanking in an impressive display. He’s found a win, he’s found positive form…the one to beat.
6 Classy Kenny (Bet Now: $SP.00) is bursting to win another race for the Hickmott/Riggs camp. He is three weeks between runs since racing over 1200m on the course proper here, working home strongly late from off the speed but couldn’t quite get the win when second to Jack The Lad. Fast run 1000m should be up his alley and be stronger than most at the end.
4 Aadelad (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a knockout hope. He was big odds two weeks back at Murray Bridge where he got back in the small field but came with a well timed run and finished off strongly to run second to Keep Reading. He’s a horse that I couldn’t back to win but for wider multiples, I can certainly entertain him.
Race 5. (14:57) Winning Edge (Rs0ly) 1250m
3 Run Like Hell (Bet Now: $SP.00) looks the straight bat option in an even race. Maddie Raymond trains this mare, who has done little wrong in a three start career. She was second up when racing over 1100m at Geelong when ridden with a sit and finished off strongly when a narrow second to Demando. Hard fit, can settle near the speed and she does have a bit of talent. Leading chance.
6 Our Shining Star (Bet Now: $SP.00) has only won the one race but Team Jolly has her racing well and she can certainly take this out. Market took a set against her at Murray Bridge a fortnight back and while she didn’t win, I thought she found the line well enough in defeat behind Alpine Flyer. Backing her to win is a tough ask, but I think she’ll be around the mark.
8 Bajan Belle (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a proven Saturday metro performer so I wouldn’t be penning her. She ran at the midweeks at Gawler last time when near the speed throughout and she tried her guts out but couldn’t quite finish it off behind McCain. She has been hit and miss this prep but we know her best is good enough to take this out.
Race 6. (15:37) Happy 88Th B'day B Macey-Bm70 1250m
2 Chicago Storm (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a David Aldridge trained gelding that resumes. This guy is first up, having not raced since April 22 over 1400m here when a strong third in a Stakes race, the City Of Adelaide, behind My Khalifa, who was flying at the time. He saves his best for the Parks track, bomb fresh horse and has trialled well leading in. Hard to beat.
7 Cool Magnum (Bet Now: $SP.00) has had two runs back from a spell, both at 1200m, so he’s had an ideal grounding for this. He was a well supported favourite when racing a fortnight back at Murray Bridge. He attempted to lead throughout and gave a strong kick but was no match late for Left Hand Man. Hard fit now, he appeals.
9 Bonnie Gangster (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a quality mare for Grant Kluske that should prove hard to beat against these. This mare was big odds when resuming three weeks ago on the course proper here and after a lovely ground saving ride from Potter, gee she was impressive late the way she dashed clear and maintained a decent margin. Room for improvement big time and off that win, she appeals.
Race 7. (16:17) Kerry O'brien T'breds (Rs0mw) 1550m
5 Whatsanamegeorge (Bet Now: $SP.00) is third up from a spell and should just about be at peak fitness. Team Jolly trained gelding that ran over 1400m two weeks ago at Murray Bridge. He did early work to land near the speed and I reckon that early burn beat him in the end when beaten a lip by Headphones. He’s hard fit now and I think with a more economical run, 1550m is fine.
6 Rubini (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a key threat I feel. He is one with upside/progression and comes here off a win, which came in a maiden at Murray Bridge when letting down nicely from off the speed to get the job done, though I will say he wore down Valentina Charm, and I reckon a crying baby would be tougher than Valentina Charm, so a little query on the form, but that can be said about most of these.
3 Oceanography (Bet Now: $SP.00) has had a couple of 1400m runs under the belt and I do think a rise to 1550m is a big tick. He ran two weeks back in the Headphones race where he got back off the speed and didn’t really quicken but stayed on and was solid to the line without threatening. His 1600m record is great, so 1550m here is ideal and has a bit of upside to come.
Race 8. (16:52) Tab (Bm62) 1000m
5 Sabermetric (Bet Now: $SP.00) tends to save his best for the Parks track and second up from a spell, I think he is a big improver here. He resumed on the course proper three weeks ago when back in the run and did make up headway but was never really a threat behind Merchant Boss, who ran super on Saturday, so the form reads well and back to his favourite track, he appeals.
6 Geminga (Bet Now: $SP.00) will jump on the bunny and give them something to chase. She resumes for Maddie Raymmond after ending last prep on a high with an on speed win in a 900m scamper at Mount Gambier. Draws gate one so she should find the front, run and give them something to chase. Last bit will test but she’ll look the winner for a long way.
2 Lonrodex (Bet Now: $SP.00) looks ready to win for mine. Matty Seyers trained gelding that has been pretty good in two runs back from a spell, the latest coming two weeks ago at Murray Bridge when attempting to lead throughout and did look the winner for a long way, but couldn’t quite finish it off when nabbed late by Oracle Son. Good racing style, hard fit, he’ll take beating.
Race 9. (17:30) Galvanising Industries (Bm68) 1400m
14 Lord Luker (Bet Now: $SP.00) will do me in the get out. Clarken/O’Shea trained gelding that is third up from a spell. Resumed with a big win over this track/distance before going to Murray Bridge two weeks ago when back near last in the run and while he was never a threat, I liked the way he found the line late in the piece behind Headphones. If he can settle closer in the run, he’ll take beating.
13 Knightstown (Bet Now: $SP.00) finds it very hard to win a race but I think he is going well enough to command respect. Forgive and forget the run a fortnight back at Murray Bridge given he was nearer the inside, which was quicksand, and he just couldn’t get involved behind Left Hand Man. Think the rise to 1400m is fine and if he gets the rub of the green, he is good enough to be around the mark.
2 Prince Jofra (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a very interesting runner. He’s having his first run for Travis Doudle, his last run coming on June 3 over 1950m on the Parks track when just off the speed but didn’t fire at all when asked and was a bit on the plain side behind Montepulciano. He might need the run but at his best, he is certainly good enough to take this out.
