16/10/2021 Horse Racing Tips and Best Bets – Morphettville

I’ll give 3 Wings Of Pastrami (Bet Now: $3.20) a chance. This mare was ridden warm two weeks ago on the Parks track and while she ran well, I think it took something away from her finale when second to impressive winner Exalted Ambition. I think with a more conservative steer, she’ll be more effective.

1 Exalted Ambition (Bet Now: $3.00) is a beauty for Grant Young. Seemingly has been in work forever but continues to race at a pretty good level. Kept safe at odds two weeks ago on the Parks track and those who were on at double figures weren’t concerned at any stage. He led throughout and was dominant. Tends to save his best for the Parks track but is just as capable on the course proper.

6 Gondolier (Bet Now: $20.00) was scratched from an easier race at Murray Bridge on Friday in preference for this. He’s a one batter but will stay all day and toughed it out best to win at Gawler two back, at big odds, wearing down Masaru Warrior, which is nothing to jump up and down about. Doubt he wins, but a first four threat.

8 Jaazeb (Bet Now: $2.10) looks to have strong enough form to be taking this out. Resumed a few weeks ago on the Parks track where the race just looked set up perfect for him, but had his chance when second to Philonize, who bolted up last Saturday, so the form reads super, and the tick over trial was a good piece of work.

11 Vintage Folly (Bet Now: $6.50) is a Free Eagle mare for Team McEvoy that is on debut. This girl has had two trials this prep to get ready for start one and each time she has looked the part and shown good ability. Stable rarely get it wrong when they debut one in town, so watch the market.

10 Residue (Bet Now: $51.00) is a first four threat. Mick Huxtable trained three year old that debuted two weeks back on the Parks track. He got back in the run, wide with cover, and tried hard, but couldn’t quite finish his race off. Can sit closer in the run from the draw and an improved showing is on the cards.

1 Karacasu (Bet Now: $2.80) has the weight to carry, but he showed in his dominant first up win he can carry weight successfully. Produced good change up speed when asked and was impressive in putting them away. Not sure what the stable has in mind for him, but I have no doubt if he keeps winning, which I think he will here, he’ll be coming to Melbourne.

7 Hopon Harry (Bet Now: $4.20) is a talented animal for the Macdonald/Gluyas camp that comes here off the back of a heat win two weeks back on the Parks track. Admittedly it was just a field of three, but he showed good ticker late, fended them off and was impressive. I think in the Autumn you’ll see a Carnival class horse but that said, he can still take this out.

3 Magic Max (Bet Now: $34.00) can be an improver here. He ran several weeks back on the course proper here where the intention was to ride him cold but he jumped too well. Sat on speed and tried, but felt the pinch late behind Karacasu. With a more conservative run, he could fill a place again.

2 Extra Time (Bet Now: $2.15) is three weeks between runs for the Macdonald/Gluyas camp since recording an impressive win on the Parks track. He was back in the run and looked in a bit of trouble but he came with a well timed run under Stubby and was too good. Form around him is A1 and he’ll take beating here.

8 Pindaric (Bet Now: $2.90) is a talented animal that resumes for Michael Hickmott, a stable that is badly out of form compared to this time last year, so a market watch I think with this camp at the moment, but this horse is certainly capable. Hasn’t raced since July 24 here when struggling on the bog track. Given a good break, trialled well leading in…his best is good enough, but the last 10-15 minutes of betting will tell you if he’s ready.

Great to see 3 Royal Mile (Bet Now: $7.00) back at the races. Quality four year old for Lee Creek that resumes, having not raced since a SA Derby prep, which included a win in the Chairmans before eventually running fifth in the Derby. 1200m is clearly short of his best but does have class.

3 Chill With Teejay (Bet Now: $5.00) is a Peter Hardacre trained mare that resumes. This girl hasn’t raced since May 15 here where she was on speed against the older horses and fought on really well when a narrow second to Extreme Thrill. Stable is in good form at the moment, especially with their first up runners, so watch the market.

4 Ziavera (Bet Now: $4.20) should be around the mark for the Phillip Stokes team. Ran over 1250m on the Parks track two weeks ago and was good late from off the speed when fifth to So You Can. Form prior in Victoria was more than sound and that run last time was encouraging so she commands respect.

1 Hearty Lass (Bet Now: $5.50) is certainly capable if she produced anything near her best. Bombed the start two weeks back on the Parks track, losing all hope, but considering that, her run had plenty of merit behind So You Can. Liked the tick over trial and she saves her best for the course proper.

5 Ocean Reward (Bet Now: $4.00) is on the seven day back up for Mark Webb after racing last Saturday here. He was run off his legs early but picked up the bit and was quite good late in the piece I thought when fourth. He has reacted positively on the back up before and can sit much closer in the run.

7 Rock Harbour (Bet Now: $4.20) looks ready to win now for David Jolly. Has been bouncing between 1200m and 1400m and for mine, he’s racing like he is suited at 1200m, which he gets here. Last run was several weeks ago on the course proper here when a game third to impressive winner Thrill Kill. He’s hard to beat.

3 Hypercane (Bet Now: $8.50) is a Team Jolly trained gelding that resumes. This guy hasn’t raced since March 8 when close up behind Viduka in a race which has been a strong form reference, with four winners coming from it. Good fresh record, trialled well and stable is in form. Definite winning chance.

12 Ultimate Addiction (Bet Now: $17.00) for me. This mare is around a month between runs since breaking the maiden tag in impressive fashion at Balaklava, letting down strongly from off the speed to get the job done. Tick over trial was good and hopefully the inside gate is used to advantage.

5 Annika (Bet Now: $21.00) is a Mick Huxtable trained mare that resumes. This mare hasn’t raced since May 26 at Strathalbyn where she did work to get on speed and weakened late, but for mine, she looked a tired horse after a long prep. Is a first up winner, likes racing here, and is hard to beat.

11 Storm Voyager (Bet Now: $12.00) is yet to run a bad race on the course proper here, so I think at decent odds, she can sneak a first four spot. Resumed on the Parks track two weeks go and battled on okay in defeat when fourth to Dantree. Is a second up winner and is in with a shout if she gets luck from a potentially tricky draw.

9 Howl (Bet Now: $3.20) is putting together a good record for David Jolly. Has won two of his three career outings, the latest win being a few weeks back on the course proper when back off a fast speed before slicing his way through the field and driving hard late to get the job done. If he holds that vein of form, he’ll take beating.

5 Calypso Reign (Bet Now: $5.00) is a talented animal and a stablemate of Howl that resumes. This guy hasn’t raced since May 8 during the Carnival when down the track but far from disgraced behind Midnight Storm. Good fresh horse that has trialled well leading in, so watch the market.

4 Aadelad (Bet Now: $11.00) is a beauty for the Francis/Kent team that will get the speed on in front to launch over the top. Hasn’t raced for several weeks since a solid effort in a strong sprint race won by the very much in form Alleboom. Liked the tick over trial and will get last look.

13 Enlist (Bet Now: $12.00) has only won the one race, which was at 1000m, but is racing like he will eat up the mile. Ran over 1400m a fortnight back on the Parks track when back near last in the run and worked home with real purpose late when second to surprise winner Wylie Ol’ Coyote. Off that effort, 1600m should be fine and is a key threat.

2 Apache Star (Bet Now: $3.10) has a tricky gate to overcome, but hard to knock the way he is racing at the moment. He ran on the Parks track two weeks ago over 1550m when on speed throughout and fought on strongly when a narrow second to Crown Mint. Back a bit in grade/depth, he appeals despite the barrier.

Back in trip I find interesting with 5 Lord Gododdin (Bet Now: $21.00) but if they overdo it in front, he’ll be strong at the end. Latest run came over 1950m on the Parks track where he battled on pretty well in defeat in a handy middle distance race won by Exalted Ambition. Not sure he wins, but one for exotics.

NEXT BEST: Race Seven Number 9 Howl

LONG SHOT: Race Nine Number 13 Enlist
