The post draw for Friday’s (USA-ET) Grade 1 Longines Kentucky Oaks was conducted a short while ago in eerily quiet scenes at Churchill Downs, as the seemingly never-ending effect of the Covid19 pandemic, once again reminded us of that world that is in the year 2020, as usually, Gand Ball Room under the Twin Spires at Churchill Downs would be buzzing with excitement and anticipation in front of a full house, but this year as is going to be the case at Churchill Downs on race day, the ceremony was closed to the public with only a handful of racing officials and media commentators in attendance.
9 horses will contest the 146th Kentucky Oaks in 2020 on Friday (North American time), at a post time of 5pm ET (USA). The Oaks will be race number 12 on a massive 13 race program to start the 2020 Kentucky Derby Festival, which reaches its climax on Saturday with “the greatest two minutes in sport”, the Kentucky Derby sponsored by Woodford Reserve.
It looked a match race before the post draw between Gamine and Swiss Skydiver, and afterwards, nothing has changed in the eyes of the oddsmakers at least, which is very much reflected in the opening morning line odds courtesy of twinspires.com
