Race 1 1200m Class 4 60-40
(7) Fortune General looks well placed to break his maiden status here from an ideal alley. He has been caught wide at his past couple and theres no champions in the opening event of the program. (3) Master Rio is the improver with Prebble up, he will enjoy getting back to the Valley and he too has a nice draw.
(7) Fortune General
(3) Master Rio
(2) Caga Spirit
(10) Potential
Race 2 1650m Class 4 60-40
Like one down the bottom here who should be a price in (11) Yuan’s Fortune who rattled home from the rear last start over the shorter trip. He’s up in trip to the mile tonight and looks mighty hard to hold out with no weight. (1) Champagne Days has been running extremely well on the Sha Tin circuit and can figure in the finish again from gate one tonight.
(11) Yuan’s Fortune
(1) Champagne Days
(8) Compact Yarn
(9) Supreme Tycoon
Race 3 1650m Class 3 80-60
Very tough affair here where every runner can win. (5) Wrath of Fire is yet to win here in Hong Kong yet but ran behind some top class horses in New Zealand before he came over. He gets some weight relief tonight as he makes his Happy Valley debut. (9) Jimson The Best is bursting to win and can take up the running tonight which should give him every chance.
(5) Wrath Of Fire
(9) Jimson The Best
(2) Bouncer
(3) Royal Pumpkin
Race 4 1800m Class 5 40-00
Ordinary race but (1) Healthy Manner looks the clear top pick with Darren Beadman on board. He thrives racing on the pace here at the Valley and it’s hard to see him being beaten. (9) Master Dragon is a top roughie if there is an upset, he should stalk the lead and be the one breathing down the favourites neck as they swing for home.
(1) Healthy Manner
(9) Master Dragon
(4) Winning Pal
(7) Wadasuprise
Race 5 1200m Class 4 60-40
Excellent value here with (2) Shanghai Pioneer who is likely to go off at 20-1+. He’s been dropped back in distance and will get back in the run but he has a touch of class and if anywhere near his best he can sail down the middle and win easily. (5) Surfer Boy is the logical danger with the blinkers on. He is drawn ideally and looks hard to go past.
(2) Shanghai Pioneer *
(5) Surfer Boy
(4) Amazing Sky
(8) Track Lightning
Race 6 1650m Class 4 60-40
(8) Romancing Tamar flies here at the Valley and has been in strong form on the Sha Tin circuit. He should box seat or at worse 3-back-the-fence and prove mighty hard to beat. (3) Blade Force is yet to win over the Valley mile but theres no doubt he will stroll to the front and give himself every chance.
(8) Romancing Tamar
(3) Blade Force
(11) Victoria Smile
(1) Viva Guy
Race 7 1650m Class 3 80-60
(8) Happy Guys looks close to a good thing tonight with the important gear change of the blinkers going on. He didnt run out the 1800 as well as expected last start and will be much sharper over the mile tonight. He’s drawn ideally and looks the one. (4) Joyful Winner II was impressive last start and can continue improving. A win doesnt look far away.
(8) Happy Guys **
(4) Joyful Winner II
(9) Nordic Star
(5) Best Friend
Race 8 1200m Class 3 80-60
(2) Topping Light is as consistent as they come and is clearly a 1200m horse after being tested over the mile in recent times. He didnt have the same dash over the mile but from the gun draw and lesser trip tonight, he is sure to run well. (6) Fresh Air is likely to go forward and is definately worth a ticket at each way odds. Bit of a watch on ex Aussie (7) Shining Triumph who won his only start in Australia under the eye of Robert Smerdon when he raced as Prince Manvendra.
(2) Topping Light
(6) Fresh Air
(7) Shining Triumph
(9) Able Charm
