Race 1. (14:40) Ranvet Mdn Plate 1900m
2 Sounds Unusual (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) should be taking care of these in the opener. He has been excellent in two career outings, placing each time. Latest came over this track/distance when back in a slowly run race and just couldn’t reel in stablemate, and all the way winner, Great White Shark. Maps to settle much closer, hard fit now…good luck beating him I say.
11 The Beast (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is knocking on the door to break the maiden tag. He ran over the mile at Hawkesbury last time out when near the speed and kept chasing but had no answers late for Hovland, who was impressive and by jump time, you’ll know how strong the form is given that horse goes around at Wyong on Tuesday.
4 Ana Carolina (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) should improve with a rise in distance for O’Shea/Charlton. She resumed over the mile at Hawkesbury when doing early work to land on speed and the early burn just told on her late in the piece behind War Star. Maps to get a much better run in transit and can run a much improved race.
Race 2. (15:20) Hawaii Five Oh @ Vinery Stud Mdn Plate 1200m
12 Xingxing (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) brings the right form around him to give this a shake. He debuted at Newcastle back in August and bumped into Spirit Of Wealth, who has the potential to be Group class, so that form reads very well for a race like this and really liked the way he moved in a recent trial. Hard to beat if he can overcome the draw.
9 Maori Chief (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) has the talent under the hood but I will say he’s nearing D-Day. Resumed as a gelding here and just didn’t look 100% ready in the yard, running accordingly when down the track behind Tulleries, who I think will take a power of beating in the Magic Millions Guineas, so that form clearly reads well for this. Leading contender.
2 Cold Brew (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) commands respect. Market wanted him with confidence when debuting at Beaumont Newcastle when on speed and he tried hard but couldn’t quite get there when second to LoughEske. Better for the run under the belt, good racing style, hard to beat.
Race 3. (16:00) Buy An Arrowfield Yearling Mdn Plate 1200m
12 Scintilla (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) looks one of the better gambles on the card I say. Les Bridge trained filly that had two runs in the Winter to start her career, each run on heavy ground and she didn’t seem 100% happy in the conditions. Given a good break and her trials…my goodness they have been great. If she can overcome the gate, I think her finale may well be too much for them.
11 Rach (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a really well bred filly for Chris Waller that is on debut. She is by Written Tycoon out of the former very good mare I Am Serious. She has looked great in trial work in readiness for the debut, the latest seeing her lead throughout and won well. Keen to see how she goes.
6 Jayashree (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a Team Hawkes trained filly that resumes. She had a two run prep in the early part of the Spring to start her career, the latest seeing her finish down the track at Warwick Farm behind subsequent Group l winner El Castello. Looked sharp in a trial at Rosehill and maps ideally.
Race 4. (16:40) The Agency Real Estate (Bm72) 1250m
3 Lancaster Bomber (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) tends to save his best for this track/distance and has the right form around him to say he’s hard to beat here. He attempted to lead throughout here last time out and beaten the vast majority of the field comfortably, but bumped into Winston Hills, who does look well above average. Brings that form here, he will be hard to beat.
4 Lady Extreme (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) will land on speed and take running down. She was near the front in the Midway at Randwick last time and tried hard but had no answers late for above average filly Zoubaby. Good record at the track and strikes a winnable race.
2 Noble Soldier (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a few weeks between runs for Team Price since racing at Rosehill when off a very slow speed and just couldn’t get involved behind all the way winner Midnight Opal. More genuine tempo here, his best is good enough.
Race 5. (17:20) Tab (Bm64) 1550m
4 Luskaire (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) looks the likely leader and if he gets front end control, he takes running down I say. His last couple of runs have come at Newcastle, leading throughout and spanking them two back before going to the mile when leading and giving a strong sight but just couldn’t quite see it through. Looks the leader here and if he gets a cheap time of it, he takes running down.
7 Valetudo (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is third up from a spell and should just about be at peak fitness. Last run came over 1400m on the Kenso when off the slow speed and kept chasing in a pretty good effort in defeat behind a nice horse, Candlewick. Hard fit now and with a more positive steer, she’s good enough to win.
5 Doradus (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) comes to town for Anthony Cummings off the back of a maiden win at Newcastle where he gave them a start and a beating, getting better as the race went on to win. Harder here, but maps to do no work and could pinch a first four spot.
Race 6. (18:00) Asahi Super Dry (Bm64) 1900m
4 War Star (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) will land on speed and run a bold race, which was the case at Warwick Farm last time, attempting to lead throughout and gave a strong kick but just couldn’t quite see it through. If he gets front end control, up in trip, he takes running down.
6 Smart Legend (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is knocking on the door for Les Bridge. He ran over the mile at Warwick Farm last start in the race mentioned above. He had a suck run in transit and tried hard but just couldn’t quite get there and felt the pinch late in the piece. Racing like a rise in distance suits and strikes a winnable race.
16 Waverley (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) has finally got a win on the board…can he go on with it? The win came in a moderate race at Canberra. He got a very cheap time of it on speed and when asked for the effort, the kick in the locker was there and he had enough in hand to score. Harder here but off a win, he has to be respected.
Race 7. (18:30) Canterbury Sprint 1200m
11 Dollar Magic (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) rises in grade/depth, but she is a very genuine mare for Scott Singleton and the stable is humming at present. Latest run was on Dec 7 at Rosehill on testing ground where she booted clear and was hailed as the winner, but just found one better in Fire Star. Freshened up and her recent tick over trial was very good. Keen to see how she goes at this level because it’s not a strong Stakes race.
5 Pereille… (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) bloody Pereille. Gee he has been a nightmare for me in his career. He was plain, not helped by an ordinary steer, in the Starlight first up. He then went to the Razor Sharp and was hailed as the winner when he dashed but Jedibeel got the splits, dashed and was too good for them. Knocking on the door and commands respect.
1 Brudenell (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is third up from a spell and should just about be at peak fitness. He comes through the Razor Sharp at Randwick where he did work to land on speed and that early burn just told on him late in the piece behind Jedibeel. He was plain in this race last year but is a previous track/distance winner, so don’t dismiss him.
Race 8. (19:00) Palace Pier First Yearlings (Bm64) 1100m
11 Unleeshing (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is racing like she will eat up a fast run 1100m. She ran a few weeks ago over 1200m at Rosehill when off speed and kept chasing but couldn’t quite get there when second to the unbeaten three year old Private Harry. Fast run 1100m should be ideal and with a positive ride, she’ll take holding out.
12 Luxe Eternal (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a well bred daughter of I Am Invincible that resumes for Chris Waller. She hasn’t raced since an electric debut win at Hawkesbury where she gave them a start and a beating, knuckling down with purpose late to win and win well. Liked the way she has trialled leading in and while she will spot them a start, she’ll be strong at the end.
1 Opal Fields (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a definite winning chance. This mare comes to town off the back of a win over this trip at Hawkesbury where she gave them a start and a beating, launching late from off the speed to score. Her confidence is up and she strikes a winnable race here.
