Nine races have been set down for Happy Valley on Wednesday night, with good depth across the program.

Race 1. (20:40) Dordogne Handicap (Class 5) 1200m
5 Ever Smart (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) on top but not really a race I want to get involved in. He ran over 1200m at Sha Tin just over three weeks ago. He got into a decent spot in behind the speed and kept finding the line in defeat when second to Circuit Victory. He has run well at the track/distance previously and this isn’t a deep contest.
3 Winning Heart (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is several weeks between runs since a track/distance win where he gave them a start and a beating, getting better as the race went on to win and win well. Confidence is up and despite the tricky gate, he commands respect.
1 Vigor Elleegant (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) drops to Class 5 after recent racing at Class 4, his latest run being April 30 at this track/distance when leading and tired late behind Loving Vibes. Back in Class, I think he can run an improved race at odds.
Race 2. (21:10) Dordogne Handicap (Class 5) 1200m
7 Hoss (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is the way I am leaning, but similar to the first, it’s not a race I want to get involved in. He ran over this track/distance on April 23 where he got back to near last in the run and while he was never a winning threat, you had to like the way he finished his race off in defeat behind Winning Heart. If he can get a drag into the race from the gate, he’ll be hard to hold out.
6 Ragnarr (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is racing like a rise to 1200m will suit. His recent racing has come over 1000m here where he has got back and made up headway without threatening. If he can settle closer and be within range, he’ll take holding out.
8 The Prime (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) hasn’t fired a shot in recent times but I do think getting back to 1200m is an interesting move given his recent runs have come over the mile where he has been on the plian side. Not sure he is a horse I could back to win but is one for exotics.
Race 3. (21:40) Loire Handicap (Class 4) 2200m
7 Management Folks (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) seems the straight bat play for David Hall. He thrives at this track/distance and is in form, winning impressively two back before a solid third three weeks ago after getting back off speed. He should get a good card into the race and be effective late.
1 Beauty Viva (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is unknown at 2200m but is giving every indication of appreciating it. He ran over 1800m at Sha Tin last start where he got a fair way out of his ground but liked the way he finished his race off in defeat. 2200m should be fine, his trial work since has been strong, one of the leading contenders.
4 Joyful Prosperity (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a two time winner at 2000m so 2200m, I think, should be okay. He ran over 1800m at Sha Tin last time out. He was back in the run and never really a factor when down the track behind Oriental Smoke. Back a fair way in depth, he appeals as a knockout hope.
Race 4. (22:10) Ciron Handicap (Class 4) 1200m
6 Island Buddy (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) for me. He ran three weeks ago at this track/distance when attempting to lead throughout and he gave a strong kick from the front but just couldn’t quite see it through, run down late when a close up fourth to Goko Win. I think with a bunny to chase, he’ll be more effective.
2 Genius Baby (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) comes back to Happy Valley after racing at Sha Tin last start. He got into a decent spot off the speed and while held, he was far from disgraced in defeat behind Call Me Glorious. Maps ideally and this isn’t a race with depth.
7 Country Dancer (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is dangerous. I am forgiving of his run two weeks back at this track/distance. He got a mile out of his ground and while he was never a winning threat, he did make up headway and was pretty good in defeat. Likely spots them a start again but can settle a touch closer and be effective late.
Race 5. (22:40) The Sauternes's Cup (Class 4) 1650m
2 Comet Splendido (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) each way for me. He resumed at this track/distance three weeks ago where he got a fair way out of his ground and while he was never a winning threat, he did make up ground and was pretty good in defeat behind Ivy League. Maps to settle much closer in the run and he’ll be strong late.
1 Prestige Good (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is knocking on the door. He ran over 1800m here a few weeks ago. He got off speed and kept chasing and while he did have his chance, he was game in defeat behind Harmony Galaxy. Back to the mile I like, he’s one of the leading contenders.
5 Sight Supreme (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a son of More Than Ready that resumes for John Size. He is first up, having not raced since Jan 26 at Sha Tin when racing over the mile on the dirt and was okay without really threatening behind Never Peter Out. Trial work has been strong, watch betting.
Race 6. (23:10) Ciron Handicap (Class 4) 1200m
4 My Day My Way (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) looks ready to win for Danny Shum. He ran over this track/distance three weeks ago and was one of the eg cstcgers of the meeting I thought, rocketing late from near last in the turn to run second to Goko Win. Tricky draw and will spot them a start again but should be quite strong at the end.
2 Young Arrow (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) comes here with fresh legs, having not raced since April 9 at this track/distance when far from disgraced after sitting off speed. Tick over trial was a good piece of work, he should be strong late and this race, overall, isn’t strong.
9 Noble Fans (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a son of All Too Hard that resumes for John Size after a two run prep in the Summer to start his career, both coming at Sha Tin where he placed on debut before a down the track effort. He looks to have trialled up well and despite the gate, I say he’s in the mix as a threat.
Race 7. (23:45) Rhine Handicap (Class 3) 1650m
5 Flying Fortress (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) seems the way to go. He’s racing really well at present, his latest run being four weeks ago at this track/distance when placing after sitting off speed and working home strongly. Only has to hold his form and I say he’s the one to beat.
6 Lucky Touch (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is three weeks between runs since racing at this track/distance. He got into a good spot in transit and tried had but had to settle for a second to Keefy. Tricky gate, but is racing well and with a drag into the race, he should be around the mark.
1 M Unicorn (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) ran down the track in the Keefy race mentioned above. He got into a tricky spot from the wide gate and couldn’t come on, finishing down the track. Maps to get a much better run this time around and his best is good enough.
Race 8. (00:15) Garonne Handicap (Class 4) 1650m
6 Swagger Bro (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is running out of chances but I am going to give him one last chance here. I liked him two weeks ago over 1200m here but he just got too far out of his ground and although he made up decent headway, he was never really a winning threat. He’s racing like a rise in trip will suit and for mine, he’ll do me each way.
1 The Azure (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is flying for Frankie Lor and has to be respected. Four weeks between runs since a track/distance win where he got a peach ride by Purton and in a driving go, he finished best to score. Loses Purton but he is a very genuine animal that commands respect.
3 Sky Vino (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is five weeks between runs since racing at this track/distance. He attempted to lead throughout and gave a decent kick from the front but just couldn’t quite see it through when third to Happy Daily. Good racing style and is dangerous if he gets front end control.
Race 9. (00:50) Seine Handicap (Class 3) 1200m
10 Goko Win (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) will do me in the last. He broke a long run of outs three weeks ago at this track/distance at Class 4 level, giving them a start and a beating despite not using gate one to advantage. He has that gate again but I do think if he is to measure up, he has to use it to advantage.
3 Spicy Gold (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) commands respect. He ran third to Happy Fat Cat four weeks ago at this track/distance where he got into a decent spot in transit and tried hard but just couldn’t quite finish the job. Tricky gate to overcome, but has to be respected here I say.
5 Sports Legend (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is five weeks between runs since racing over 1000m here. He did early work to land on speed and did try hard but just felt the pinch late behind Horsepower. Tick over trial here was quite good and up to 1200m is a big tick. Threat for sure.
