10/7/2021 Horse Racing Tips and Best Bets – Gawler

I do like 2 Poysed To Rein (Bet Now: $2.05) back to this level. Sharp winner fresh on the Parks track. Then went to Flemington where she was well supported, but got caught wide and couldn’t quite finish it off. Rises significantly in weight but to counter, this is a massive drop in grade/depth, so think she can bounce back.

3 Jyoti (Bet Now: $8.00) probably hasn’t gone on with it since her juvenile season but this is a winnable race for her if she found anything near her best. Resumed over 1200m on the Synthetic at Ballarat where she was a notable drifter in betting and ran up to that with a fourth to a proven city performer, It’s Kind Of Magic. If she brings her best, she can take this out.

1 It’s Kind Of Magic (Bet Now: $6.00) has always shown good ability but just hadn’t been able to produce that on race day on a consistent basis. Can that change here because she does comes here off the back of a strong on speed win on the Synthetic at Ballarat. Gives this a big shake if she is anywhere near her best.

5 Apache Star (Bet Now: $3.90) for me. Former Team Freedman galloper that now finds himself with Phillip Stokes. This three year old had a two run Summer prep to start the career, the highlight being the debut when second at Kilmore. Two jumpouts to get ready have been strong and stable have a decent record with cast offs.

8 Sicilian Witness (Bet Now: $8.00) is a Star Witness first starter for Travis Doudle that commands respect. This three year old has had several jumpouts throughout this prep and the Spring of last year, so has certainly had a strong enough grounding, and his recent jumpouts suggest he’s ready to go.

11 Vondexter (Bet Now: $15.00) is a Chris Bieg trained filly that resumes. They tried to get her to be a Carnival horse as a juvenile but that didn’t work, and she didn’t exactly fire in two Spring runs, so jury is out whether she does have ability, but off her jumpouts, I am convinced she does have ability.

6 Icecrusher (Bet Now: $2.90) is a mare that is absolutely flying at the moment for Shayne Cahill and I think she can win again. Ran over the mile on the course proper at Morphettville two weeks ago where she was absolutely trucking under Opperman. Just a matter of pushing the button and once he did, it was race over and she was impressive. Just has to hold her form.

8 Unlaced (Bet Now: $4.40) is a big watch here. Michael Hickmott trained mare that resumes and given he has eyes on the premiership, I would suspect this mare is wound up for the next few weeks. She resumes and can sprint well fresh, plus there has been market support since Wednesday.

7 Tubby Two Tracks (Bet Now: $6.00) is yet to prove herself beyond the mile so back to 1500m I do like. That is the impression I got after her last start effort over the mile at Murray Bridge, closing off with real purpose late in the piece behind Scottish Dancer. Off that effort, a truly run 1500m here should be fine, and she has a touch of quality when right.

Playing a straight bat here with 2 Taunting (Bet Now: $2.10). Son of Brazen Beau for Michael Hickmott that bolted up two weeks ago at Morphettville on testing ground. Sat outside Strike Eagle, quickly put him to bed and raced clear late for a dominant win. This race, as a whole, isn’t much stronger, so he’ll do me.

1 Murrami Express (Bet Now: $6.00) will need luck from the wide gate but does have the runs on the board with a win in what looked a strong Geelong maiden. Then went to Flemington and was far from disgraced behind Blushing Tycoon. Just needs luck from the draw to be around the mark.

3 Strike Eagle (Bet Now: $9.50) will put himself on speed and give his all. He tried to do that fresh at Morphettville but tired and just felt the pinch late when second to Taunting. Off that run, I can’t see him turning the tables, but despite drawing wide, does possess good gate speed.

5 Tessneem (Bet Now: $5.00) is a beautifully bred filly with a decent price tag, so keen to see how she goes. Solid debut at Ballarat on heavy ground when second. Then went to the Synthetic there where she was on speed throughout before being clicked up and away she went. She was dominant and does have more to come I feel.

4 Mutinous (Bet Now: $5.50) looks hard to beat, especially with Lady Simone not running. He does look a speed horse, so with that filly out, he potentially gets the lead and control. Spanked them at Balaklava last time out and that could be the confidence boost he needs to go on with it.

8 Champagne Affair (Bet Now: $15.00) is capable with her best form. Gordon Richards trained filly that is three weeks between runs since racing over 1000m at Murray Bridge. She was ridden warm, perhaps a bit too warm, and failed to finish it off behind Atomic Lokade. Better suited here and her best is good enough to be around the mark.

6 Great Diviner (Bet Now: $4.20) looks a talented three year old for Will Clarken and he should prove hard to beat in a race like this. Tough on speed win at Murray Bridge three weeks ago. He was there to be run down but found plenty under pressure and was too good. Nearer the inside as well, which wasn’t the A1 ground so another tick in that regard. Hard to beat.

4 Lake’s Folly (Bet Now: $6.00) has good upside to come. Michael Hickmott trained gelding that resumed at Morphettville a fortnight ago. He got a fair way back in the run and closed off with real purpose late when third to Frankie Pinot in an excellent effort. Saves his best for 1200m and can sit closer in the run.

2 Kayseri (Bet Now: $4.50) is bursting to win a race this time in and he gets another great chance here. He was a month between runs when racing at Morphettville two weeks ago. He was near the speed throughout but looked to travel well. Toeroek pushed the button and the response was there, but he couldn’t quite finish it off and was nabbed late by Frankie Pinot. Fitter, he appeals.

8 Extreme Thill (Bet Now: $11.00) looks to have returned in really good order for the Francis/Kent team. Electric win from the back when winning at Morphettville during the Carnival. Had fresh legs leading into Murray Bridge a few weeks back when again getting back to near last in the run and finishing off with purpose behind Too Good Too Hard. Hard to beat now he’s fitter.

10 Maha (Bet Now: $2.30) is a talented filly for the McEvoy camp that is a few weeks between runs since racing in the Creswick Final when a close up fourth to surprise winner Free To Move. That race didn’t rate well at all but the form since has been solid enough, well enough for a race like this.

7 Mum’s My Hero (Bet Now: $9.50) is third up from a spell now for Craig Curtis and should just about be ready to go fitness wise. Comes through the Aadelad race from a fortnight back at Morphettville. He got back in the run and while he was never really a winning threat, I liked the way he finished his race off. He can sit closer in the run and be dangerous.

10 The Brumby (Bet Now: $3.90) is a Team McEvoy trained three year old that is a few weeks between runs since racing over 1400m at Sandown. He got back in the run but I liked the way he finished his race off when third to a talented animal, Knock Knock. Up in trip I like and the stable look like they are sending over some strong horse flesh to try and win the premiership, this guy included.

2 Li’l Hank (Bet Now: $4.50) has gate one and a firmer deck, so he can be a big improver here. He was plain behind Frankie Pinot two weeks back at Morphettville but I just don’t think he handled the track. Much better suited here and with the claim for Lewis German, he appeals.

3 Cannot Be Serios (Bet Now: $16.00) is on the seven day back up for Michael Hickmott after resuming last Saturday at Murray Bridge. He did a bit of work in the run to get on speed and that early burn just told late when fifth to Just Folk. This looks a drop in depth and he has reacted on the quick back up before.

Clearly with 1 Not Usual Glorious (Bet Now: $1.90). 3/3 since arriving in Australia and each time has been impressive, the latest being two weeks ago at Morphettville when drawing clear late in impressive fashion on testing ground. The way he’s racing, 2100m will be fine and gets in well at the weights.

3 Lord Bouzeron (Bet Now: $3.70) has found a purple patch in form and this Michael Hickmott runner should prove hard to beat. Outstayed them impressively to win two back on the Parks track. Then raced on the course proper there where he tried hard, but was no match late for a very progressive horse in Not Usual Glorious. He’ll run his usual honest race once again.

6 Dr Dependable (Bet Now: $18.00) is racing well for the Macdonald/Gluyas camp and is suited here on a track he does like. Ran behind Not Usual Glorious two weeks back and battled on pretty well to run third in testing conditions. Little while between wins, but is honest and should be around the mark.

NEXT BEST: Race One Number 2 Poysed To Rein

LONG SHOT: Race Seven Number 8 Extreme Thrill
