31/7/2021 Horse Racing Tips and Best Bets – Goodwood, Langtry Stakes day

Glorious Goodwood for 2021 wraps up on Saturday night, where the feature race is the Langtry Stakes (3080m).

6 Spirit Of Bemuda (Bet Now: $SP.00) is heading in the right direction for William Haggas and I think she can make it three on the bounce. Bit of ticker shown in her win three weeks ago at Newmarket when really digging in when required to get the job done. Happy to be in her corner here.

8 Master Zoffany (Bet Now: $6.00) wants a genuine tempo to chase, like he got when winning last time out. He spotted them a decent start but due to the good tempo, he got his chance to finish over the top and that he did. Harder here but confident he can measure up.

5 Run To Freedom (Bet Now: $6.00) is bred to be a good one. Just hasn’t quite produced it on race day but there has been glimpses to suggest he’s heading in the right direction. Wasn’t too bad in defeat at Sandown last time out after a slow start. Clean jump, he’s in the mix.

1 First Folio (Bet Now: $5.50) has been a revelation since arriving from France and I think he can win again. 2/3 this time, the last start seeing him win impressively at York in a race similar to this. I think he has more to come and in a competitive race on paper. He is the safe option.

9 Royal Scimitar (Bet Now: $7.50) looked quite a progressive juvenile last season but his form had tapered right off. That changed last time out with a good effort in a strong race at Newmarket. If he improves off that, or at least just holds that form, he’s a leading contender.

12 Boundless Power (Bet Now: $12.00) should be suited up in trip. Solid win two back at Nottingham before going to a decent handicap at Ascot where he didn’t disgrace himself at all when fifth. I think a rise to 1200m will suit and he has to be considered against these.

5 My Frankel (Bet Now: $7.00) should eat up the extra ground. Sir Michael Stoute trained son of Frankel that ran over 2400m at Haydock last time out and worked home strongly from near last to finish third. Gets Ryan Moore to steer and with the added journey, he will take beating.

6 Aaddeey (Bet Now: $5.50) is a key threat. Game effort at Royal Ascot before coming back in trip at York where it looked like a prep run for this. Gets the rise in trip again and has strong form lines around him.

1 On To Victory (Bet Now: $12.00) is a beauty. He is a capable horse both on the flat and hurdles. Produced the goods to win a hurdle race before a freshen up and a good effort on the flat over 2400m. Fitter, up in trip, he appeals.

1 Wonderful Tonight (Bet Now: $1.61) is a star mare that should continue her winning ways. Group l success on Champions Day last year. Returned in the Hardwicke and was such an impressive winner. You’d think there is only improvement to come and up in trip, fitter, she’s the one, clearly.

2 Alblaflora (Bet Now: $7.00) can run a much improved race. To the eye, she was a bit plain in the Hardwicke, but was fresh and back in trip, so back up in distance, against her own sex, she can bounce back.

8 Tribal Craft (Bet Now: $15.00) has the Andrew Balding polish and commands respect. Two back was too good in the Bronte Cup at York before going to the Lancashire Oaks where she was far from disgraced in defeat. Progressive mare that should handle the rise in trip and is a knockout chance at odds.

Playing a straight bat with 15 Fresh (Bet Now: $6.00). Since the tongue tie has been applied, she has been a much better horse. Last start came in the Wokingham at Royal Ascot when just beaten in a tight finish, so she’s got the right form around her to give this a shake I’d suggest.

13 Hurricane Ivor (Bet Now: $7.00) has really thrived since a stable switch. Shared the spoils when a dead heat winner at Sandown two back. Then went to Ascot three weeks ago and closed off strongly when placing. Think he only has to hold his form to be around the mark.

16 Chiefofchiefs (Bet Now: $17.00) comes here with fresh legs for Charlie Fellowes, six weeks between runs since contesting the Wokingham when fourth, Fresh running second, so the form reads well and this guy is a horse that does race well on the fresh side. Leading contender.

10 Khanjar (Bet Now: $3.25) looks the best outside Wonderful Tonight for the meeting. Kodiac colt that debuted at Ascot. Didn’t have the best of luck in the straight but got clear and worked home well late. He should improve significantly off that and prove hard to beat against these.

7 Flying Secret (Bet Now: $3.25) is the key threat given he ran second in the same race mentioned above. He was on debut in that race and stuck to the task really well when second, with first and third having race experience, so that does bode well for him leading into this.

6 Devasboy (Bet Now: $8.00) is a watch horse. On debut here and is expected to go well given he is closely related to a number of nice horses, and did cost a bit as a yearling, so the expectation is that he will run well, so watch the market with him.

10 Overwrite (Bet Now: $9.50) at odds in the get out for me. This guy is a few weeks between runs since racing over this trip and finding the line pretty well in defeat I thought in what looked a tidy race on paper. Has run well at the track/distance previously and will do me each way.

8 Turntable (Bet Now: $9.00) is five weeks between runs since racing over the mile at Newmarket when placing in what looked a tidy race. Hasn’t really put a foot wrong this time in so he commands respect in a race like this.

11 Hundred Isles (Bet Now: $13.00) should put himself near the speed and give his all. He ran over the mile at Newmarket last time out where he stayed on and stuck to the task pretty gamely. Not sure I could back him to win but for exotics, I can certainly entertain him.
