16/9/2017 Horse Racing Tips and Best Bets – Doomben

1 Straturbo (Bet Now: $3.90) is a good sprinter that is first up for the Portelli yard and gee he finds a lovely race to resume in. Ran some really good races during the Autumn, including a couple here. Looks to have come back in great order based on the two trial wins. He goes well fresh, should lead and take some beating.

3 With A Promise (Bet Now: $4.80) is a Stakes winning mare for Ben Currie that is first up. She came of age in the Winter, highlighted by her shock win at $101 in the Silk Stocking at the Gold Coast when beating a quality field and she proved that was no fluke with a couple of wins to end the Winter prep. Resumes with no trials, but has class/quality.

5 Hi I’m Back i(Bet Now: $6.00) s a Sequalo gelding resuming for Tony Gollan. This bloke can be quite hot and cold at times, but the pattern does suggest he saves his best for early on in a prep, and that looks to be the case based on a lovely trial win last Tuesday at Deagon where he won comfortably and ran time. Keen to see what the market does.

8 Real Sting (Bet Now: $5.50) on top for me here. O’Dea trained gelding who has an awful racing pattern but I think in terms of ability, he has these covered I feel. Loved his effort here over the mile two weeks ago when flashing home after being last all the way behind Rancho Montoya. Finally gets to this trip and should take some beating.

2 Ingeegoodbe (Bet Now: $4.40) is a horse in really good form at the moment for the Heathcoate yard who is building a decent picket fence next to his name and should take some beating here after winning a fortnight back in a similar race where he got clear late and savaged the line to win right on the peg. He’ll go close again.

1 My Giuliano (Bet Now: $6.50) is the watch horse here. Chris Waller trained stayer who has done bugger all in two runs back from a break, the latest over the 2000m at Randwick a fortnight back when finishing last behind stablemate Up ‘N’ Rolling. Better suited on a wet track, but his class is lengths better than this lot.

3 Aderito (Bet Now: $8.50) is a sharp-ish sprinter for the Kelly Schweida who can reel off a quick furlong when cuddled and that was indeed the case last time out at Ipswich where he sprinted when clear to nab the odds on pop right on the peg. If a similar scenario eventuates here, he’ll be the finishing off late.

8 The Ambassadore (Bet Now: $2.15) is the watch horse here. Tony Gollan trained gelding who hasn’t quite lived up to his early promise but there still does appear to be a decent engine under the bonnet. Sprints well fresh and he did look the part in a Deagon trial last Tuesday. Market will be the guide.

I think 13 Girl In A Million (Bet Now: $6.00) is the big watch here. Kicked off her career with an explosive win before two subsequent failures, both times with excuses. Tipped out and resumed with a fab win on her home track at Toowoomba. Gate is tricky, but she does have brilliant early toe to get across and take some running down.

4 Manias (Bet Now: $2.30) is one of the in form gallopers in Brisbane at the moment and I am happy to be in his corner. Jimmy Orman gave him a lovely steer at this track/distance a fortnight back and from the home turn onwards, it was painless as he took the front and kicked clear, beating Sabkhat, who franked the form by winning last week. Reads well for this.

13 Plucky Girl (Bet Now: $3.80) is a consistent mare for the Toby Edmonds yard who did a great job here I thought a fortnight back given Lloyd didn’t give her the best of rides, making her do a power of work, yet she still had the audacity to surge and just miss in a narrow three way go. Provided that hasn’t busted her, she’s right in this.

12 Mercurian (Bet Now: $17.00) was unwanted in betting when resuming over 1200m at the Gold Coast three weeks back but I thought he did a good job in defeat, closing off okay late in the piece behind tearaway winner Tycoon Ace. Has a really good second up record and is a winner at Doomben, so he ticks a few boxes.

2 Snitz (Bet Now: $1.75) is a smart type for Matty Dunn who was confidently backed when racing over the track/distance here a fortnight back and the punters got it spot on. He had a suck run behind the speed, peeled and pounced whereas the main threat was out the back and had to come wide. Not as much depth here and he looks the one.

1 Mishani Bullitt (Bet Now: $3.50) is a quality galloper for Chris Anderson who scored a good win fresh over a subsequent winner before going to the Snitz race mentioned above where he tried hard but was no match for that horse. Does get a 2.5kg weight swing, but doubt he turns the tables. Still, should run well.

This race really falls away after that pair. Next best would be 3 Legadema (Bet Now: $5.50). Toby Edmonds trained three year old who attempted to lead all the way in the Snitz race here a fortnight back but dropped out and finished five lengths away. Not sure he can turn the tables, but he does get the 2.5kg weight swing and Lloyd takes over.

11 Impregnable (Bet Now: $2.50) is a Toby Edmonds trained galloper who was dreadful as a $1.30 pop two back but last start Lloyd jumped back on, drew well, took advantage of the gate and burst through late to finish best and win. He can be a tricky horse at times and things do need to go his way, but the talent is definitely here.

I think the rise to 1200m will suit last start winner 5 Mishani El Lobo (Bet Now: $8.50). He was ridden a treat by Steph Lacy when racing over the 1110m here a fortnight back, tucking in behind the speed before getting the split and dashing through to win. I think with a similar run, he’ll see out the 1200m okay.

3 Denarius (Bet Now: $14.00) is a talented yet frustrating galloper for the Brian Wakefield yard who comes back to 1200m after racing over 1350m here two weeks ago. He got back in the run again and took a while to get going but was good late behind Manias. I think with a hot speed in front, look for him to launch late.

6 Lifesaver (Bet Now: $4.80) is a promising galloper for Matty Dunn who is back north after two Highway attempts in Sydney to kick off the prep. Just missed in a narrow go fresh to Another Sin before a close up third to Mossman Gorge. Looking for further, which he gets here, hard fit…looks the one to beat.

4 Torgersen (Bet Now: $6.00) is the obvious big watch here. Chris Waller trained galloper who is a Group l performer that makes his QLD debut here. This time last year he was two lengths off Hauraki in an Epsom…big fall from grace. Still, he’s here and has trialled well back in Sydney in readiness.

14 Beaudacious (Bet Now: $12.00) was a luckless fourth behind Bonsho first up before racing here a fortnight back where she did a bit of work in the run and didn’t appear 100% in her action behind Impregnable. Forgive a horse for one poor run, and that is what I’ll do here. Draws well and Browne sticks.

14 Ahndras (Bet Now: $6.50) looks a very good bet for me here. Was 1350m to the mile second up here a fortnight back and she just lacked that match fitness to go with them when they sprinted, but her finale was outstanding behind Rancho Montoya. Should be cherry ripe now third up from a break and looks the one.

6 One Inch Punch (Bet Now: $8.00) was confidently backed when racing at this track/distance two weeks ago and to the eye he was disappointing but I think it might have been just a touch of the second up syndrome. Effort was still sound. Should be ready now third up and looms as one of the hardest to beat.

11 Rosie Posie (Bet Now: $19.00) was backed as if unbeatable when racing over the 1350m here a fortnight back but she didn’t quite get the job done when settling for a narrow fourth to Magnajoy in a blanket finish. Looks ready to tackle the mile, has upside I feel and while I doubt she wins, she’s certainly one for exotics.

17 Dia De Reyes (Bet Now: $4.80) gains a start so he goes on top. Matty Dunn trained four year old who did a ripping job last time out at the Sunny Coast where he chased hard, hit the front for a brief moment but was bloused on the peg by Miss Arabella, who came out and won last week at Ipswich to frank the form. Third up at the mile with Fradd on looks an ideal recipe for success.

8 Revaldor (Bet Now: $9.50) is a Bruce Brown trained gelding who is certainly good enough to beat these, but he does need a few things to go his way. He ran over the 1350m here a fortnight back and was perhaps a bit too close to the speed and that left him gassed at the end behind Manias. Unknown at the mile, but with a cold ride, he gets it I think.

14 Snapper (Bet Now: $9.50) is on the seven day back up after racing over 1200m at the Gold Coast last Saturday where he ran an absolute shocker I thought behind O’Spacechello despite a good speed in front of him to attack off. Keep in mind he was 1200m back from 1800m. Back up to the mile could do the trick.

NEXT BEST: Race Seven Number 6 Lifesaver

VALUE: Race Three Number 3 Aderito
