Race 1. (11:00) Chandon Hcp 1400m
1 Sovereign Hill (Bet Now: $SP.00) wouldn’t have looked out of place in the JJ Atkins so with that in mind, he does appear really well placed here. He was on speed throughout over 1300m here two weeks ago and gave a good sight but just found one better in Emirate. Looks the leader, some form of control, and takes running down.
8 Superhero (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a juvenile that I think has an engine under the hood. He did more than enough on debut at Gosford over 1100m before going to 1300m here a fortnight back where he got too far out of his ground but he kept finding the line in a decent effort behind Emirate. Like him up to 1400m and dangerous if he can settle closer.
9 Vetwelve (Bet Now: $SP.00) is one of the leading contenders at odds. He was held up at a crucial stage when debuting at Canterbury but wasn’t too bad late in the piece in defeat behind Depth Of Character. Like him up to 1400m on the bigger track, maps well and with the claim, he’s in with a shout.
Race 2. (11:35) Midway (Bm72) 1200m
14 Glenbower (Bet Now: $SP.00) looks the one to beat after scratchings. This colt was down to run at Newcastle and look to make it 2/2 there this afternoon but instead, he comes to the Midway. The first up win at Newcastle was arrogant and he made an absolute mess of them. That was a maiden though and jumps straight to Midway grade, but he does look quite promising.
13 Flightcrew (Bet Now: $SP.00) is right down in the weights after the claim and has a good racing style. She ran a fortnight back here in the Midway won by Yiska. She sat on speed throughout and tried her guts out but just couldn’t quite see it through. I think with her racing style and lightweight, she’ll give cheek.
11 Sebrenco (Bet Now: $SP.00) is an improver at odds for Tracey Bartley. This mare resumed in the Yiska Midway from two weeks back over 1100m here. She got out of her ground and did make up headway without threatening behind Yiska. Think a firmer deck will really help the cause and becomes more dangerous if ridden with a touch more intent.
Race 3. (12:10) Tab Highway Hcp (C3) 1400m
2 Know Thyself (Bet Now: $SP.00) should take beating here for the Messara/Gavranich camp. This gelding resumed over 1250m at Canterbury at the midweeks where he just looked a bit rusty, in need of the run, but did keep on finding the line in a solid return behind Shehasattitude. Fitter and up in trip, he looks a really good prospect and better than Highway grade.
11 Invasive Dreams (Bet Now: $SP.00) also brings midweek form and she looks set up to run really well. She did enough first up in the Denise’s Joy at Scone before going to Warwick Farm where she was held up at times but her last 100m or so was very good in the worst ground. Two short course runs under the belt, now up to 1400m, she commands respect.
13 Royal Teens (Bet Now: $SP.00) is racing as if 1400m will be okay. Terry Evans trains this mare, who was down the track in a Highway at Newcastle two back before going 1250m at Taree where she was chasing from a fair way out but she kept finding the line and only just missed when a narrow second. Not sure she wins, but a first four contender.
Race 4. (12:45) James Squire (Bm78) 2000m
I am convinced that 6 Principessa (Bet Now: $SP.00) is flying for Joe Pride and on the seven day back up, up in trip, I think she is the each way gamble. She ran over the mile last Saturday at Randwick where she got back in the run and took forever to wind into her work but she was very good late in the piece behind Bright Red. Like her up to 2000m, good upside…each way for me.
5 Kureder (Bet Now: $SP.00) is finding it hard to win but is honest and thereabouts. Just got a bit too far out of his ground three weeks ago at Randwick but did keep finding the line and the run had good merit to it in defeat behind Golden Path. Back to 78 grade, home track, hard to beat if he can settle closer.
2 Camaguey (Bet Now: $SP.00) is three weeks between runs for Kim Waugh since racing over 2000m at Randwick in a pretty solid 88 and was solid late without threatening behind a nice horse in Golden Path. He’s been up a little while but has been racing pretty well, certainly good enough to be more than competitive here.
Race 5. (13:20) Tab (Bm72) 1400m
5 Captain Furai (Bet Now: $SP.00) has done little wrong in his three start career for Chris Waller and rates highly. He ran two weeks ago where he tried his guts out on the testing ground and for a few strides, looked the winner, but had to settle for a second to Franz Josef. Like him on a firmer deck and hard to beat if there is petrol left in the tank.
8 How Dare You (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a progressive filly for James Cummings that is heading in the right direction and confident she can measure up here. She resumed during the Scone Carnival where she got into a decent spot just off the speed before angling into clear air and she let down with purpose late to win and win well. Tick over trial was quite good, she’ll be strong late and has good upside.
1 True Crime (Bet Now: $SP.00) can run an improved race at odds for Kim Waugh. He ran at the midweeks at Canterbury last time out when near the speed throughout and he tried his guts out but couldn’t quite finish it off, tiring late behind Little Contreau. That was his first run in a couple of months so I do think he has room for improvement.
Race 6. (13:55) Precise Air (Bm78) 1300m
10 Eye Pea Oh (Bet Now: $SP.00) is humming for Team Freedman and is bursting to win a race. Good against the pattern at Newcastle two back before racing here two weeks ago where she just got a mile out of her ground despite drawing well and she rocketed to the line late behind impressive winner Yiska. If she can settle closer in the run, I think she’ll take beating.
8 Anagain (Bet Now: $SP.00) finds it hard to win, but she is an honest mare for Joe Pride that is rarely far away from the thick end of the prize. She ran at Randwick a few weeks back and was good from off the speed. She kept on chasing without being a winning threat when third to a nice filly, Konasana. She has that 1400m run under the belt, which means she should be stronger at the end.
1 Ha Ha Ha (Bet Now: $SP.00) is an interesting runner. Former Irish galloper that makes her Australian debut for GaiBott and we know this stable are very good with imports, Eliyass being the recent example. She has had two trials to get ready for her debut down under and each trial has been solid enough, so watch the market.
Race 7. (14:30) Atc Foundation (Bm72) 1100m
2 Passeggiata (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a speed demon for Bjorn Baker who will look the winner for a long way. That was indeed the case a few weeks back over 1000m at Randwick and gave a strong kick from the front but had no answers for the finale of The Black Cloud. Her jump/run racing style gives herself every chance to see this out and win.
5 Hanau (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a James Cummings trained gelding that resumes. He is first up, having not raced since Feb 16 at Canterbury when giving them a start and a beating in an electric performance. Went out for a spell on a high and he looks to have trialled up really well for his return. Leading chance.
7 Wild Botanica (Bet Now: $SP.00) is three weeks between runs for Joe Pride since resuming over 1000m at Randwick. She got into a decent spot just off the speed and tried her guts out but she couldn’t quite get there when fourth to stablemate The Black Cloud. Tick over trial last week behind stablemate Testator Silens was strong and she’ll be charging at them late.
Race 8. (15:05) Winter Cup 2400m
I had a throw at the stumps with 3 Mount Popa (Bet Now: $SP.00) last Saturday and I’ll do it again here, especially with a wet track. He looked to be trucking on the turn last Saturday in the Lord Mayors Cup but as seen as Jay Ford went for him, he found zilch. I think he is a much better horse at Rosehill vs Randwick, he’s hard fit now and he swims. Each way for me.
2 Hopeful (Bet Now: $SP.00) is on the seven day back up after racing last Saturday in the Lord Mayors Cup where he was badly held up when wanting to get clear air and I think you can make a case to say he wins if he got clear air when second to Eliyass. Like him up to 2400m and the depth here isn’t deep.
4 Torrens (Bet Now: $SP.00) is an improver at odds. He resumed last Saturday in the Lord Mayors Cup where he got back to near last in the run and although he was never a winning threat, he found the line and was quite good in defeat behind Eliyass. Fitter and up in trip, firmer footing, a win wouldn’t shock.
Race 9. (15:45) Racing For Good On July 13 (Bm78) 1500m
6 Franz Josef (Bet Now: $SP.00) has done little wrong in a four start career and rates highly. Ryan/Alexiou trained gelding that was a strong winner here a fortnight back. He was strongly challenged by Captain Furai but he was able to fend it off and he kept finding, proving quite strong to the line in winning. Room for improvement, he takes beating.
1 I’mintowin (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a GaiBott trained son of Contributer that resumes. He is first up, having not raced since Dec 9 when midfield in the ATC Cup over 2000m. Given a good break and his trial work to prepare for his return has been quite good to the eye. Lands on speed, tough, he’ll be hard to run down.
4 Vegas Outlaw (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a definite improver for Sara Ryan. He resumed three weeks back over 1400m at Randwick where he got back in the run and while he was never a winning threat, he kept finding the line and was a definite pass mark in defeat behind Diamond Diesel. Fitter and up in trip, not dismissing him.
Race 10. (16:25) Rosehill Bowling Club (Bm78) 1300m
9 Sir Ravanelli (Bet Now: $SP.00) is an absolute beauty for Terry Evans and should he run well here, then I dare say he is heading to Grafton for the Ramornie. He has been kept on ice since a dominant win at Newcastle on Coast Day when out in the worst part of the track but let down with purpose. Harder here, but think he measures up.
14 Step Aside (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a son of Redwood for Chris Waller that resumes. He is first up, having not raced since Jan 20 when a close up fifth at Randwick behind stablemate Buillt. He tends to race best on the fresh side and his trials to get ready for his return has been quite good.
3 Testator Silens (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a big, big improver for Joe Pride. He resumed three weeks ago over 1000m at Randwick where he got back to near last in the run and did make up decent ground without threatening behind The Black Cloud. Tick over trial was a good piece of work, he loves Rosehill and has a great second up record.
