Race 1. (12:20) Tab We're On (Bm70) 1600m
2 Flying Done (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is hard to beat after a Boxing Day win over this trip at Sandown, getting front end control and he gave nothing else a look in to win and win well. Good racing style, has that 1600m run/win under the belt, he appeals.
6 Our Chief (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a key threat after resuming over 1400m at Cranbourne two weeks ago when wide no cover throughout but he stayed on and was game in defeat behind stablemate Davida. Fitter and up in trip, hard to beat with better luck in running.
5 Falset Star (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) should love the rise to the mile after racing two weeks back at Cranbourne over 1400m. He got back in the run and was held up at times but loved the way he closed off behind Davida. He’s racing as if he’ll love the extra 200m and with clear air, will wind up hard.
Race 2. (12:50) Honouring Our Jockeys Plate (Bm78) 2000m
9 Sun Gift (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) commands respect for Danny O’Brien. Big win from her two weeks ago at Cranbourne given she did get held up at times but when clear, she attacked the line and really dug in when it counted to get the job done. She’s got good upside to come, home track, strong late…she’s hard to beat.
8 Trapalanda (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) ran second to Touchtown in the race mentioned above. He wasn’t suited at all by the race shape and tight track but he kept finding the line and was pretty good in defeat I thought. Hard fit, 2000m, big track, he’s in the mix.
3 New York Hurricane (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) should be better for the first up run, which came over the mile at Cranbourne two weeks back. He just found them a bit sharp but he stayed on and was pretty good in defeat behind Welcometotheshow. Fitter and up in trip, he runs well.
Race 3. (13:25) Jockey Celebration Sprint 1100m
10 Pacific Glamour (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) ran a close up third to Job Done a few weeks back at Caulfield Heath. She sat on speed throughout and tried her guts out but she just couldn’t quite get there when third, beaten under a length. Good racing style and will give a sight.
1 Esha (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a class filly for Nicholls/Black that resumes. She was touted as a Group l horse after her first up win in the early part of the Spring but was plain in the Moir, failed in the Scarborough and was spelled. Looks to have jumped out well, they’re starting again…she’s the winner if she’s ready to go, but just not sure she is.
6 Conscience (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is first up for Moody/Coleman and commands respect. She has had two runs, both at Sandown, winning on debut in the Autumn before resuming in the Winter in July and didn’t have the best of luck. Given a good break, jumped out well, light weight, she’s in the mix.
Race 4. (14:00) Off The Track Trophy (Bm78) 1800m
4 Miss Playlounge (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) has to be top seed here after her win two weeks ago at Cranbourne. She gave them a start and a beating, drawing clear late to win in impressive fashion. That was over the mile and off that effort, 1800m looks ideal and she is the one to beat in a similar race.
6 Real Alliance (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) has been up a little while for Luke Oliver but is racing really well at the moment. She ran third at Cranbourne a fortnight back, getting a fair way out of her ground but loved the way she closed off late in the piece behind Miss Playlounge. Should be able to get a drag into the race and be effective late.
8 Tarvue (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) was specked at odds when racing two weeks back at Cranbourne. She got off speed and worked into the race pretty well but just couldn’t quite get there when second to Miss Playlounge. Like the rise in trip for her, she’s in the mix.
Race 5. (14:35) National Jockeys Trust Trophy (Bm70) 1600m
12 Watersports (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is in a purple patch for Archie Alexander and she can certainly go on with it. Knuckled down with purpose to win two weeks ago at Cranbourne, finishing best from near the speed in a sharp effort. She can certainly go on with it.
4 Otago (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) does appear to be a key threat here. Total forgive at Cranbourne last start when wide no cover for the trip and the hard run just told on her late in the piece behind Welcometotheshow. Can press forward, depth not as deep, rates highly.
2 Typhoon Harmony (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) finished down the track behind Watersports at Cranbourne but I felt had excuses given he was back near last in a race dominated on speed and was never really a factor. More kind map this time around, not dismissing him.
Race 6. (15:15) Jockey Assistance Program Sprint (Bm70) 1000m
6 Castellar (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a handy galloper that resumes. Hit and miss throughout his ten start career but he does have an engine under the hood. He hasn’t raced since March 12 when down the track at Sandown behind a handy horse, Codigo. Looks to have jumped out well, watch betting.
14 Chergui (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) commands respect for Team Hayes. He ran two weeks ago at Cranbourne when attempting to lead throughout and he gave a strong kick but had no answers late for Steel Move. That was 1200m and I do think back to 1000m is a big tick.
11 Mr Magnus (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) has run well down the straight before and this isn’t a deep contest. He ran over 1000m at Sandown on Boxing Day when off speed and chased well enough but was never really threatening behind Runlikenencryption. If within range, he’s dangerous.
Race 7. (15:55) Henry Byron Moore (Bm84) 1600m
11 Teardrop Rotation (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a very interesting mare. Chris Bieg trains and she is 2/2 this time in, the latest being three weeks back at Murray Bridge where the race shape was against her but loved the way she knuckled down late to score. Keen to see how she goes.
12 Knobelas (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is one of the key threats. She is three weeks between runs since a second at Caulfield Heath, driving hard late but just missed out on the win when second to Roadcone. Bigger track and 1600m suits, she is hard to beat, potentially with an eye towards New Zealand.
3 Roadcone (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a slight query at 1600m at this level but does have a good racing style. He was there to be beaten at Caulfield Heath three weeks ago but he found under pressure to fend them off and score a determined victory. He likely lands on speed and with a soft trip, he’s dangerous.
Race 8. (16:35) Standish Hcp 1200m
3 Aviatress (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) comes through the Christmas Stakes on Boxing Day at Sandown. She lumped topweight and tried hard but just couldn’t quite get there when third to impressive winner Hedged. Very genuine mare who should be around the mark against these.
6 Disneck (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a Bjorn Baker trained gelding that resumes, having not raced since Champions Day when down the track here behind Need Some Luck. Quiet trial at Hawkesbury to prepare, he’s got a dynamic turn of foot, and ridden cold, with cover, he’ll explode late.
9 Major Share (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) has run well down the straight before and comes here after a fourth on Boxing Day in the Christmas Stakes. He landed on speed and tried as hard as ever but just lacked the class and quality to finish the job. Not sure he wins but is a must for exotics.
Race 9. (17:15) Victorian Jockeys Association Trophy (Bm74) 1200m
I reckon 7 Ikasara (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is worth a throw at the stumps each way. He has been freshened up since Nov 26 at Geelong when leading and tiring late behind Dirty Grin. Freshened up with a couple of strong jumpouts under the belt, I think he’ll run a beauty.
3 Mytemptation (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is knocking on the door. He ran three weeks ago at Caulfield Heath when off speed and tried hard but in an on speed dominated race, he couldn’t quite get there when third to Celsius Star. Gets in well after the claim and strikes a winnable race.
9 Three Rings (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) has found winning form and he can go on with it for Cody Reardon. Got into a sweet spot in transit four weeks ago at Gawler and in a driving go, finished best to score. That was his first run since July so with good room for improvement, he’ll take beating.
Race 10. (17:55) George Watson (Bm74) 1400m
1 Kahhof (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is knocking on the door to win. He tried hard at Sandown on Boxing Day but just found Stealth Of Night a touch too good on the day, with a gap to third. This looks well within reach for him provided he gets a decent enough run in transit.
3 Fear No Evil (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) has been given a four week freshen up since racing over the mile at Randwick, attempting to lead throughout and tried hard but 1600m at this level was a bridge too far. Back to 1400m with fresh legs, sharp jumpout here, he’s a key threat.
7 Little Cointreau (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) should be better for the first up run, which came over 1200m at Caulfield Heath. He was one of the first off the bit and looked gone but he ran through the pain barrier and actually kept finding the line. Good upside to come, he’s in the mix.
