The Cox Plate people should contact super British trainer John Gosden immediately and try to get his horse MISHRIFF (Make Believe – Contradict) down here for the Gr 1 Cox Plate over 2040m.
Because he is a superstar.
Last night he toyed with a field full of Gr 1 winners in England’s biggest WFA race the Gr 1 Juddmonte International Stakes over 2000m at York.
He broke 2mins and just raced away to win by 6 lengths.
Ridden by David Egan he sat just behind the pace in 4th to the bend, moved out into clear air with 400m to go and simply out-sprinted them to the wire.
Said his famed trainer Gosden, “well at a mile and quarter he’s brilliant horse. He’s a fabulous horse. He has done nothing but improve and we’ve seen the finished article today.
“This is the race we’ve always wanted to win with him to make him a stallion for Europe.”
He’s had 13 races now for 7 wins, earning $11million pounds beating ALENQUER ridden by Tom Marquand and the boom mare LOVE with Ryan Moore on top back in 3rd.
But, Gosden at the moment hasn’t got the Cox Plate in his sights.
“I’d look at the Arc or Champions Stakes, then maybe the Breeders Cup with him.”
Mishriff has won Gr 1 races now in England, France, Saudi Arabia and Dubai.
The race was first run in 1972. The race has been won by superstars such as Frankel who did it just as easily in 2012.
