Nine races will be run and won at Happy Valley this Wednesday night, where the depth looks pretty good across the program.

I like 1 Courier Magic (Bet Now:  $SP.00) in the opener. He hasn’t raced since July 9 over this track/distance when off speed but worked home with purpose late when third. Given the break, looks to have trialled well, one of the hardest to beat in what looks an open contest.

2 Ninja Derby (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has to overcome the wide gate but there was plenty to piglike about his first up win over the mile at Sha Tin when leading throughout and he didn’t give his rivals a look in. Should press forward and prove to be one of the leading contenders.

6 Foremost Teddy (Bet Now:  $SP.00) was hard in the market when resuming at this track/distance on Sep 10 and he seemed to have his chance I thought, just whacking to the line. I think with a more patient steer, he can run a much improved race.

2 Northern Beast (Bet Now:  $SP.00) seems the straight bat play. I want to be forgiving of his last start flop at Sha Tin given it was a strong Class 4, it was 1800m…he was never really a factor. Much better suited at the Happy Valley, he maps ideally and the big tick is Zac Purton on.

3 Chain Of Gold (Bet Now:  $SP.00) will be strong late, as seen on Sep 10 at this track/distance when a fair way out of his ground and while he was never a winning threat, he was good late behind Viva Graciousness. Dangeeous if within range on the turn.

7 Prince Alex (Bet Now:  $SP.00) was an eye catcher first up at this track/distance before going to the 1800m last start where he was okay but I don’t think he saw out the trip. Much better suited at the mile and can run a much improved race at odds.

10 Rewarding Buddy (Bet Now:  $SP.00) looks a great each way gamble here. Sneaky good return from him a few weeks ago at this track/distance where he got back to near last in the run and while he was never threatening, he did close off well. He maps to stalk Dancing Classics if he can use the inside gate to advantage and I think he’ll run a beauty.

1 Dancing Classics (Bet Now:  $SP.00) looks the likely leader and from there, is hard to beat. He resumed over 1200m at Sha Tin where he was near the speed and tried hard but just couldn’t quite go on with it. Better suited here, looks the leader, key chance.

2 Salute King Prawn (Bet Now:  $SP.00) comes back to 1200m after debuting over 1400m at Sha Tin where he was near last in the run, he was raw and new to the caper, and was never really a factor. Not sure he wins, but back in depth, he could be a sneaky first four prospect.

12 Golden Friendship (Bet Now:  $SP.00) steps up to 1200m after a first up second over 1000m here when on speed and he gave a strong kick but had to settle for a close up second. Despite the defeat, he rises to Class 4, but honestly, it may as well be a Class 5, so I say he’s hard to beat.

2 The Perfect Match (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is several weeks between runs since resuming at this track/distance when off speed and worked home well when second. Better for the run, kind map, he’s one of the hardest to beat.

5 Great Looking (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a son of All Too Hard that resumes. He hasn’t raced since his debut back in June at Sha Tin where he was raw and new, never really a factor. Given a good break, trial work has been encouraging, watch the market.

7 Youth Power (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is several weeks between runs since resuming at this track/distance when attempting to lead throughout and he gave a strong kick from the front but just couldn’t quite see it through behind Viva Graciousness. Good racing style, fitter, he will take running down.

6 Smart City (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a son of Lonhro that resumes. He is first up, having not raced since July 9 over this track/distance when on speed and tried hard but just couldn’t quite see it through. Tricky draw but should press forward and be around the mark.

2 Star Glow (Bet Now:  $SP.00) steps up to the mile after resuming over 1200m here when off speed and failed to come on in a plain finale. The rise in trip I find interesting but his best is more than good enough.

3 Tourbillon Golfer (Bet Now:  $SP.00) looks one of the better bets on the card. All three career runs have come at Sha Tin, first up being over 1200m when attempting to lead throughout and he gave a strong kick but just felt the pinch late. Should find the top here and prove extremely hard to get past.

5 Mr Desira (Bet Now:  $SP.00) steps up to 1200m after resuming down the straight at Sha Tin over 1000m when leading and he looked the winner when asked but was nabbed late. Good racing style, 1200m should be okay, leading chance.

2 Star Performer (Bet Now:  $SP.00) gets Blinkers first time for Mark Newnham after racing over this trip at Sha Tin when off speed and just whacked in the run to the line. If the Blinkers can sharpen him up, he’s dangerous at odds.

5 Lo Rider (Bet Now:  $SP.00) steps up to 1800m after a first up win over the mile here a few weeks ago, getting the beaut run in transit before angling clear and knuckled down with purpose late to win and win well. Extra 150m should be fine, he’s one of the hardest to beat.

9 Jumbo Legend (Bet Now:  $SP.00) was the eye catcher behind Lo Rider in the race mentioned above. He got a fair way out of his ground but worked home with real purpose in a good effort in defeat. If he can use the inside gate and settle closer, he’s dangeeous for sure.

4 Helene Feeling (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has a fab record at Happy Valley and the 1800m so I say he’s an improver at odds. He resumed over the mile on the Sha Tin dirt and was never a factor. Much better suited here, he’s one of the leading contenders if he brings his best.

1 Storm Rider (Bet Now:  $SP.00) comes back to Happy Valley after resuming over this trip at Sha Tin. He got back to near last in the run but was good late without threatening. Like him back to Happy Valley and if within range, he has the finale to take this out.

2 Le Forza (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a slight query at 1200m but with his racing style, he’ll give himself every chance. He resumed over 1000m here when leading and giving a strong kick from the front but tired late when third. If he gets front end control, he could prove hard to get past.

10 Thriving Brothers (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is on the seven day back up after resuming over this track/distance last Wednesday night where not much went right for him and he was never really a factor. Better for the run, his best is good enough to be a threat.

8 Excellence Value (Bet Now:  $SP.00) should prove hard to beat after resuming over the mile here three weeks ago. He got off speed and kept chasing in a definite pass mark behind Rocket Spade. Fitter and up in trip, can settle closer, hard to hold out.

6 Wrote A New Page (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is racing well and is a key threat after racing over this trip at Sha Tin when near the speed and trying hard but just couldn’t quite get there. Tricky draw, but commands respect.

5 Romantic Laos (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is several weeks between runs since resuming over the mile here. He got into a decent spot in transit near the speed but just couldn’t quite finish the race off. Not sure he is good enough to win but he can run top four.
