Night racing continues at Moonee Valley this Friday. The weather is fine, the track is soft (6) and the rail is out seven metres for the entire circuit.

5 Whatafox (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has finally got a win on the board and hopefully she can go on with it. She had to go to a thin Echuca maiden on Cup Day to find the kill and a kill it was, winning by five lengths without being fully extended. Has run well in town, got good upside and with the Maher/Eustace polish, happy to be in her corner.

The Busuttin/Young camp is flying the past couple of weeks so giving respect to 6 Chandon Burj (Bet Now:  $SP.00). She ran at Flemington on Oaks Day and was hailed as the winner when she presented but was nabbed late by a handy mare, Matron Bullwinkel. That form, you’d think, reads well for this.

3 Riotous Mischief (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a mare that has returned in very good order for Andrew Bobbin. Tick under three weeks between runs since racing over the mile at Morphettville where she got a suck run behind the speed and tried her guts out when second to Residue. Has run well at the track/distance and is fourth up so she should just about be at peak fitness.

I think the rise to the mile is ideal for 5 Hard To Cross (Bet Now:  $SP.00). He’s had two career outings, both at 1400m. Latest run came on Cup Day at Echuca where he loomed to win but condition just gave out late, finishing second. Month between runs so has upside and getting to 1600m should see him prove hard to beat.

2 Tyita (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has done little wrong in two career outings for Chris Waller, placing each time. Latest run came at Bendigo just over two weeks ago when off the speed and took forever to wind into his work but was very good late when second to Bella Nights. Like him up to the mile and has the Waller polish.

1 Toronova (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has had a few chances to break the maiden tag but could fill a first four spot. He ran over the mile last Thursday at Pakenham where he got back to near last in the run and while he was never a threat he did make up headway late and was good in defeat behind Emerald Jack. Doubt he wins, but is one for multiples.

Like 10 White Russian (Bet Now:  $SP.00) here. She resumes for the Maher/Eustace camp, having not raced since her debut at Sandown back in June when down the track behind Ellipitical, with the track being too wet. Had jumped out well prior and to get ready for her return here, her jumpout work has been strong. Think she wins with luck from the gate.

1 Cortes (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a Pariah colt for the Griffiths/De Kock stable that is on debut. He’s had a couple of Cranbourne jumpouts to get ready for start, winning the latest last week and seemingly moving pretty well to the eye. Has a better map, potentially, than White Russian, and stable have definitely improved with their first up runners in recent times.

2 Crowning Moment (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a knockout chance at odds. He has had two runs back from a spell, both on the home deck at Mornington where he ran well fresh before a down the track effort, where the ground was too wet for him. Firmer footing this time around, he can run a much improved race.

I don’t think you can go wrong backing 10 Drop The Mic (Bet Now:  $SP.00), who should get every chance from gate one. She ran last Wednesday at Bendigo when on speed and she tried her guts out, but was just run down late by a handy horse, Screwed Down, with a gap to the rest. Lands on speed and is hard to get past.

1 Boldinho (Bet Now:  $SP.00) looks hard to beat here for the Maher/Eustace camp. Ran down the straight at Flemington on Cup Day when just off the pace and closed the race pretty well when third to Renosu. 1000m looks his right trip and back a fair way in grade/depth, he appeals.

7 McTaggart (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is heading in the right direction for Chris Waller. Put together a couple of solid efforts over 1100m before going to the 1000m at Cranbourne where he looked a good thing on paper and duly saluted in dominant fashion. Tricky draw, but think he does have talent.

The dry-ish deck is somewhat of a concern with 3 El Salto (Bet Now:  $SP.00) but there is just so much speed engaged here, he’ll get his chance to sit back and launch late. Strong winner two back at Bendigo before going to Champions Day at Flemington when down the track behind Snapper. Back to a fast run 955m is ideal. Just hoping this track has a touch of give and not a road.

2 Along The River (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a key threat. He was kept quite safe in betting when racing down the straight at Flemington last time where he got back in the second half of the field and worked home well late in the piece behind Snapper. If he’s within range on the turn, he can win.

10 Moon And Back (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is another that will sit off the pace and be strong late. Totally forgiving of her run on the Ballarat Synthetic given she was four wide no cover for the trip. Has a good record in the 955m races and maps to do no work. If she gets luck in getting clear, she can threaten.

I’ve been on 11 Cool Kaap (Bet Now:  $SP.00) every run this time in and won’t be dropping off. Forgiving his run at Flemington on Cup Day where he wasn’t given much hope with the ride from J Mac and the run had merit I thought. Back to a very moderate 64, with luck from the gate, he’s the one for me.

10 Pitchanun (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is knocking on the door to win. Has been kept on ice since Geelong Cup Day where she tried her guts out and fought on well enough but was no match late for French Emperor, who has won again since, so the form does read well and she tends to save her best for The Valley.

2 Chernak (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is one I could speck at a price as a saver. Import that made his Australian debut on Sale Cup Day when wide no cover for the trip and tired to finish down the track. Might want one more and a rise to 2400m, but his overseas form certainly reads well enough for what is a thin race.

3 Neodium (Bet Now:  $SP.00) races best when he dominates from the front and if that eventuates here, good luck beating him. Put together a couple of sharp wins over 1550m on the Parks track at Morphettville. He then came back to 1400m two weeks ago here when outside the leader and he fought on bravely, only getting run down late by My Khalifa. Hoping for an aggressive ride to find the front. If he leads, I think he wins.

4 Vitruvius (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is knocking on the door. Too bad to be true first up on Horsham Cup Day before going to Bendigo where he had the suck run near the inside and kept finding the line when second to Saucey Horsey. Hard fit now and on a firmer deck, he appeals as a leading contender.

6 Real Sensation (Bet Now:  $SP.00) should be suited at 1600m here. Sprouted wings late to win fresh on Thousand Guineas Day at Caulfield before going to Bendigo Cup Day where he got back and made up some ground, but was never a threat. Hard fit now, he can bounce back into the winners list.

10 Little Mermaid (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has to be the one to beat in the get out. She resumed three weeks ago at this track/distance and no doubt that with a clear path, she wins the race instead of a fast finishing second to Ocean’s Jen. Had a good grounding leading into that so she’s hard fit and finds a very winnable race.

2 Tararua (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a little query at 1200m but that looks to be offset by gate one. He ran over 1100m on Geelong Cup Day and was somewhat unlucky, finishing off strongly late when eventually clear behind Hypothetical. Month between runs, so he likes his runs spaced and maps to do no work.

4 Twiggy Pop (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is an improver at odds. Caught the eye with a close up third at Moe before going to Geelong Cup Day where he got back to near last in the run and was never a threat behind Hypothetical. Like him up to 1200m and if he gets a drag into the race, he could be quite dangerous at a price.

NEXT BEST: Race Three Number 10 White Russian

LONG SHOT: Race Five Number 3 El Salto
