Race 1. (14:40) Jacquinot First Yearlings 2026 @ Widden Plate 1200m
7 Rhetoric (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) on top in the opener but it’s not really a race I want to get involved in. Son of Harry Angel for Michael Freedman that has had a couple of trials this time in to get ready for start one and each time has looked pretty good. Maps to get a sweet sit in transit and be effective at the end. Hard to beat.
2 Zoysia (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a very interesting runner. Chris Waller trained galloper that returns to racing as a gelding. He hasn’t raced since Sep 18 2024 over 1100m here when down the track behind Amelita. He has had extensive trial work to get ready for the return, he’s a clear yard and market watch.
9 Royal Corporal (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a son of Graff that resumes for Terry Croft. He hasn’t raced since Aug 30 over 1400m when off speed and kept chasing with purpose in a pretty good effort in defeat behind Autumn Blonde. Looks to have trialled well, watch betting.
Race 2. (15:20) Ranvet Plate 1900m
10 Kumbaya (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is the way I am leaning. She steps up to 1900m after racing over the mile at Hawkesbury where she got off speed and closed with real purpose late when second to Viewpoint. Like the rise in trip for her and becomes very hard to beat if the inside gate can be used to advantage.
11 Royal Princess (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) has had a couple of runs at the mile and should appreciate getting to 1900m. Latest run was at Hawkesbury where she was near the speed and tried hard but was a bit on the one paced side late behind Agent Zero when third. Trip is fine, maps well, she seems a big price.
1 Galway Flyer (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) steps up to 1900m after a few weeks break, the latest run coming over 1400m at Kembla. He just found them a bit sharp but I thought he was far from disgraced in defeat. Tick over trial was solid enough and maps to do no work, plus gets the claim.
Race 3. (16:00) Hyland Race Colours Plate 1200m
11 Royal Silver (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) looks an absolute monster price here IMO. Terry Croft trained daughter of D’Argento that debuts off the back of trial work which has really impressed me, especially the latest trial at Hawkesbury. It was a morning where some horses seemed to struggle but she handled it perfectly when leading and had plenty in the locker. I think she’s worth a peanut each way to see what is under the hood.
1 Artgirl (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is bursting to win a maiden…why they keep persisting with Canterbury with her when she is clearly crying out for a big track, I have no idea. Latest run at this track/distance, she jumped well but dragged back to find cover and was never a threat but did like the way she closed off. She’s got an engine under the hood and is a clear threat.
16 In Limbo (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a Ryan/Alexiou trained filly that resumes. She hasn’t raced since July 10 over 1100m at Gosford when too bad to be true behind Nazwah. Given a good break and a recent Rosehill trial was quite good, so watch betting.
Race 4. (16:40) Asahi Super Dry Handicap 1100m
10 Lull (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) gets the nod in an open race. Ciaron Maher trained filly that resumed over 1000m at Kembla when wide no cover, worked in the run and tired late behind Big Red Tequila, who ran well at Randwick last week, so the form reads super and maps much better this time around.
9 Vanlee (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a Joe Pride trained mare that resumes. This girl is first up, having not raced since Aug 12 when down the track over 1100m at Hawkesbury behind a talented animal, Valilee. Looks to have trialled well for the return and has a kind map.
3 Divo (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) comes back to 1100m after racing over 1200m in the Magic Millions at Wyong. He attempted to lead throughout and gave a decent kick from the front but just felt the pinch late in the piece. Better suited here, he’s an improver.
Race 5. (17:20) The Agency Real Estate Handicap 1550m
8 Michaelangelo (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a nice horse for Chris Waller that comes to town off the back of a first up maiden win at Wyong where he really had no right to win given the tight track and how much time he needs to wind up but he surged hard late to get there. He’s progressive, heading in the right direction…hard to beat if the track is playing fair.
9 Monopolistic (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is 1/1 to start his career, his debut win coming a few weeks ago at Beaumont Newcastle when giving them a start and a beating, getting better as the race went on. Tick over trial last week was quite good and maps to get a sweet trip in transit.
5 Cantarito (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) steps up to 1550m after resuming over 1400m at Canberra where she just found them a bit sharp when off speed and whacked to the line. Better for the run…not sure she wins but she can run first four at odds.
Race 6. (18:00) First Hitotsu Yearlings Handicap 1250m
6 Oakfield Duke (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) seems a massive price here. He resumed over 1150m at Beaumont Newcastle where he got back off speed but rocketed to the line when second to King Charles. He maps to stalk Cassiel and I am convinced that with clear air, he’ll be stronger than that horse late.
5 Cassiel (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) steps up to 1250m after racing over 1100m here last time where he led and I thought had his chance in front but was quite weak late. How he is as short as he is, not sure, but perhaps a weak field with front end control, he could take catching.
1 Hellfire Express (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a Nathan Doyle trained gelding that resumes. He is first up, having not raced since July 12 over the mile at Randwick when producing an end of prep run, finishing down the track behind Oh Diamond Lil, a subsequent Stakes winner. That form clearly reads well and the trial work has been quite strong.
Race 7. (18:30) Canterbury Sprint 1200m
13 King’s Secret (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is flying for Joe Pride and has to be given serious respect after a win two weeks ago at Randwick, getting the suck run in behind before angling clear and he made a mess of them late, getting better as the race went on. He has to be top seed against these.
1 The Instructor (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a GaiBott trained galloper that resumes. He has been given a good break, his latest run seeing him finish sixth in the Stradbroke. He has the class/quality on his side and his trial work suggests here he is here to play. Watch betting.
5 Barber (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is several weeks between runs since racing in the Razor Sharp at Randwick when off speed and kept chasing in a pretty good effort in defeat. Maps to stalk the speed and be effective late. He’s a chance.
Race 8. (19:00) Tab Handicap 1900m
10 Lunar Lover (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) for me in the get out. Matty Smith trained gelding that comes here third up, his last run coming over the mile at Warwick Farm when off speed and worked home well enough but was a bit one paced. Like the rise in trip for him, maps to get a sweet sit and be effective late.
5 Kingdom Of Logres (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) ran seventh in the same race that Lunar Lover contested at Warwick Farm, his first run since April 2024, and I thought he didn’t disgrace himself in defeat. Had trialled well leading in as well so with enormous upside, up in trip, I think he’s a threat.
20 De Louviere (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) has returned well and should appreciate a rise to 1900m. Both runs back have come over the mile, winning fresh at Canberra before a solid third to stablemate Dark Vador. Hard to beat up in distance.
