Race 1. (14:13) Great Northern Brewing Co. Mdn Plate 1000m
Bit of guessing here in the opener but Mark Currie has a couple accepted and with gate one, 5 Ten Trinity Square (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is the way I am leaning. I Am Invincible gelding that is on debut off the back of no public trials/jumpouts, but the stable are good when it comes to first up/debut runners and with home track advantage, he is on top.
3 Snaktebite (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is the stablemate that is also on debut. Difference is this guy has been seen at the trials for the debut, trialling in July without a run. Spelled, come back, and didn’t trial too bad a few weeks ago. Market will be the guide but on debut on the home deck, big day, he commands respect.
7 Mister (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is in with a shout for Pat Webster. He debuted at Goondiwindi over 1000m where he got back off the speed and kept chasing in a solid debut, finishing third to Mr Gorman. Tongue tie on first time and better for the run under the belt, he’s in with a shout at a decent price.
Race 2. (14:48) Tab - We're On Mdn Hcp 1300m
6 Tango Spirit (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) looks a great bet here for Billy Healey. Just missed out on the win fresh here before going to Doomben where he got too far back in the run but really liked the way he found the line late in the piece behind Smart Recognition. Hard fit now and up to 1300m, if he’s within range on the turn, I think he’ll have the finale to run them down.
4 Ashmolean (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) has had a few chances to break the maiden tag but that said, he is racing well and isn’t far away from a win. Her last three runs have come here, the latest being just over two weeks ago over 1200m here when getting a suck run and seemingly had every chance but couldn’t quite finish it off when second. Maps perfect and with J Orman aboard, she is clearly likeable.
1 Blueprint (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a key threat. He ran third in the maiden mentioned above where Ashmolean ran second. He got a fair way out of his ground and did make up good ground late in the piece, beaten just over a half length. Like him up in trip and I think if he can settle closer in the run, he’ll be dangerous at the end.
Race 3. (15:28) Neil Mansell Concrete Hcp (C2) 1300m
3 Irish Sally (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) has a great record at the track and off the first up effort, she is the way I am leaning. She resumed at this track/distance where she got back off the speed and was spotting those in front a tidy start but picked up and was pretty good late in the piece when second to Sigourney. If the inside gate can be used to advantage, she’ll take holding out.
1 Ironside (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a son of Al Maher for Josh King that resumes. This guy is first up, having not raced since August 5 when placing over the mile here, working home quite well. Resumes without a public trial but first up on the home deck, you’d like to think he’s ready to go. Watch the market and see what it does.
7 Zou Zouamore (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) isn’t a horse I could back to win but for wider exotics, she can be entertained. He ran in the Sigourney race mentioned above where she got off the speed and kept finding the line without threatening, running fifth. If they go silly in front, look for her to be strong at the end.
Race 4. (16:08) Livewired Electrical (Bm65) 1625m
Keen on 7 Tuhinga (Bet Now:Β $SP.00). He has done recent racing in town and has been strong. Two back he was a narrow fourth to Brave Maso before racing at Eagle Farm again last Saturday where he was good from near last behind Koruto. He saves his best for Toowoomba and if the inside gate can be used to advantage, settle closer, good luck beating him.
10 Sigourney (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a Kevin Kemp trained mare that is absolutely flying this time in, looking to make it three wins on the bounce. Two starts/wins for the stable, both over 1300m here and is racing like a rise in trip will suit, plus gets an ideal map.
1 Captain Hook (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) can bounce back. He put together a couple of sharp wins over this track/distance before going to the Sunny Coast where he just found a bit sharp when down the track after leading. Back to Toowoomba, if he finds the front and gets some level of control, he’ll take running down.
Race 5. (16:48) Skuse Graham Criminal Lawyers (Bm65) 1100m
9 Tapis Magique (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is the way I am leaning but not a whole lot of confidence. This mare resumed at the midweeks at Eagle Farm where she was run off her legs early and was never a threat but she picked up and was okay late in the piece behind Caesaris. Better for the run under the belt, depth here is nowhere near as deep…she’ll do me as an on top selection.
3 Vonzither (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) commands respect for Team Geran. He was a strong winner of a Provincial Series Heat three back before a prep leading into the Final at Eagle Farm where he bumped into a nice horse, Willinga Freefall. He returns to a track he likes, he’ll press forward and gets J Orman so he has a bit in his corner.
2 Bonnie Ev (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) has versatility re racing pattern and comes here off a win. That came at Chinchilla where she spanked them and ran reasonable time. Recent TAB meeting runs, she has got back, and with good speed here, I think that will give her every chance to launch at them late.
Race 6. (17:28) King Of The Mountain 1200m
2 All That Pizzazz (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is the bet for me in what looks a clear two horse race. This guy resumed with a bang, giving them a start and a beating to win the Bribie at Eagle Farm over 1000m. He won the Weetwood at the track/distance and with good speed in front, I can see him sitting off it and being very strong at the end.
1 Rothfire (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is the class of the field and that class will carry him a long way towards victory. He resumed a few weeks ago in the George Moore where he lumped 61kg. He was near the speed throughout and presented to win in the straight but couldn’t quite finish it off with the big weight when a narrow second to Zoustyle. Better for the run under the belt, he’ll take beating.
12 Salt Lake Betty (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is eligible for much easier but she is a filly heading in the right direction. Arrogant maiden winner two back before going to a Class 1 where she was on speed and tried her guts out but couldn’t quite get the win. Maps perfect, right down in the weights, she’ll be forward of midfield…first four contender for sure.
Race 7. (18:10) King Of The Mountain Consolation 1200m
2 Don’t Stop (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) brings the A1 form and commands respect. He resumed in the Recognition at Doomben and was far from disgraced in defeat from just off the speed when third to all the way winner Zarastro. He saves his best for this track/distance, he gets J Orman and maps perfect. He looks the good thing on the program for mine.
3 Montenegro Man (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a key threat for me. First run for Pat Webster came over 1200m at the Sunny Coast where he got back to near last in the run and spotted those in front a tidy start but I loved the way he found the line late in the piece behind Rising when a narrow second. Good speed in front here, he’ll sit off it and launch over the top.
14 Cracker Essgee (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is third up from a spell and should just about be at peak fitness. This gelding just needed the run fresh on the Gold Coast Poly before going to Ipswich where they rode with more intent and was good in defeat when a narrow second to Heroic Miss. Not sure he wins but ideal map, he can pinch a first four spot.
Race 8. (18:40) Mnp Security Hcp (58) 1625m
7 Await The Storm (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) for me in the get out. Lindsay Hatch trained gelding that has won his past two, leading throughout to win two back at Goondiwindi before going to Chinchilla when a strong winner over 1400m. The query is 1600m but he has a good racing style, he’s in form and gets in pretty well after the claim.
4 Midnight Gun (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is third up from a spell and should just about be at peak fitness. Just needed the run fresh at Warwick before racing here where he didn’t really fire and was plain in the straight behind Sigourney. Blinkers come off, he gets J Orman and a perfect map. His best is clearly good enough to take this out.
6 Decarbonise (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) should appreciate a rise in trip. He resumed over 1500m at Murwillumbah where he paraded like he would need the run and that’s how it panned out, finishing down the track behind Boston of Tuffy. He’ll be better for the run under the belt and this isn’t a strong race so he doesn’t need to be anything special to measure up.
