Eight races have been set down for Bunbury on Saturday for HG Bolton Sprint Day. The weather is fine, the track is soft (7) and the rail is out five metres for the entire circuit.

Race 1. (14:51) Join The Club - Corporate Membership Plate 1000m
2 Ripper Rupert (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a son of Winning Rupert that resumes for Luke Fernie. He debuted at Ascot in March and was game after leading, just feeling the pinch when second. Looks to have trialled well and strikes a winnable race.
7 Paint It Red (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) looks a nippy tyoe for Hayden Ballantyne that debuted here last Saturday when leading and tried hard but was no match late for a nice horse, Twisted Steel. Has that run under the belt, should lead and only run well.
5 Playing Free (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a well bred gelding for Neville Parnham that is on debut. He had a couple of trials in the Summer without a run. Spelled and this prep has had two trials again, so the grounding is there. Watch betting.
Race 2. (15:31) Machinery West Hcp 1400m
6 Strapping Prophet (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) each way for me. He has had two career runs, each at Northam. He was a real eye catcher on debut behind Naughty Tortie before stepping up to this trip where he got a peach ride but even allowing for that, he was dominant. Good test here but think he can measure up.
5 Naughty Tortie (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) comes straight to town for Simon Miller after an arrogant win in a Northam maiden where he led throughout and gave nothing else a look in to win impressively. He’ll land on speed and take running down.
2 Allentown (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is racing like 1400m will suit. He ran over 1200m last start against the older horses and was a tad keen in the run but kept finding the line in defeat. If he can harness his energy, he has the talent to take this out.
Race 3. (16:09) Nixon Electrical (Rs0ly) 1400m
2 Linden’s Gold (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) has found winning form again and should take beating after an impressive win over 1200m here. HE gave them a start and a beating, getting better as the race went on to win and win well. 1400m, I think, is fine, he’ll be hard to hold out.
7 Catch These Hands (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a son of Rommel that resumes for Mitch Pateman. He is first up, having not raced since April 19 at Ascot over the mile when off speed and chased well enough late when fourth to Blazing Emerald. Fresh at 1400m I like and has trialled well.
8 Forever Dreaming (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a Colin Webster trained mare that resumes. She hasn’t raced since March 8 over 1690m at Bunbury when back in the run and made up decent headway late in the piece. Better suited over a bit further but has trialled nicely, so watch betting.
Race 4. (16:44) Swan Draught (Bm66+) 2231m
2 Dun With The Blues (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) should love the rise in trip. He has raced over the mile his past two, the latest at Pinjarra two weeks ago where he tried his guts out but just didn’t have the turn of foot when third to Lord Gannicus. Hard fit, up in trip, Pike, he’ll do me.
3 Snazzler (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a key threat. He ran second to Forever Boy a fortnight back at Pinjarra, closing hard from the back but just couldn’t quite get there, missing out narrowly. Rise in trip is fine and hopefully for his fans, can settle closer.
4 Let’sdeal (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) ran fourth to Forever Boy two weeks back over 2000m at Pinjarra. He seemed to have his chance from just off the speed but couldn’t quite finish the job when fourth. Not sure he is a horse I could back to win but is one for exotics.
Race 5. (17:17) Tabtouch Past The Post (Rs1mw) 1000m
3 Empress Of India (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) comes here three weeks between runs since winning down the straight at Pinjarra. She knuckled down with purpose late to wear down an in form Lord Shiva, which clearly reads well and he strikes a winnable race.
1 Mungo Jerry (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) comes here with Kalgoorlie form, but the form isn’t too bad. Last start he ran third to Treasured Queen, and despite getting every chance, he battled away well. Good racing style, hard fit and should be around the mark.
6 This’ll Show Ya (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is racing well for Mitch Pateman. She ran on the Sand track here last start when on speed and tried hard but couldn’t quite get past Final Authority. Not sure she is a horse I could back to win but she can run top four.
Race 6. (17:52) Bunbury Volkswagen (Bm72+) 1000m
5 Desert Whisper (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a beauty for Luke Fernie and seems a dynamite short course type. She has won her past two, each at this track/distance, the latest being last Saturday when producing sustained speed and she gave nothing else a look in. Looks the leader and takes running down.
8 Madhi Girl (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) comes back to a bending track after resuming down the straight at Pinjarra where she ran a close up fifth to Main Act but you can make a case to say that with clear air, she wins. Pike on, can be ridden with more intent…dangerous.
6 Songaa (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) comes back in grade/depth after racing two weeks back in the Beaufine when outclassed but far from disgraced in defeat behind Repossession. Back to this level, he can run a much improved race at odds.
Race 7. (18:22) H.g. Bolton Sprint 1200m
9 Toropa (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is probably more effective at 1000m than 1200m but I think she finds a nice race to tackle the six furlongs and get a blacktype win. She ran two weeks ago in the Beaufine and closed with purpose when second to Repossesion. Tricky gate but I think she is the one to beat.
1 Man Crush (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a Luke Fernie trained gelding that resumes. He is first up, having not raced since March when midfield over 1400m in the Bunbury Stakes. Like him at 1200m, he gets Chris Parnham and has trialled really well.
4 Gemma’s Son (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) should appreciate getting to 1200m. He resumed in the Beaufine two weeks back and for mine, he just found them too sharp. Not sure he is good enough to win but can run top four.
Race 8. (18:57) Join The Club β Become A Member (Rs1mw) 1400m
3 Climb On Top (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is ready to win for Team Pearce. He ran over this trip at Northam last start where he was back to near last and spotted those in front a tidy start but was good late in the piece behind Platinum Shot. Can settle much closer in the run and still be effective late. Keen.
11 Uncle Gerard (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is on the seven day back up after racing over the 1690m here last Saturday. He got back to near last in the run and he rocketed late, just missing out on the win when a close up third to Lano. Like him back in trip and hopefully can settle much closer in the run.
4 El Patron (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) should be better for the first up run, which came two weeks back at Pinjarra. He got into a reasobale spot in transit and tried hard but just lacked the quality to put them away. Like him up in trip, good upside, knockout hope.
