Roger Varian has sidestepped Thursday’s Tercentenary Stakes at Ascot to wait for the King Edward VII Stakes on Friday with his exciting prospect Mijhaar.
Second at his only start at two, he turned a decent Haydock maiden into a procession as he strolled home seven lengths clear last month.
The form could not have worked out any better with the runner-up and third both winning their next races by five lengths each.
“We might run him in the King Edward on Friday,” Varian said.
“They are saying there’s a good amount of rain coming in on Friday, so we’ll declare the horse and when we get there we’ll have a look at the ground.
“If it’s too fast for him, we’ll save him for another day.”
