Popular sprinter Rey Magnerio is set to race in the $1.5 million Gold Rush at Ascot on December 13th, with trainer Robbie Griffiths opting to pay a late entry fee for the in-form speedster.
Grifiths confirmed the news to racing commentator Matt Nevett on Monday morning.

“He pulled up great, he’s just doing some beach recovery this morning having a cool down session”. Griffiths told RSN’s Correct Weight with Trav and Nick Noonan on Sunday morning.
“He was fantastic, we are very proud of him and Willie Pike thought he went super, he was of the opinion if there was more speed that he could’ve won.”
Jokers Grin, Rope Them In and Benedetta are all expected to run in The Gold Rush after running in Saturday’s Winterbottom Stakes. Whilst leading WA galloper Western Empire could back up into the race after Saturday’s Northerly Stakes.

One of the race favourites Overpass is deemed an unlikely starter with connections expected to take him back home to Sydney ahead of another Autumn campaign.
