Race 1. (12:10) Next Payments Hcp 1100m
10 Alzaro (Bet Now: $SP.00) should be better for the debut run, which came two weeks ago at The Valley when just off the pace in a field of four before angling into clear air and she tried hard but couldn’t quite see it through when second to Saluted. Fitter, up in trip, she takes beating against these I say.
8 Prince Tycoon (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a Busuttin/Young trained juvenile that is on debut. He has looked very strong in jumpout work at Cranbourne to get ready for start one, winning each time and moved with purpose. Keen to see how he goes.
3 Latin Boss (Bet Now: $SP.00) lands on speed and will take running down after an all the way win at Pakenham and credit to him, he was there to be run down but he found under pressure to fend them off and score. If the extra 100m is fine, he rates highly.
Race 2. (12:40) National Make Good Solutions (Bm84) 2412m
1 Ziryab (Bet Now: $SP.00) looks the winner if he has petrol left in the tank. He comes through the Warrnanbool Cup when near the speed throughout and he tried his guts out but just couldn’t quite get there when third to Smokin Romans. Gets in really well after the claim, rates highly.
6 Fernao (Bet Now: $SP.00) is hard fit and racing well for the Archibald camp. Strong winner two back over 2100m at Sandown before going to 2500m at Flemington on Anzac Day where he had the suck run in behind and presented to win but couldn’t quite get there when a narrow second to a handy animal, Affluential.
2 Golden Crusader (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a few weeks between runs since racing over 2000m at Mornington when attempting to lead throughout and he tried hard but couldn’t quite see it through when third to Immediacy. 2400m is the query but has a good racing style.
Race 3. (13:15) Manhari (Bm78) 2000m
4 Wonder Kid (Bet Now: $SP.00) should love getting to 2000m after making the Aussie debut three weeks ago over the mile at Bendigo. He was back to near last in the run and while he was never a winning threat, he did make up ground and was a definite pass mark. Better set up here, enormous upside, he takes beating.
10 Muktamil (Bet Now: $SP.00) is racing well for Busuttin/Young and has to be respected off the back of a placing at The Valley over 2040m a fortnight back. He lobbed into a nice spot just off the speed and presented to win when angling wider but just couldn’t quite see it through when a narrow third to Denmark. Consistent animal, should be around the mark and commands respect.
2 Port Philip (Bet Now: $SP.00) is capable with his best. First run for Ciaron Maher came over the mile at Mornington three weeks back. He got back to near last and while he was never a winning threat, I didn’t mind the way he finished his race off in defeat. Might want one more and a further rise in trip, but his best is good enough to threaten.
Race 4. (13:50) Assured Insurance Brokers (Bm70) 1400m
6 Madiyya (Bet Now: $SP.00) is hard to beat. Team Hayes trained filly that comes to town off the back of a maiden win at Sale where she got into a decent spot behind the speed before angling into clear air and away she went for a dominant win. Off that effort, confident she measures up.
4 Storm Season (Bet Now: $SP.00) is three weeks between runs for Price/Kent since racing in the Mornington Guineas where she landed outside the speed and she tried hard but couldn’t quite see it through, feeling the pinch late in the piece behind Movin Out. Back to 1400m and back in depth, she takes beating.
8 Rockin At Midnite (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a key threat. She ran at Flemington on Anzac Day where she was given a quiet ride I thought and was never really a factor despite having plenty to offer. Blinkers on and despite the gate, she’s around the mark.
Race 5. (14:25) Summit Concepts Merchandise (Bm78) 1400m
8 Sirius Statement (Bet Now: $SP.00) is one of the hardest to beat here. She is flying, having not raced for a few weeks since taking out a race at Mornington where she got better as the race went on. Only has to hold her form to take beating once again.
3 Lovazou (Bet Now: $SP.00) ran third at Flemington on Anzac Day when near the speed and she tried hard but just couldn’t quite see it through behind Pariah Pearl. Good racing style and overall, this isn’t a deep contest.
4 Pariah Pearl (Bet Now: $SP.00) commands respect for Busuttin/Young after an all the way win at Flemington on Anzac Day, leading throughout and credit to her, she was there to be beaten but she found under pressure to fend them off and win. Hard to knock the way she’s racing at present.
Race 6. (15:00) Gmh Fire & Safety Australia Hcp 1600m
1 Jenni’s Meadow (Bet Now: $SP.00) should appreciate getting to the mile after resuming over 1400m at Flemington on Anzac Day when off speed and kept finding the line with purpose in a good effort in defeat behind Pariah Pearl. Better set up here for her and she has a touch of quality about her.
11 Mary Eliza (Bet Now: $SP.00) should be better for the first up run, which came three weeks ago in the Mornington Guineas when off speed and kept chasing in a pretty solid return behind Movin Out. Fitter, drops in overall depth, in well after the claim, she appeals.
7 Lario (Bet Now: $SP.00) comes back to his own age for Danny O’Brien after resuming over 1400m on Good Friday at Echuca when near the speed and fought hard but just felt the pinch late behind Sacramental. Good upside to come, his best is good enough to win.
Race 7. (15:40) Ern Jensen Funerals - Pinder Family (Bm84) 1600m
11 Saban (Bet Now: $SP.00) should appreciate a rise to the mile after resuming over 1400m at Flemington on Anzac Day where he got too far back in the run but didn’t mind his finale in defeat behind King Zephyr, who looks a Group l horse, so that form reads well.
9 Ambassadorial (Bet Now: $SP.00) lands on speed and takes beating. He ran second at The Valley a fortnight back and he tried his guts out but just found one better in Waimare. Good racing style and do like him up to 1600m. One of the hardest to beat.
3 Chartres (Bet Now: $SP.00) is third up from a spell and should just about be at peak fitness. He ran two weeks back over 1500m at The Valley where he attempted to lead throughout and gave a solid kick but tired late in the piece behind El Rocko. Hard fit now, good racing style, his best is good enough to threaten.
Race 8. (16:15) Thoroughbred Club Of Australia (Bm100) 1400m
8 War Machine (Bet Now: $SP.00) looks the winner. Can make a case to say that with clear air, he wins the Hareeba first up but just got back and held up at times before eventually getting clear air and worked home hard, just missing out on the win. If the breaks go his way, he’s too good for these.
5 Lim’s Saltoro (Bet Now: $SP.00) is an absolute beauty for Dan Meagher that resumes after being a star in Singapore, being one of the best over there. He has jumped out quite well for the return and while 1400m is on the short side, he has class.
4 Jimmy The Bear (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a Team Payne trained gelding that resumes. He is first up, having not raced since the Sale Cup in the Spring when off speed and seemingly had his chance behind Pounding, just not quite finishing his race off. Looks to have trialled/jumped out well and first up at 1400m signals intent.
Race 9. (16:50) Wagstaff Group (Bm84) 1200m
10 Pivot City (Bet Now: $SP.00) for me in the get out. Price/Kent trained gelding that is four weeks between runs since racing at Bendigo where he got a sore back I thought and I think if he stays inside, he wins instead of a a close up third. Half decent steer and he wins.
12 Flying Mikki (Bet Now: $SP.00) looks here after racing a few weeks back at Mornington when off speed and held up at times but was good late without threatening behind Namesake. Better set up here, he can take this out.
2 Arentee (Bet Now: $SP.00) resumed two weeks back over this trip at The Valley. He lobbed outside the speed and he tried hard but first up, condition just gave way late in the piece behind impressive winner Elouyou. Fitter, firmer footing, his best form from QLD is good enough to threaten.
