1/7/2025 Horse Racing Tips and Best Bets – Sha Tin

Ten races will be run and won at Sha Tin on Tuesday, with good depth across the program.

7 Super Hong Kong (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is the straight bat play for me in the opener. He ran over 2000m here just under two weeks ago. He got back to near last from the wide gate and while he was never a winning threat, I really liked the way he closed his race off in defeat behind Golden Fairy. Back in trip is fine and maps to settle much closer in the run.

11 Gold Tack (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is suited at 1800m here I feel. He was 1800m back to the mile last start when off speed and kept chasing with purpose in a good effort in defeat behind Smart Beauty. Like him back up in trip and he does get Purton aboard.

2 Go Go Go (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is third up from a spell and should just about be at peak fitness. He was second up last start over 2200m at Happy Valley. He seemingly had a decent run in transit but just whacked in the run to the line. Good grounding for this…not sure he wins but a first four contender.

8 Robot Lucky Star (Bet Now:  $SP.00) on top, and clearly. He is a son of Hellbent that is on debut. He looked to trial well in Australia when trained by Greg Hickman before being sent here, where he has had two trials and each time he has looked sharp. Drawn the right part of the track, I am keen on his prospects to make a winning debut.

7 Mr Desira (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is an All Too Hard gelding that is on debut for Casper Fownes. He has had extensive trial work to get ready for start one, where he has looked strong for the most part, certainly well enough to say a win at start one can be achieved. Watch betting.

4 Extreme Bomb (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is another first starter here that creates interest. Toronado gelding that has had extensive trial work here as well to prepare. Hasn’t quite set the world on fire in recent times, but is drawn well for the straight course and is bred to be strong late. Watch betting.

Landed with 4 Mighty Steed (Bet Now:  $SP.00) but not really a race I want to get involved in. His recent runs have come at this track/distance, the latest run being on June 14 when getting a decent run in transit and was there to threaten but couldn’t quite finish his race off when fourth. He finds a thin race, he maps ideally…he goes on top, but not a whole lot of confidence.

1 Fortunate Son (Bet Now:  $SP.00) comes back to Class 4 grade after recent runs at Class 3 where he has run okay without really threatening. Close up thrid two back but last start, he was plain and disappointing, so like him back to Class 4, back to 1400m and on the bigger track, he’s a big improver.

6 China Win (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a son of Super Seth that is on debut for David Hayes. His trial work hasn’t been too bad to my eye, the latest trial being a close up fifth over 1000m here and moved well enough so I say watch betting and see what it does.

2 Lunar Dash (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has to overcome the wide gate but I do think he is the one to beat after his debut at this track/distance several weeks ago where he got on speed and was there to win but just lacked the polish to get the job done when a close up third to Perfectday. Think with a positive ride, he’s the one.

1 Wonderstar (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is the key threat. He attempted to lead throughout in the race mentioned above, giving a strong kick from the front but just couldn’t quite see it through, nabbed lat eby Perfectday. If he gets front end control, he takes running down.

3 Brownneedsfurther (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a son of Needs Further that is on debut for David Hall. His trial work to get ready for start one hasn’t been too bad, his latest piece of work seeing him run second over 1000m here, and moved well enough. Maps well, he is in the mix.

4 Light Years Charm (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a potential star so keen to see how he goes here. He has won his past two, both at this track/distance. Latest win was on June 8 where he gave them a start and a beating, producing a brilliant finale to score. The gate is tricky but with a drag into the race, I think he’ll be miles too good.

3 Young Champion (Bet Now:  $SP.00) ran third to Light Years Charm in the race mentioned above. He got off speed and kept finding the line but did have his chance and was on the line held by the smart winner. Maps ideally…doubt he turns the tables but runs well regardless.

5 Soleil Fighter (Bet Now:  $SP.00) tends to race better at Happy Valley vs here but he is a model of consistency. He has placed his last ten, with three wins. Latest run saw him run third at Happy Valley in a strong Class 2 behind Hong Lok Golf. Maps ideally…first four threat.

6 Emblazon (Bet Now:  $SP.00) for me. He debuted over 1200m here on May 31 where he got back to near last in the run and while he was never a winning threat, I really liked the way he finished his race off in defeat behind Matters Most. Tricky draw, but if he can get a drag into the race and be within range, has the finale to take this out.

9 Ka Ying Radiance (Bet Now:  $SP.00) should be better for the debut run, which came here at this trip on June 8. He was wide throughout from the gate and the hard run just told on him late in the piece when down the track. The good lead that Purton sticks so he commands respect.

3 Bright Day (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has had a couple of runs at 1200m and is racing like 1400m will be ideal. He ran over 1200m here on June 8 where he just lacked the change up speed to go with them but wasn’t too bad late in the piece. Like him back up in trip, a first four contender.

6 Majestic Express (Bet Now:  $SP.00) on top. John Size trained gelding that won his first race down the straight here back on June 8, getting stronger and better as the race went on to win impressively. He has found that winning feeling again and for mine, is the one to beat.

3 La Forza (Bet Now:  $SP.00) ran down the track in the Majestic Express race. He was off speed and seemed to have his chance but was quite plain late in the piece, with the vet finding nothing. Good lead that Zac sticks and he has trialled super prior.

7 Super Fortune (Bet Now:  $SP.00) comes here with fresh legs, having not raced since May 25 down the straight here. He was tardy away and that sealed his fate I thought, finishing down the track behind Stellar Express. Good overall record at the track/distance, I am not dismissing him.

7 Quick Contribution (Bet Now:  $SP.00) each way for me. He is racing like a rise to the mile will be ideal, with his last run being over 1400m here where he got a mile back in the run but really liked the way he closed his race off in defeat. If within range, he has the finale to take this out.

1 Mr Cool (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a slight query at 1600m but he does look the most progressive of this bunch. He ran over 1400m here on May 31 when off speed and worked to the line well enough but seemingly had his chance behind Dazzling Fit. That form reads well. Just needs to overcome the gate.

10 Sight Supreme (Bet Now:  $SP.00) looks much better suited at Sha Tin vs Happy Valley. His last couple of runs have come over the mile at Happy Valley, the latest run seeing him off speed and just whacked in the run to the line behind Smart City. Not sure he wins, but is a first four contender.

Landed with 6 Pakistan Legacy (Bet Now:  $SP.00). He comes here with fresh legs, having not raced since May 18 at this track/distance. He got into a decent spot behind the speed and tried hard but just couldn’t quite get involved behind Moduleconstruction. Lands in a plum spot from the gate and strikes a winnable race.

2 Infinite Resolve (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is an interesting horse. He made his Hong Kong debut on May 31 at this track/distance. He got near the speed and was there to win but condition perhaps just gave out late in the piece. The gate is tricky but with good upside, he appeals.

1 Savvy Brilliant (Bet Now:  $SP.00) comes through the same race that Infinite Resolve contested, won by Masterofmyuniverse. He was keen in the run, got back, and was just never really a factor when down the track, but had excuses. Hard fit now, his best is good enough.

4 Flying Luck (Bet Now:  $SP.00) each way for me in the get out. Casper Fownes trained gelding that was six weeks between runs when racing over this track/distance. He got back to near last in the run and was a real eye catcher late in the piece behind Tourbillon Prince. Fitter, in well after the claim, maps to settle closer…hard to beat at a price.

3 Yuen Long Elite (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has a horror draw to overcome but is racing well. He is a few weeks between runs since racing over 1400m here. He landed near the speed and tried hard but just couldn’t quite see it through when third to Ka Ying Attack. 1600m is a query but he is progressive.

6 Eighty Light Years (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a few weeks between runs since racing over 1400m here. He attempted to lead throughout and gave a strong kick from the front but just couldn’t quite see it through. I think with a more patient steer, 1600m is fine, and he’s good enough to win.
