2 Indicative (Bet Now:Β $3.50) on top in the opener. Formerly with Paul Messara, he now finds himself with Cameron Crockett. He has shown good promise throughout his career and I loved the way he went in a recent Tamworth trial, closing off under a hold to get within 0.2L of a tearaway leader. McEvoy on from a good draw, he’ll do me.

Danger

7 Seahaven (Bet Now:Β $7.50) creates interest. Well bred Mikki Isle gelding for Paul Messara that is on debut. He led throughout to win a recent Tamworth trial and looked to move pretty well when winning. Drawn wide, but home track advantage, big day, I think he’s here to rock and roll.

Long Shot

4 McLellan (Bet Now:Β $12.00) is a knockout hope. He ran over 1375m at Cowra last time out where he was given a peach ride off the speed. Loomed to win but the 1375m just found him out, tiring to finish second. Back to 1300m I like and I love the booking of Hugh Bowman. If he remains $20+, he’s worth something very small to win.

Race 2. (12:25) Yalumba Mdn Hcp 1000m

7 Kayobi (Bet Now:Β $7.50) is a Maurice gelding resuming for Paul Messara and I think can be quite dangerous. His debut came in September at Muswellbrook when getting the 1/1 sit and loomed to win. Just couldn’t quite finish the job when second to Loversfield. He led and won a recent Tamworth trial where he wandered about under pressure but moved pretty well. Keen to see how he goes.

Danger

1 Hamaki (Bet Now:Β $3.20) is a son of Winning Rupert for Team Snowden that resumes and returns to racing as a gelding. Hasn’t raced since Jan 18 at Wyong when on speed and gave a good kick but couldn’t quite finish it off. Gelded, and he showed good change up speed to win a recent Randwick trial. Hard to beat.

Long Shot

2 Fielding (Bet Now:Β $14.00) is a Damien Lane trained three year old that resumes. He placed in all three career outings when last in work, looming to win but just failing to finish it off. Interesting he resumes without a public trial, but has early speed to take care of the wide gate and should be thereabouts.

Race 3. (13:00) Stablewizard Hcp (C1) 1600m

1 Baltic Coast (Bet Now:Β $3.30) looks a pretty good prospect for Kris Lees. Former UK galloper that made his Australian debut at Newcastle where he absolutely trucked in the run on testing ground and once the button was pushed, he spanked them and was dominant. Looked every bit as good in a tick over trial and he potentially looks city class. Keen.

Danger

4 Your Temptation (Bet Now:Β $8.00) is heading in the right direction for Wayne Wilkes. Both runs this time in have come at Newcastle, resuming with a solid third before going a couple better last start with a spank job win on a bottomless track. 1600m looks fine and has good upside to come.

Long Shot

17 King Kikau (Bet Now:Β $26.00) is one I could entertain for wider multiples. He resumed on a very testing track at Taree over an unusuitable trip, more or less a barrier trial for him, when down the track. I think he lacks the class of some of these, but has wet ground form and is down in the weights.

Race 4. (13:35) Ridgmont Farm Hcp (C1) 1100m

I’ll take a punt on 12 Summer Glow (Bet Now:Β $7.00), who resumes for Paul Messara. This mare has shown good promise throughout her career. The overall form around her reads solid for a race like this and she won a recent Tamworth trial in good style, beating stablemate Freedom Square, who won the Highway last Saturday. Soft gate, she’ll be handy and hard to beat.

Danger

1 Egyptian Tycoon (Bet Now:Β $4.00) is a John Sargent trained three year old that is having start two here, after a dominant debut win on the Kenso track on Anzac Day where he showed good change up speed on testing ground. Doubt he beat much, but is a last start city winner so he commands respect.

Long Shot

7 Siyata (Bet Now:Β $5.50) is a very interesting runner. Former UK mare that makes her Australian debut for John O’Shea. Form around her, as a whole, isn’t overly flash, but always have to respect these imports when they come across, and I thought her Randwick trial was a pass mark. Market will tell you if she’s ready.

Race 5. (14:10) Capitalist @ Newgate Hcp (C1) 1100m

Back Me

3 Velorum (Bet Now:Β $10.00) is a Not A Single Doubt for Paul Messara that resumes. He hasn’t raced since November 23 at Newcastle when close up behind a handy one for Kris Lees in Miracle Day. Not the best of winning strike rates, but has shown enough to suggest he has talent, and his two trials have been strong.

Danger

6 Amegdul (Bet Now:Β $6.00) is a James Cummings trained three year old that resumes and returns to racing as a gelding. Last run came on August 18 at Sandown when far from disgraced behind a handy galloper in Sandy Prince. Gelded and his recent Rosehill trial was a strong piece of work on speed. Key threat.

Long Shot

15 Penny Halfpenny (Bet Now:Β $26.00) is a daughter of Animal Kingdom for Cameron Crockett that resumes. This filly is first up, having not raced since December 4 here when a fair way back in the run and was good late without threatening. Closed off nicely in a Tamworth trial and if they overdo it in front, look for her to launch late.

Race 6. (14:45) Portland Sky New To Widden-C2 1300m

Back Me

7 Camino Real (Bet Now:Β $2.05) will need luck from the gate but she is clearly the best horse in the race. James Cummings trained filly that was eight weeks between runs when racing on testing ground at Warwick Farm and that lack of fitness beat her I feel when a narrow second to Lisdoonvarna. Fitter, she’ll take a power of beating.

Danger

1 Park Avenue (Bet Now:Β $5.00) hasn’t won in a long time but that said, he is racing well. Ran over 1200m at Eagle Farm just under two weeks ago where he had a suck run behind the speed and tried his guts out but bumped into a smart one in Arentee. The weight is the concern, but he has the runs on the board.

Long Shot

14 Fiendish (Bet Now:Β $18.00) is big odds here I feel. He won like it was a track gallop to break the maiden status at Muswellbrook two back before going to Gunnedah where he was an alarming drifter in betting, largely due to drawing wide and a bias towards those nearer the inside, so forgive the down the track effort. Drawn soft, home track, I can easily have something on him at the big price.

Back Me

To me, this is a race where you can have a throw at the stumps and I will be doing that via 6 Sizzle Minizzle (Bet Now:Β $17.00). Brett Robb trains this gelding, who debuted in the Star Kingdom at Muswellbrook. He was run off his legs early and for a juvenile at start one, he could have spat the dummy out, but he ran through the pain barrier and was quite good late. Has that run under the belt and will be strong late.

Danger

17 Vegas Raider (Bet Now:Β $4.50) is a son of Invader for David Pfieffer that is on debut and I think he could well be above average. He sat off speed in his most recent trial but the change up speed was there for all to see. It was very impressive. If he gets luck from the draw, he’ll take beating.

Long Shot

3 Pocket Picker (Bet Now:Β $13.00) is a son of Flying Artie for Mark Mason that is on debut. He spanked them in a trial win here, winning by 14 lengths. But, the time was just fair relative to the morning. But, it was a solid piece of work and he’ll be out of trouble on speed, giving a good sight.

Race 8. (16:00) Scone Cup 1600m

Back Me

5 Dr Drill (Bet Now:Β $4.40) looks a near good thing to my eye. Maher/Eustace trains this guy, who is a previous winner of this race. He resumed in the Victoria Handicap at Caulfield and it was more or less a barrier trial for him in an ugly watch for his supporters behind Ayrton. Drawn out, so he’ll get good over prove strong late. Great bet for mine.

Danger

10 Rustic Steel (Bet Now:Β $4.50) is on the quick back up for Kris Lees after winning The Coast last Saturday at Gosford. The ride from Jay Ford won the race. He was on a horse with a lightweight, a query at the trip. Best way to take care of that is lead and get control, which he did and won. Harder here, but he’s in form and maps well once again.

Long Shot

2 Our Playboy (Bet Now:Β $9.00) comes right into the mix now with a wet track. He ran in The Coast and tried hard. Just not sure he was 100% happy around Gosford, plus the sit/sprint set up wasn’t to his liking with the big weight. Better set up here, he can bounce back hard.

Race 9. (16:40) Kia Ora Country Cup (Bm84) 1400m

Imagine what you could be buying instead.

Back Me

17 Toretto (Bet Now:Β $11.00) for me in the get out. Matty Dale trains and clearly, just put a line through his last start effort where he found a Heavy265 at Randwick and couldn’t pick his feet up. He’ll be better on firmer footing and in a truly run 1400m, he’ll be strong late if there is petrol in the tank.

Danger

8 Mr Hussill (Bet Now:Β $5.00) looks the map horse for Cameron Crockett. He won a Highway at Randwick where he was given a good ride from Tom Sherry and in a slog to the line, finished best. Firmer footing and should get a lovely run in transit from the gate. He’ll take beating.

Long Shot

4 Intuition (Bet Now:Β $17.00) is a Kurt Goldman trained gelding that resumes. He hasn’t won since Moses parted the sea, but is generally thereabouts and is well placed in a race like this. Looked to move well in a recent Wagga trial. Tommy Berry booked from a good draw, fresh at 1400m, I think there is intent.
