One of the great racedays on the calendar is Magic Millions Day at the Gold Coast and the 2025 edition shapes up to be a beauty on Saturday. The weather is fine, the track is soft (7) and the rail is in the true position for the entire circuit.

Race 1. (13:30) Magic Millions Mdn Plate 1100m
7 Hell March (Bet Now: $SP.00) on top in an open race. Edmonds/McLean trained gelding that resumes, having not raced since June 29 on the Poly here when beaten at Winx odds, looking very plain after very strong efforts prior. Been given a good break and the trial work to get ready has been strong.
12 Volatile (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a very interesting runner. Peter Snowden trains this three year old, who contested some decent races as a juvenile but didn’t quite measure up. He’s been given a good break and his recent Rosehill trial win was sharp. Definite threat.
4 Brazen Act (Bet Now: $SP.00) should appreciate a rise to 1200m. He was 1200m back to 1000m at the Sunny Coast last time out and kept chasing from off the speed but found one better. Like him back up to 1200m and maps ideally in the big field. Hard to beat.
Race 2. (14:05) Magic Millions Country Cup 1200m
7 Slippin Jimmy (Bet Now: $SP.00) for me in what looks an open edition of the Country Cup. He resumes for David Vandyke, having not raced since Coffs Harbour Cup Day when a sharp winner over 1000m. He has been effective at this trip and further, so that is no issue, and first up here, there is intent. Happy to be in his corner.
6 Quade (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a Tony Gollan trained galloper that earned his way into this off the back of a dominant win in a Qualifier at Warwick where he spanked them and ran decent time. He has run well at this level previously and with that 1200m run under the belt, he appeals.
10 Mr Rock It (Bet Now: $SP.00) is racing well for Team Price and appeals off the back of a win in the Town Plate at Moruya where he gave them a start and a beating, which followed efforts where he was knocking on the door. 1200m is fine, stable in form…he’s a knockout hope.
Race 3. (14:40) Magic Millions The Debut 1000m
3 Darn Hot Lady (Bet Now: $SP.00) is on top for me. Liam Birchley trained filly that was a sharp trial winner here last Tuesday, winning by a space over 850m and ran very fast time, so the grounding is there for this and good lead that the stable finds Craig Williams.
10 Saytara (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a well bred filly for GaiBott. She has had two trials to get ready for start one, placing in the first trial before a strong second over 900m at Rosehill when moving well in decent time. Stable have had a good season to date with their juveniles and she does look talented.
1 Steel Knight (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a Neasham/Archibald trained colt that comes here off the back of a strong trial win over this track/distance last Tuesday where he won by a space and ran decent time. He has got better with each trial and is bred to be good so watch the market.
Race 4. (15:15) Magic Millions Subzero 2200m
Punch me in the head for diving in again…but I am with 6 Tannhauser (Bet Now: $SP.00), again. He has let me down badly the past two runs, but take the emotion and pocket talk out of it. He has been back in races that have been sit/sprints, a set up that isn’t his go. He is racing like he will love 2200m and the tempo will be more genuine.
5 Belvedere Boys (Bet Now: $SP.00) has become a real stayer this prep after looking a 1200m/1400m horse once upon a time. He has raced like he wants more ground, and the end result has been a couple of impressive wins on the bounce, the latest coming in the Shoot Out two weeks ago. 2200m no issue, handles all conditions, hard to beat.
2 Sky Lab (Bet Now: $SP.00) won this race two years ago and I think isn’t racing too bad. He ran in the Summer Cup at Randwick last time out. He got a fair way out of his ground and while he was never threatening, he found the line well enough behind Tavi Time. If the rain comes, which is forecast, then he comes right into play.
Race 5. (15:50) Magic Millions Fillies & Mares 1300m
8 Anahita (Bet Now: $SP.00) looks to be sneaky flying for Chris Waller and is a definite winning chance. She got back to near last in the run in the Nudgee last start and while she was never a winning threat, I loved the way she closed off in defeat behind impressive winner Bubba’s Bay. If she can settle closer, be within range, she has the finale to take this out.
5 Bubba’s Bay (Bet Now: $SP.00) is an absolute beauty for Kris Lees. She got the beaut run in transit in the Nudgee two weeks ago but still had to take advantage of it and that she did, knuckling down with purpose late to win and win well. Harder here but hard to knock how well she’s racing.
13 Left Field (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a Brad Widdup trained mare that is flying at present and can measure up here. Loved the way she let down to win at Randwick last time, giving them a start and a beating to win. Likely spots them a start once again but should be quite strong at the end.
Race 6. (16:25) Magic Millions Snippets 1200m
5 Semana (Bet Now: $SP.00) won on this day last year and looks on track to repeat the dose. She hasn’t raced since the Alan Brown during the Spring at Rosehill when producing an end of prep run, finishing down the track behind Here To Shock. Freshened up, nice trial at Newcastle to tick her over and she flies fresh.
9 Nettuno (Bet Now: $SP.00) looks to be sneaky flying for Tony Gollan and can take this out. He was enormous in the Falvelon I thought. Four wide the entire trip, near the food truck on the turn, but still wound up with purpose and clocked good late splits. If the breaks go his way, he is certainly good enough to win.
8 Hedged (Bet Now: $SP.00) is third up from a spell and should just about be at peak fitness. He comes through the Razor Sharp at Randwick where he was keen on speed and using that energy early just told on him late in the piece, tiring to be beaten under two lengths by Jedibeel. Hard fit, and better racing manners, he can win.
Race 7. (17:05) Magic Millions 2Yo Classic 1200m
It’s hard to ignore 9 La Bella Boom (Bet Now: $SP.00) and her win in the Pearl on the weekend. Yes, she had the right run in transit, but even allowing for that, gee she was arrogant and the fact she was eased down the final 50-75m, she was sharp. Upside, brings the best last start performance IMO…the one to beat.
6 Icarian Dream (Bet Now: $SP.00) is three weeks between runs for Ciaron Maher since taking out the Bruce McLachlan. Yes, she was kissed on the date with the ride/run she got, and a couple of runners flopped, but she did put them away relatively easy, and the stable loves to target this race. Leading contender.
Gee I am a fan of 16 Forgotten Spirit (Bet Now: $SP.00). She has done nothing wrong in two career outings. Did more than enough in The Debut before going to the Pearl last Saturday where she made up many lengths and worked home with real purpose when second to La Bella Boom. Home track advantage and she’ll eat up 1200m. She can win.
Race 8. (17:45) Magic Millions 3Yo Guineas 1400m
It’s hard to get away from 18 Tulleries (Bet Now: $SP.00). She has been dynamic in two starts/wins this time in, the latest at Randwick when taking on the older horses and yes, she was held up at times, but when clear, gee she let down like a good horse to win and win well. The one on the up and she has gears, something most of these do not have.
14 Bauhinia (Bet Now: $SP.00) is the one that has been specifically set for the race and she looks to be humming. Loved the way she let down to give them a start and a beating in the Wyong Magic Millions, producing great change up speed to win impressively. Tick over trial was lovely, she’ll be strong late and does have class.
2 Give Me Space (Bet Now: $SP.00) and his Vo Rogue win was incredible. He gave them a start and a beating, rounding up his rivals from last to win so damn impressively. Not sure how he goes at the Gold Coast vs Eagle Farm, but he will be one of the strongest late and is a must for exotics.
Race 9. (18:20) Magic Millions Cup (Rl) 1400m
6 Charm Stone (Bet Now: $SP.00) looks so well in here. Price/Kent trained mare that has been freshened up since the Rupert Clarke at Caulfield where not much went right for her in the straight so forgive and forget the run. Looked to trial well at Rosehill and maps perfect, plus is very well in at the weights.
19 Redford (Bet Now: $SP.00) is the one for me. He rises big time in grade/depth, but his win at the Sunny Coast last Saturday was incredible. He gave a Group performer, Moravia, 3kg as well as a start, but he beat him and knuckled down with real purpose late to win and win well. He gets massive weight relief this time around, he’ll be strong late and won’t mind if there is rain about. Only runs well.
15 Bel Air (Bet Now: $SP.00) commands respect for Team Freedman. He ended last prep on a high when winning at Flemington on Cup Day over 1400m, finishing best to win narrowly but impressively. Liked a jumpout from him last week and stable should be respected when they are on the road.
Race 10. (18:55) Racing Queensland Magic Millions Open 1300m
15 Busting (Bet Now: $SP.00) looks ready to go on with it for Tony Gollan. He was bursting to win but couldn’t quite get there. That all changed at the Sunny Coast last time, giving them a start and a beating in an electric performance. He has found winning form now, he has change up speed, handles all conditions…keen.
1 Yellow Brick (Bet Now: $SP.00) is the class runner of the field and class will carry him a long way towards victory. He resumes for Team Sears after a pretty solid Spring prep, which ended with a gallant third in the Five Diamonds to Pericles, who would be odds on against these. That form reads well, he flies fresh and looked great in a trial last week.
2 Cifrado (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a beauty for Rex Lipp and should be given respect. He comes through The Buffering from two weeks back where he got off the speed and kept chasing in a pretty good effort in defeat behind Transatlantic. Very consistent and should be around the mark.
