Australian Turf Club will remain the name for Sydney’s merged racing entity.
The Australian Turf Club (ATC) issued a statement on Thursday saying it was retaining the name it has used as a working title since the merger between the Australian Jockey Club and Sydney Turf Club in February.
Sydney Jockey Club and Sydney Racing were considered as alternative titles but ATC chairman John Cornish said the board was unanimous in keeping the launch name after strategic brand research was conducted.
“Whilst the research program uncovered some mixed sentiment toward the name, the overall findings presented a strong majority in favour of retaining the name Australian Turf Club as our name for the future,” Cornish said.
