A nine race program has been assembled for Doomben on Saturday. The weather is fine, the track is good (4) and the rail is out a half metre for the entire circuit.

Race 1. (11:43) Brc Membership (Bm70) 1050m
16 Miss Tambo (Bet Now: $SP.00) tends to race well on the fresh side so first up here, I am happy to be in her corner. This mare is first up, having not raced since March 18 at Doomben over 1200m when back near last in the run and was never a factor behind Stormy Rock. Short course racing looks her go in life IMO and her recent trial was quite good. Think she can resume with a bang.
6 Immoral (Bet Now: $SP.00) was maligned once upon a time but he’s found a purple patch, winning his past two. Lovely ride from Jones saw him win two back during the Rockhampton Carnival before going to this track/distance when getting the dream sit behind the speed before Orman angled into clear and the horse finished best to score. Tricky draw but hard to knock the way he’s racing.
7 Motomiss (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a Lindsay Hatch trained mare that resumes. She is first up, having not raced since April 22 over 1200m here when producing an end of prep run, finishing down the track behind Self Indulgent, who was flying at the time. Has won fresh in the past and didn’t mind her recent trial at Toowoomba, so watch the market.
Race 2. (12:18) Mount Franklin (Bm75) 1350m
3 Ayahuasca (Bet Now: $SP.00) is third up from a spell and should just about be at peak fitness. Tony Gollan trained mare that was a real eye catcher first up at Eagle Farm behind stablemate Black On Beauty before going to Eagle Farm again when back in the run and failed to make up any real headway. Is a winner at the track and this looks a very winnable race for her if she brings her best.
5 Deep Rouge (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a key threat. This mare was close up here two back behind Ned’s Gully before going to Eagle Farm a fortnight back when off the speed and failed to make up any real headway behind Bubba’s Bay. The obvious query is 1350m but if this race is turned into a sit/sprint, she has the change up speed to be quite effective.
6 Star Of Chaos (Bet Now: $SP.00) has the runs on the board to be given some level of respect. Tony Gollan trains this former Victorian mare, that resumed here at the midweeks when wide no cover for the trip and the hard run just told late behind Ned’s Gully, who won last Saturday to frank the form. Back to Mares grade, fitter, up in trip, she’s good enough to win.
Race 3. (12:53) Country Music Raceday 9/9-Bm70 1350m
1 Acres Away (Bet Now: $SP.00) has become a winning machine for Tom Smith and he’s established himself as a metro class performer given his win two weeks ago at Eagle Farm when giving them a start and a beating in an impressive display. That followed a sharp performance during the Mackay Carnival so now he’s proven himself in town, he can certainly go on with it, with 1350m being no issue at all.
8 Planned Encounter… (Bet Now: $SP.00) is she any good? Time will tell. Big odds when debuting at this track/distance at the midweeks and despite having no friends in the market, she launched late out wide to finish over the top for a big win. Bred to appreciate ground and does have the 1350m lead up run, which holds her in good stead.
7 Aristella (Bet Now: $SP.00) is racing like a rise to 1350m will be ideal. She is on the quick back up after racing on Sunday at the Sunny Coast where she was run off her legs early but she picked up and balanced into the straight to launch late, just missing out on picking up Highbar. Off that, extra 150m is ideal and for me is one of the main contenders.
Race 4. (13:28) Sky Racing (Rs0mw) 1600m
13 Rosovo (Bet Now: $SP.00) has to be given another chance. Jack Bruce has this former Godolphin horse, who ran last Saturday at Eagle Farm and just forget he went around. He got too far back in the run and was never a factor despite making up good ground. Think with a more positive ride, can settle closer in the run and be in with a serious shout.
6 Prime Impact (Bet Now: $SP.00) deserves a crack in town for Kris Lees. He has been racing on the North Coast/Hunter in NSW and has been too good for them, the latest a win over the mile at Newcastle when there to be beaten but he found under pressure to win. Harder here, but hard to knock the way he is racing at the moment.
4 Full Press (Bet Now: $SP.00) is one I can entertain for wider multiples. He comes back to the mile after racing over 2000m at Coffs Harbour in the Ken Howard Cup where he ran a brave race but just found the trip a bridge too far behind Roller Coaster. Much better suited at the mile and with the 2000m run under the belt, it should hold him in good stead.
Race 5. (14:03) Xxxx (Bm70) 2000m
6 Cash Me (Bet Now: $SP.00) is racing like a rise to 2000m here will suit. He ran last Wednesday at this track/distance when on speed throughout and just lacked the change up speed to put them away, run down late by Galifianakis. He has that 2000m run under the belt, which should hold him in good stead for this assignment.
3 Coup De Tonnerre (Bet Now: $SP.00) is the one with good upside and appeals. He ran over 1800m three weeks ago at Eagle Farm when met with good market support. Landed on speed and tried his guts out but couldn’t quite get there when third to Nikau Spur. Hard fit now and up to 2000m, perhaps with a more conservative steer, he’ll take beating.
8 So Bene (Bet Now: $SP.00) has been pretty good since joining David Vandyke from Andrew Clarken in SA. Latest run was last Wednesday at this track/distance where she took forever to wind into her work but was good to the line when a close up third. If this becomes more of a staying contest, she is the proven stayer and will be stronger than most late.
Race 6. (14:38) Drinkwise Plate (C3) 1200m
6 Rainbow Connection (Bet Now: $SP.00) should appreciate a rise to 1200m. Matty Dunn trained gelding that resumed at Eagle Farm a fortnight back when a well backed favourite and if you were on him, you would have felt let down, but he wasn’t suited by the sit/sprint set up. 1200m, more genuine tempo, good upside, it all points to him running a beauty. Keen.
14 Thelwell (Bet Now: $SP.00) has only won the one race in his 15 start career but is racing really well at present. They rode him with a sit several weeks ago at Doomben and it worked as he sat off the genuine speed and found the line strongly, just missing out on the win when a narrow second to all the way winner Orbisyn. The end of 1200m, with a sit, I think will be okay, and is a leading chance.
12 Jayanthi (Bet Now: $SP.00) is in with a shout if the favourite is off his game. She’s had a couple of runs for O’Dea/Hoysted, both here. Latest was at this trip when giving them a start and a beating in an impressive display. Harder here, not sure she wins, but she can certainly finish top four in a race that is thin outside the favourite.
Race 7. (15:17) Ladbroke It (Bm85) 1110m
10 Hatchet (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a ripper and seems the straight bat option. Rob Heathcoate trained gelding that let down with a barnstorming finale to win two back at Doomben, nailing Zarastro in a hot form race. He then went here two weeks ago and worked home with purpose, just missing out on the win when a narrow second to Black On Beauty. He’s a ripper, so genuine, finds the line…he’ll do me.
11 Red Rubi (Bet Now: $SP.00) is knocking on the door to win for O’Dea/Hoysted. She ran over 1000m at the Sunny Coast last time when back off the speed and found the line with purpose when third to Superare, clocking some of the better late splits of the meeting. Tricky draw, but I think she’s quite dangerous if within range.
3 Dalavin (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a beauty for Brett Robb and should be around the mark. He landed late bets at odds two weeks back at Eagle Farm, driving hard late nearer the inside and in a close finish, he was strongest on the line in a good win. Back up in trip should be fine, he has versatility re racing pattern, and strikes another winnable race.
Race 8. (15:57) Spring Carnival On Sale Hcp 1350m
6 Animate (Bet Now: $SP.00) on top for me. Kris Lees trained gelding that resumed over 1200m at the Sunny Coast where he was snagged back to last in the field before coming wide in the straight and while he was never a winning threat, he did make up ground and clocked good late splits behind stablemate Snowzone. Can settle much closer and with upside, appeals.
Is the jury somewhat out on 8 Arentee? (Bet Now: $SP.00) Potentially, but gee he strikes a winnable race. He ran three weeks ago at Eagle Farm where he was just off the speed throughout and seemingly had his chance but couldn’t finish it off behind Black On Beauty. He does tend to save his best for Doomben and maps ideally so he’s a big improver.
5 Stampe (Bet Now: $SP.00) will jump on the bunny and prove hard to run down, especially off a win. He landed bets at a big price two weeks back at Eagle Farm when leading throughout and credit to him, he was there to be run down but he just kept finding to fend them off and win. If this track is playing up/in, he is certainly dangerous.
Race 9. (16:33) Gallopers Sports Club (Bm75) 1350m
18 Sha Of Gomer (Bet Now: $SP.00) for me. Chris Waller trained gelding that returns to Brisbane after resuming at the midweeks at Sydney. Given they ran sub 34 for the last 600m, he had no chance of figuring in the finish but did clock good late splits and was very good in defeat. He strikes a very thin 75 and if he gets luck from the tricky gate, he’ll take beating.
11 Uncle Russ (Bet Now: $SP.00) is knocking on the door to win. He was a bit on the plain side two back here before going to Ipswich where he looked all over a winner but couldn’t quite get past Olympic Legend. He has that 1350m run under the belt, which should hold him in good stead for what looks a winnable race here.
6 Azzareach (Bet Now: $SP.00) comes here with fresh legs, four weeks between runs since racing over the mile here when attempting to lead throughout and giving a decent sight but couldn’t quite get there when fourth to Seleque. Think back to 1350m is a big tick for him and with a more patient steer, I think he’ll be more effective.
