Form Guide

Leg 1 – Possibly the hardest way to start a big 6- a two year-old race with not much exposed form on race day so look at the breeding, the trial form and the amount they were purchased for. After doing that, I have come up with Abbotslon, Fontelina, Only Money, Senta D’amor Startreusse and Suits Us, but I am not going in very confident because it is nearly impossible to be confident in a race like this.

Leg 2 – Leading trainer Chris Waller will fight this out with either Flying Zero or Mickelberg winning. Flying Zero finished a close second on debut behind the handy filly Double Ranga before taking on Salade in the Pago Pago and wasn’t disgraced. Looked sharp in a recent barrier trial and will start a clear favourite while the stablemate Mickelberg was racing alongside horses like Abstract, Glissade, Hollyweird, Defiant Dame and Diamond To Pegasus and was doing a good job without winning.

Leg 3 – Wazn could not have been more impressive at his Aussie debut when sitting off the pace and showing a stylish turn of foot to give his rivals a spanking. With all of these imported horses, they get better with a prep under their belt, but he meets a weak field and should be too good for these.

Leg 4 – Be Invincible has had two starts in Australia and steps up to 1900m which he will love. The Paymaster can sit on the speed and give some cheek with no weight on his back. Tiger Good is another that has no weight and will improve on a firmer surface.

Leg 5 – Narrowed it down to two hopes: Caveat and Dream With Me. Caveat for Peter Snowden is resuming after a 126 day spell. A recent barier trial suggests she is ready for a first up win while Dream With Me, trained by Kris Lees, was ultra impressive at Newcastle when winning and it appeared she had much more to give. One of those two should win.

Leg 6 – I’ll make it between the bottom two. Sir Fox was heavily supported first up but was galloped on so forgive and forget. Drawn to receive a gun run, weak race, O’Hara in form, he ticks all the boxes. Last Day Friday is a very hard horse to follow but if he decides to turn up here, he can win. He caught the eye at Hawkesbury last start and will get a sucker run from the barrier. He’ll be hitting the line hard late.
