17/12/2022 Horse Racing Tips and Best Bets – Gawler

12 More Sugar (Bet Now:  $SP.00) looks the one to beat if she’s ready to go. She has only had one career outing, which came at September at Murray Bridge and was far from disgraced in defeat behind Lancelotto in a race that has produced five winners, so it’s a red hot form race, and I thought her recent trial was a lovely piece of work. Thin maiden, I am pretty keen on her chances.

10 Half A Dram (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a daughter of Kermadec for Matty Seyers that is on debut and is the only threat. On breeding, she should be better suited over further, but she was very sharp in a trial win at Strathalbyn over 1000m, going about her business nicely and seemingly had plenty in hand. Market will tell you if she has an engine under the hood, but to the eye, I think she does.

Will Clarken had a couple accepted but has split them and his sole rep here is 3 Choggy’s My Mate (Bet Now:  $SP.00). He debuted here a month back when well tried in the market but failed to fire and was plain in the straight when down the track behind Tan Tat Beau. Tongue tie on suggests that could be the reason why he flopped on debut and the tick over trial was solid, so watch the market.

7 Imbibe (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a filly with good talent that took a while to break the maiden tag but it finally came at Murray Bridge last time out. She was given a peach by Vorster, sitting just off the pace before angling into clear air and she put them away impressively to win nicely. Now that she has got the win on the board, she can certainly go on with it and measure up here.

1 Fiorada Lad (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is bred to eat up 1500m and he looks like he has an engine under the hood. Completely unwanted in betting when making his debut in a 3YO metro race two weeks ago on the Parks track at Morphettville but he ran a super race, attempting to lead throughout and battled on very well when second to Is It Me. If he runs up to that effort here, he’ll take beating against this lot.

Port Lincoln form rarely travels away from Port Lincoln but I am respecting the maiden win last start from 3 Sir Toop (Bet Now:  $SP.00). Aaron Bain is a trainer who is happy to travel for a win and he sent this guy there for the kill, and what a kill it was, spanking them by seven but it could have easily been more. Has home track advantage and he might well be a difference horse now the Blinkers have been applied.

Up in trip and hard fit, keen on 1 Morty (Bet Now:  $SP.00). He ran over 1800m last Saturday at Morphettville and to the eye, it was just a run, but given the race shape, he actually did a really good job in defeat behind the in form Wild Imagination. 2100m isn’t a box ticked by him but he is racing like it will be fine and the depth here is nowhere near as strong. Pretty keen on his prospects.

5 Crypto Currency (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a query at 2100m but he’s a very genuine animal that has a good racing style. He ran over 1950m on the Parks track a fortnight back where he was near the speed throughout and on the turn, he looked the winner, but he couldn’t quite attack the line and was nabbed late by Tycoon Bec. I reckon if this track is playing up/in, which it can at these Gawler Saturday meetings, he’ll take beating.

3 Oath Of Omerta (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is suited back in trip. Michael Hickmott trained gelding that ran over 2500m last time out and he just found the trip a bridge too far when finishing down the track behind Sebonna, who was flying at the time. 2100m looks ideal and if he lands on speed, that might well be the pattern for this track, so I think he has to be respected for a potential bounce back.

2 Getouttheway (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a good each gamble I’d suggest. Sue Nolan trained gelding that saves his best for Gawler and he is sneaky flying this guy. Ran a super race two back in the Gawler Cup behind Montign before going to the Parks track several weeks ago when back last in a slowly run affair and never threatened, but his late splits were quite good. Kept on ice, I dare say for this meeting, and he brings the strong form lines.

1 Eaglelou (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is suited back in trip. On the seven day back up after racing last Saturday over 1800m at Morphettville where he was ridden quite negatively I thought by Potter, spotting Residue far too much head start and was never a factor, being asked to do too much. Drops a fair bit in depth here and I think with a more positive ride, he can run a much improved race and take this out.

3 Carry The Musket (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a track specialist that commands respect. All three runs back from a spell have come here, the latest start seeing him win at this trip at the midweeks, sitting back off the speed and launching late to win nicely. I don’t think you can come from the back and win, so hopefully can settle closer in the run. If that eventuates, he is going well enough to be a threat.

3 Starsongari (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has come back in super order for Chris Bieg and should prove hard to beat against these. Ran over this trip two weeks ago on the Parks track where she was afforded every chance by Logan, looming to win but couldn’t quite get there when beaten a lip bu surprise winner Pentire’s Spirit. Hard fit, in form, stable in form, Mares grade, not much depth…all points to her.

Up to 1200m is a big tick for 6 Prance N Dance (Bet Now:  $SP.00). This girl resumed a fortnight back over 1000m on the Parks track and I thought she did a very good job in defeat behind Rodeo after doing work from a tricky gate. I reckon the rise to 1200m is a positive for her, as well as back to her own sex. Been up a little while but off last run, she has to rate as one of the hardest to beat.

4 Roxy Blue (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is suited back to her own sex and back slightly in depth. She ran two weeks back on the Parks track when wide no cover for the trip and that early burn just told late in the piece, finishing down the track behind Rodeo, who is flying at the moment. She does her best racing on speed, so for her fans, hopefully she gets there without spending too many petrol tickets.

3 Karacasu (Bet Now:  $SP.00) can run a much improved race. Like most, I was keen on him when he resumed on the Parks track a few weeks ago but the track was shifty with race day rain and he was a beaten horse from a fair way out, so forget he went around. He has the class/quality to do a number on these. Gets another chance.

6 Picargo (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has a good track/distance and should prove hard to beat for Ryan Balfour. Ran over this trip two weeks ago on the Parks track where he had the dream run in transit before angling clear and he looked the winner when presented but had to settle for a narrow second to Saskatoon. He tends to save his best for Gawler, which clearly should hold him in good stead for this.

1 Terbium (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a quality sprinter for Phillip Stokes that resumes. He hasn’t raced since May 28 at Murray Bridge when producing an end of prep run behind Calypso Reign, who has gone on to be a Stakes winner, so the form reads very well for this and his trial work indicates he has come back in pretty good order. Market will tell you if he’s ready to go first up or whether he needs the run.

6 Lord Wonder (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is third up from a spell and should just about be at peak fitness. Game second fresh at Murray Bridge before going to the Parks track a few weeks ago where I thought Stubby gave him every possible chance with the ride but couldn’t quite get there when second to Aitch D’Amico. Back on a firmer deck, that might be enough to get him over the line.

1 Frankel Star (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has a good track/distance record, which keeps him in the mix. Strong first up winner at Murray Bridge before going to the Parks track where he had the suck run near the speed but couldn’t finish it off and was on the plain side behind Pudding. Overall, this isn’t a strong race, and if he can land on speed without doing too much work, he’ll be quite dangerous.

2 Exalted Fire (Bet Now:  $SP.00) can bounce back getting back in trip. Three weeks between runs since a plain effort over 1800m at Morphettville behind Wild Imagination, and I thought that form would be rubbish but that mare proved me wrong with a strong win last Saturday. Like this horse back to 1500m and his best is better than these. Just a matter of where he is at so watch the market.

4 Thrill Kill (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is certainly capable with his best. He resumed four weeks ago over 1400m on the Parks track when wide throughout on a day where nearer the inside was the spot to be, which is where the eventual winner My Khalifa was and duly saluted, and that horse won again next start, so the form reads super, this guy has a strong second up record and maps to get a much better run in transit.

9 Disagreeable Miss (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is racing like a coming winner. Last couple of runs have come over 1550m on the Parks track, the latest being two weeks ago when back near last in the run and was very good late without threatening behind Pudding, running fourth. Getting away from that track perfect for her and if she can settle closer in the run, she’s going to prove hard to hold out.

10 Knightstown (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has been teasing to win a race this prep but has been a fraction disappointing so I think the rise in trip might well be last chance territory for him. He ran fifth to Texan Windstorm two weeks back and seemingly had his chance but wasn’t beaten too far. His best can clearly see him take this out. Just rather see him do it than back him to do it, so include in multiples.

2 Viduka (Bet Now:  $SP.00) comes here with fresh legs and is dangerous with his best. He hasn’t raced since November 16 at Morphettville when wide no cover on speed and just felt the pinch late behind Classy Kenny. Tick over trial last week was a strong piece of work and with the claim for Campbell Rawiller, he gets in well, and the stable is going well, so he commands some level of respect.

3 Anjopin (Bet Now:  $SP.00) looks the only other serious winning chance IMO. He looked a leading chance last Saturday but was scratched behind the barriers so all being well here, he’s hard to beat. Hasn’t raced since Derby Day at Morphettville when a strong on speed winner, albeit in a race seemingly weaker than this IMO, but he is in well after the claim, he draws soft and is a winner.

11 Justakidd (Bet Now:  $SP.00) can take this out if they can run on. He ran here just under three weeks back and was solid to the line from off the speed when fourth to Tan Tat Beau, beaten 2.5L. If he’s within range on the turn, he’s good enough to take this out for sure, with a good lead being Stubby sticking.

LONG SHOT: Race Four Number 2 Getouttheway
