16/1/2021 Horse Racing Tips and Best Bets – Murray Bridge

SA metro racing on Saturday remains at Murray Bridge for a nine race card. The weather is fine, the track is good (4) and the rail is out three metres from the 1600m-550m; True for the remainder.

Fitter and up to the mile, I’ll give the nod to 1 Dexter You Devil (Bet Now: $3.20). He’s on the quick back up after racing last Saturday here over 1400m, his first run in four weeks. Got back off the speed before young Opperman eased him to the outside and he finished off hard, just missing out on picking up Renegade. This is a good set up for him and should prove hard to beat.

5 Don’tdreamitsover (Bet Now: $2.10) is for Michael Hickmott. Two back won impressively at Morphettville. What I liked about the win was the way the former overseas galloper knuckled down late when required, surging late to get the job done. Backed up six days later and was good in defeat behind Dazzling Damsel. Now her confidence is up, could well go on with it.

This is potentially a starting point for 4 Eperdument (Bet Now: $9.50) towards another crack at the Adelaide Cup, a race she finished down the track in last year but did win at Stakes level prior, so with that in mind, she isn’t badly in here. Wants further than this, but can pull out a decent run fresh.

6 Stan The Caddy (Bet Now: $2.90) is hard fit, in form and in winning form. Loved the way he fought back to win two back in a moderate race at Oakbank but proved that was no fluke with a spank job of his rivals at Gawler two weeks ago. That was a 64. Now to a 78, but think he can measure up for sure.

3 Serious Spender (Bet Now: $3.50) is a mare that is in a real purple patch at the moment for the Macdonald/Gluyas team. Has won two on the bounce, the latest seeing her win the Southern Speed Series Final three weeks ago at Morphettville in an impressive display from off the speed. She’s flying and can make it three on the bounce.

1 Farooq (Bet Now: $6.00) looks suited back up in distance. Was good over the mile two back behind Black Syrah at Morphettville before going to 1500m at Gawler where he just found them a bit sharp but was still sound enough in defeat behind Pearl Bandit. Gets back out in trip and can run an improved race.

I think back to 1000m is the key to 5 Daily Spirit (Bet Now: $4.40). She has raced pretty well in all three runs this time in but the last couple, over 1100m, she just hasn’t savaged the line, so 1000m I do like for her. Latest run came over 1100m at Gawler where I thought Stubby gave her every chance and was there to win. Just couldn’t finish it off. She’s better than that and back to 1000m, think she’s the one.

11 Spinola Bay (Bet Now: $6.50) is coming back to 1000m, which I do find as a negative because she looks like she will appreciate 1200m, but she has got the talent. Comes through a Gawler maiden over 1100m and was a real eye catcher late when fourth to Indian Gazelle in a very good effort. If she’s within range on the turn, she’s good enough.

9 Point Blaze (Bet Now: $5.00) is a definite winning chance here. Shayne Cahill trained filly that resumed in a 1050m maiden at Morphettville and was very good from off the pace late when a close up third to Impossible Action. Think she wants further than this, but hopefully can sit closer in the run.

Leaning the way of 3 Investiture (Bet Now: $4.40), who resumes for the McEvoy camp. Hasn’t raced since his debut back in July at Strathalbyn when a solid third behind impressive winner and stablemate Meehni. Been given a good break and thought his recent Oakbank trial was more than encouraging.

The query is that 7 Bolt By (Bet Now: $3.60) may want a touch further, but he has come back well and should be strong at the end. Ran over this track/distance last time out and worked home strongly late when second to La Rapide. I reckon he wants 1400m, but the tempo should be genuine, giving him his chance.

13 Gogolf Guru (Bet Now: $4.80) looks well suited up to 1200m for the Macdonald/Gluyas camp. Resumed over 1000m here in a maiden when back near last in the run and was never really a winning threat, but liked the way she finished her race off. Crying out for more ground, which she gets, and does get Stubby sticking.

Can make a case here for the Shane Oxlade trained mare 8 Lady Pavli Chenko (Bet Now: $9.00). Resumed over 1100m at Gawler two weeks ago and you had to like the way she finished her race off from the back in a real eye catching effort behind Four Of A Kind. Fitter and up to 1200m, she’s likeable.

The Hickmott stable have scratched Promoter and are going with a sole runner in 2 Pindaric (Bet Now: $2.00), who is unbeaten in two career outings and resumes. Form around her from both wins does read very well and from the inside gate, should hold a forward spot and prove hard to beat. Is he short enough at even money?

3 Our Deep Agenda (Bet Now: $4.80) has done a really good job this time in for the Jon O’Connor camp and should prove hard to beat against this lot. Sat near the speed over 1100m at Gawler two weeks ago and tried hard, but that early burn to sit near the front just felt the pinch late when second to Four Of A Kind. Like her up to 1200m and will give a great sight.

1 Tibetan (Bet Now: $2.70) is a Michael Hickmott trained gelding that is on the seven day back up after resuming here last Saturday. He got back to near last off a moderate speed and was never really a winning factor, but liked the way he finished his race off behind La Richesse. Better suited here up in trip and has more upside than most.

2 Divanation (Bet Now: $4.80) is a watch horse. She will always have fans and be in the market due to who her mum is, three time Melbourne Cup winner Makybe Diva. Resumed over the mile at Morphettville on November 28 and on face value, she was pretty plain behind Black Syrah. Given a break, trialled up well and her best is clearly good enough.

4 Zoulah (Bet Now: $4.50) deserves another chance. Team McEvoy trained mare that ran over 2000m at Flemington on New Years Day and I’d be very forgiving of her effort. She was wide no cover for the trip and just forget she went around behind Doroza. Better suited here and start prior, should have bolted up.

Back to racing in SA I do like for 6 Aten (Bet Now: $4.50). Resumed with a dominant win at Morphettville before being sent to Melbourne when far from disgraced at Flemington before having little luck next time out at Caulfield behind Score. Back to SA, in a relatively thin race, she’s the one to beat.

4 Exalted Traveller (Bet Now: $7.00) has been up a little while for Grant Young but is still racing in good form. Put together a couple of wins on the bounce prior to racing at Gawler a fortnight back where he was near the speed throughout in the 1500m contest and battled away well, but for the most part had his chance behind Pearl Bandit. On his home track, he’ll prove hard to beat.

Want to give 8 Tony’s Reward (Bet Now: $16.00) another chance. Macdonald/Gluyas trained gelding that has had two runs for the new stable, both at Gawler. First up ran a game second to Ice Ghost, then two weeks ago, the tempo was just too hot for him and he was never in the hunt. Better than that and deserves another chance.

There looks to be a stack of speed here, so want to be on a horse that will close off, and one that will is 4 Atomic Lokade (Bet Now: $19.00). The stable sent her to Port Lincoln last time out for a confidence boost and she somewhat got it, working home strongly late to finish a close up second. Gets the claim, sits off a fast pace and will launch late.

A hot speed will also suit 3 Calypso Reign (Bet Now: $4.40), resuming for David Jolly. Go back three runs and he produced an electric finish from the back to get up and win impressively. Has run well in both fresh runs and the likely hot tempo in front will give him every chance to finish over the top.

You could mount an argument that 8 Mrs Hyde (Bet Now: $5.50) is the fastest horse in SA. She is a brilliant beginner who has great speed and should lead this field up. Found a perfect race last time out, which was over 900m here, and her racing pattern saw her prove too good. Last bit will test her here, but she’ll look the winner at some stage.

I hope 3 Enigman (Bet Now: $6.00) runs here. At the time or writing this guy is also accepted for Flemington but much prefer him running here because the depth isn’t strong and I think he’s flying. Should have won fresh on Ballarat Cup Day before going to Pakenham when okay late from the back behind Sirius Suspect. Subsequent jumpout at Terang looked very sharp…gee he looks a great bet here.

8 Hint Of Mint (Bet Now: $6.50) has the engine under the hood to give this a shake. Andrew Noblet trained mare who ran down the straight at Flemington on New Years Day where the tempo and race shape was against her but she was still sound in defeat behind Riding The Wave. If gate one is used to advantage, she’ll be dangerous.

2 Fox Hall (Bet Now: $8.00) can be a big improver here at odds. He is five weeks between runs since racing in the Christmas Handicap at Morphettville won by stablemate Savatoxl, and you have to remember that was a meeting where you had to be near the speed/fence, so given he was back near last, jut forget he went around. Much better suited here and can take this out off a more genuine tempo.

NEXT BEST: Race Three Number 5 Daily Spirit

LONG SHOT: Race Five Number 8 Lady Pavli Chenko
