Nine races will be run and won at Rosehill this Saturday. The weather is overcast, the track is good (4) and the rail is out six metres for the entire circuit.

3 Roheryn…(Bet Now: $1.50)  visually looks a Group class horse. But this will be a good test to see if he truly is. The win a fortnight back was visually spectacular. The way he lengthened was that of a quality animal and both James Cummings and J Mac have stated that repeatedly. Good test here against some nice types…but he could be the best of the lot.

Danger

2 Ronstar (Bet Now: $10.00) is a Gary Portelli trained three year old who resumed at this track/distance two weeks ago and was solid enough in defeat but was clearly no match for a potential star in Roheryn. Like him back to 1100m because he will be strong late off a likely decent enough tempo. Not sure he leads but should run well.

Long Shot

5 Beidi (Bet Now: $14.00) is a son of Stryker resuming for Chris Waller. He kicked off his career during the Winter where he ran four times, with the highlight being a win on debut at Canterbury in a race that didn’t exactly rate through the roof. Interesting he resumes without a trial, so best to watch the market and yard.

Race 2. (13:20) Summer Racing Handicap (88) 2400m

7 The Bandit (Bet Now: $3.40) on top. Richard Freedman trains this gelding, who ran over this trip on Cup Day where he had specking at longer odds and it was justified because he ran really well, running second to Heartlet. He should have improvement to come and this race doesn’t appear overly strong, so he’ll do me.

Danger

5 Tamarack (Bet Now: $1.80) was the one punters were keen to back at this track/distance two weeks ago where I thought he had his chance but perhaps but the slow early tempo didn’t help his cause. Still, a touch disappointing I thought behind stablemate Cosmologist. Perhaps the slight drop in depth will help him. Not really a long shot but they are the main three.

Long Shot

4 Noumea (Bet Now: $3.50) should run third. Eric Musgrove trains this former Godolphin galloper, who seems to be enjoying life under the care of the jumps racing master, winning the Coleraine Cup four back and has been good since, the latest in the Kyneton Cup, a good country cup in Victoria. Not sure he can win, but I wouldn’t be shocked if he did.

Race 3. (13:55) TAB Highway Handicap (Class 2) 1100m

9 Tully Toff (Bet Now: $13.00) is a Gary Colvin trained gelding who has promised a fair bit throughout his career but couldn’t quite put it together. The blinkers came off for the resumption at Wagga and it seemed to work. He led all the way and bolted in, running good time relative to the day. With natural improvement off that, he can measure up.

Danger

11 Our Rosemaree (Bet Now: $11.00) is a Terry Robinson trained mare who has contested Highways at her past five starts and while she hasn’t won, she hasn’t been far away, the latest coming here a fortnight back behind Handle The Truth. I think back to 1100m will suit, draws well and remains down in the weights.

Long Shot

5 Fair Dinkum (Bet Now: $14.00) a threat for me. Ross Stitt rarely comes to town but when he does, he generally doesn’t leave without prizemoney. This three year old has run over 1100m at Grafton at his past two, the latest being just under three weeks back when a narrow third to Crooked Gent in a race that has already produced a couple of winners. He’ll be strong late I’m sure.

Race 4. (14:30) November Topaz 1900m

7 Articus…(Bet Now: $7.50) has he turned the corner? Off the first up run for Kris Lees, the answer is an overwhelming yes. I thought his effort behind Mahalangur was outstanding given he was first up over an unsuitable trip yet still closed off. He’s even better on firmer footing. If you can trust that run, he’s definitely in the game.

Danger

8 Abdon…(Bet Now: $5.50) gee I couldn’t get back him to win given his record, but he’s thereabouts and could fill a first four spot. Ran over 1800m at Randwick three weeks ago where he was okay without setting the world on fire behind Aqua D’Vina. Perhaps up in trip/down in the weights should suit him.

Long Shot

Well the unknown is clearly 3 Our Century (Bet Now: $6.50) for Kim Waugh and Australian Bloodstock. He’s certainly in the game against this lot but how forward is he for the resumption. He’s had a couple of 1200m trials under the belt and has looked really good. Fitness the clear unknown but has got the ability/brilliance to beat these.

Race 5. (15:05) November Handicap 1400m

Back Me

7 Just Dreaming (Bet Now: $3.70) is a Kris Lees trained mare who was I was very keen on when she ran at Randwick three weeks ago but on face value, I thought she was terrible behind Torgersen after getting a relatively sweet trip just near the speed. At her best, she should go awfully close. But that last start was a little worrying. The big tick though is Rachel King steers and she rides the mare very well.

Danger

Third up from a spell, 6 Firsthand (Bet Now: $5.00) should just about be ready to show his best. Hasn’t raced since October 20 at Randwick over 1200m where he got well back off the pace but finished off really strongly to run a narrow fifth to Noble Joey. Good record on his home track at and up to 1400m is perfect.

Long Shot

4 My Nordic Hero (Bet Now: $34.00) is a handy stayer for Chris Waller that resumes. This galloper had a very solid Autumn/Winter prep, highlighted by a win at the Valley along with a second to Jaameh. Trial was nothing flash, but he can sprint well fresh and if they do go silly in front, he could well have last say at good odds.

Race 6. (15:45) Tab.com.au Handicap (88) 1500m

Back Me

11 Notio (Bet Now: $7.00) for me in a very tricky event. Team Hawkes trains this gelding, who resumed at Caulfield on September 30 and was quite good in defeat I thought when fifth to Eclair Calling, beaten under four lengths. Freshened up and closed off well in a trial here last week behind a good one in Mister Songman. Good second up record, up to 1500m suits and he generally is around the mark.

Danger

2 Suncraze (Bet Now: $5.50) is a Mel O’Gorman trained gelding who was very good in defeat two back in the Kosciuszko before going to Flemington for Cup Week where he was most disappointing behind Fifty Stars. Handles all conditions, I think, but is clearly at his best on top of the ground. He can bounce back on firmer footing.

Long Shot

4 The Getaway (Bet Now: $35.00) is a stayer for Paul Perry that resumes. The Autumn/Winter prep for him was consistent for the most part and did win a race over 2000m here. I think whatever he does here, and perhaps second up as well, but his trials have been encouraging and he’ll be strong at the end looking to the future.

Race 7. (16:20) Rosehill Bowling Club Sprint (94) 1100m

Back Me

I want to give a chance to the Bjorn Baker trained 3 Sir Plush (Bet Now: $14.00). Thought he was threatening to win a race after a couple of encouraging runs to kick off the prep but he didn’t fire a shot soon after. Freshened up and I thought his trial at Gosford was very good and his 1100m record at Rosehill is strong.

Danger

7 Isaurian (Bet Now: $4.00) is a James Cummings trained four year old who raced over 1100m on Cup Day at Randwick where I thought Rachel King gave the son of Exceed And Excel every chance. Loomed large to win but couldn’t quite finish it off when fourth to Marsupial. Gate one, should get every chance and is a clear threat.

Long Shot

If 2 Strathmore (Bet Now: $16.00) turned up with his A1 Hong Kong form, he’d be beating these. Quality animal that was trained by Tony Millard in Hong Kong before being sent to New Zealand where he had a trial in late September and looked very good. Now with Chris Waller, he’s a huge yard/market watch against these.

Race 8. (17:00) ATC Sprint (78) 1200m

Back Me

Really like 5 Seasons (Bet Now: $2.00). Les Bridge trainst his mare, who first up last prep at Canterbury will likely go down as the best thing beat of the 2018 calendar year. She then went on to win a couple of races in very impressive fashion. Loved the way she has looked at the trials and appears forward enough for this 1200m assignment.

Danger

I like 4 Deft (Bet Now: $6.00) as a horse. Progressive mare for James Cummings who was given a lovely steer to get the job done under the lights at Canterbury, dashing off the back of Sedition and pouncing to win. Races against the mares now and her overall record is strong. Very genuine and hard to knock her.

Long Shot

3 Nicci’s Gold (Bet Now: $21.00) is a Gary Portelli trained mare that is first up. She was quite consistent in her Winter prep and while she only won the one race, she wasn’t far off for the most part. Trialled last week over 800m at Warwick Farm and I liked the way she found the line under little riding. She’ll get back and launch late.

Race 9. (17:40) #theraces Handicap (78) 1300m

Back Me

Very keen to see 1 Newsfan (Bet Now: $3.10) run around again. Kim Waugh has a really good mare on her hands that resumed over 1200m here a fortnight back and she was most impressive in getting the job done, albeit in a much easier race, but she won with such class and authority. If she naturally improves off that, clearly the one to beat.

Danger

11 Southern Lad (Bet Now: $5.00) is a John O’Shea trained gelding who looks suited at 1300m. He ran over 1200m on Cup Day at Randwick where he just got too far back in the run but he made up a tremendous amount of ground to just miss out on picking up Niccobelle. Very progressive galloper and confident he can measure up.

Long Shot

6 Mapmaker (Bet Now: $9.50) might be looking for a tad further, but Tim Martin has him going well. Ran over this track/distance a fortnight back where he looked the winner but was nabbed on the peg by Schubert. I think he wants 1400-1500, so remaining at 1300m the query, but fitter and draws well again.
