Nine races have been set down for Happy Valley this Wednesday night, with good depth across the program.

Race 1. (21:40) Speedy Handicap (Class 4) 1000m
1 Lean Master (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) on top in what looks an open race to start the meeting. He ran over this track/distance two weeks ago when off speed and worked home okay after doing early work from the wide gate. Maps to settle on speed and with the claim, takes running down.
2 Super Sixty (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) ran second in the race mentioned above, won by Parents Love. He was on speed throughout and seemingly had his chance but stuck on really well in defeat. Similar run here you’d think, he’ll be around the mark.
7 Conrad The Great (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a son of Deep Field that resumes for Douglas Whyte. He didn’t set the world on fire in his debut back in June but has been given a good break and his trial work to get ready for the return has been more than encouraging, so watch the market and see what it does.
Race 2. (22:10) Success Handicap (Class 5) 1200m
7 Woodfire Champ (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) gets the nod. He resumed several weeks ago at this track/distance where he got just off the speed from the tricky draw and tried hard but first up, condition just gave way. Better for the run, gets a sweet trip from the gate, he’s the straight bat play.
5 Noble Deluxe (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) has raced at Sha Tin his past couple and hasn’t been too bad, the latest being over 1200m last Sunday when third He Was You. If he can overcome the tricky gate, he’ll be around the mark I’m sure.
6 Happy Horse (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a son of Zoustar that resumes. He hasn’t set the world on fire in his career to date, and was poor in his lone run last prep, but he has looked to trial well for the return so I’d watch betting.
Race 3. (22:40) Swifty Handicap (Class 4) 1200m
3 Gastronomique (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) looks one of the better bets on the card. He was a real eye catcher on debut at Sha Tin over 1200m, getting a fair way out of his ground but loved the way he closed his race off in defeat. If he can settle closer and be within range, he’ll take holding out.
12 Patch Of Watch (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) comes back to 1200m after attempting to lead throughout over 1400m at Sha Tin. He gave a reasonable kick from the front but just couldn’t quite see it through and felt the pinch late. If he gets front end control, he’ll take running down.
11 Majestic Delight (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is an interesting runner. David Eustace trained gelding that resumes. He hasn’t set the world on fire but on occasions has teased and he hasn’t looked too bad in trial work. First four threat.
Race 4. (23:10) Swifty Handicap (Class 4) 1200m
4 Rising Phoenix (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) for me. He has done his recent racing at Sha Tin and while he hasn’t won, he has been far from disgraced each time he has stepped out, the latest seeing him getting back and making up ground without threatening. Hoping for a positive ride, can settle forward, hard to beat.
9 King Oberon (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a few weeks between runs since racing over this trip at Sha Tin. He attempted to lead throughout and gave a decent kick from the front but just felt the pinch late when fourth. He’ll be hard to run down if he lands on speed without using too many petrol tickets.
3 Denfield (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is third up from a spell and should just about be at peak fitness. He ran over this track/distance last start where he got too far out of his ground but didn’t mind the way he finished his race off in defeat. If within range, he has the finale to be dangerous.
Race 5. (23:40) Racing Spirit Handicap (Class 4) 1650m
1 Quantum Patch (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is hard to beat here I say. He ran over this track/distance two weeks ago when off speed and kept chasing in a good effort in defeat when third to Sturdy Ruby. Good track/distance record, kind map, he’s the way I am going.
12 Super Sicario (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is two weeks between runs since racing at this track/distance when placing behind Mighty Steed. He got off speed and had his chance but battled away really well in defeat. Racing in career best form and commands respect.
8 Turin Warrior (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a Not A Single Doubt trained gelding that resumes. This guy is first up, having not raced since July 9 at this track/distance when wide no cover and dropped out to finish down the track. Likely spots them a start but will be strong late.
Race 6. (00:10) The Longines Cup (Class 2) 1000m
4 Superb Capitalist (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) has to be top seed after his electric return here a few weeks ago, producing good change up speed from off the pace to win impressively. Good test here but off the return, he has to be the one to beat I say.
2 Horsepower (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a son of Harry Angel that resumes for Frankie Lor. He resumes, having not raced since June 28 down the straight at Sha Tin when down the track behind Beauty Waves, who was flying at the time. Trial work has been strong and good lead that Purton sticks.
6 Stellar Express (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is an improver at odds. He resumed a few weeks back down the straight at Sha Tin when a bit on the plain side, never really threatening behind Wonderstar. Good track/distance record, maps to do no work, he’s dangerous at odds.
Race 7. (00:40) Swifty Handicap (Class 4) 1200m
8 Silver Spurs (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) will jump on the bunny and take running down for Caspar Fownes. Resumed with a strong win over 1000m here before racing at this track/distance when leading and he gave a strong sight from the front but was nailed late. Has that 1200m run under the belt, in well after the claim, he’ll do me.
4 Sight Happy (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is on the seven day back up after racing last Wednesday at this track/distance when off speed and tried hard but just couldn’t quite get there when fourth. Hard fit, maps to get a sweet run in transit and be effective late.
1 Grand Nova (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) ran over this track/distance two weeks back. He attempted to lead throughout but was a beaten horse at the top of the straight, finishing down the track. Tricky draw, but has a good racing style and this isn’t a deep contest.
Race 8. (01:15) Songs Of Victory Handicap (Class 3) 1650m
5 South Star (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) should be beating this lot. He resumed over 1400m at Sha Tin a few weeks ago when on speed and tried hard but first up, he couldn’t quite get there when a narrow second to Beauty Crescent. Maps perfect, rising to the mile is fine…keen.
3 Star Contact (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is third up from a spell and should be at peak fitness. He ran over this track/distance a fortnight back where he got stuck wide for the trip, doing work, and just felt the pinch late behind Viva Graciousness. Maps much better this time around, he’ll run an improved race.
7 Rising From Ashes (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a few weeks between runs racing over the mile on the dirt at Sha Tin. He got back off speed and worked home well but was never really threatening behind Mojave Desert. Good track/distance record, he’s a must for exotics.
Race 9. (01:50) Flying Handicap (Class 3) 1200m
11 Superb Boy (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) each way in the get out. Very forgiving of his first up run at Sha Tin when wide no cover for the trip and the hard run just told on him late when down the track. Maps to get a much better run in transit and he strikes a winnable race.
8 Akashvani (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) has his first look at Happy Valley but has a touch of quality about him. He sat on speed a few weeks ago at Sha Tin and was there to win but just couldn’t quite finish the job behind Kempes. He has quality, good racing style, can threaten.
4 Triumphant More (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a few weeks between runs since racing over this trip at Sha Tin when on speed and seemingly had his chance but just couldn’t quite finish the job. Not sure he wins, but a kind map, he can run top four.
