It has been a tumultuous time for Godolphin’s Australian operation and it was made worse this week when stable foreman Darren Beadman was reportedly stood down.
A divide between Beadman and head trainer James Cummings has reportedly ended in the former group 1-winning jockey and trainer being stood down from duties for a week.
The Sydney Morning Herald reported the news on Wednesday, stating the possible rift in the successful partnership was caused following an incident between Cummings and Beadman last week.
Godolphin’s racing manager, Jason Walsh, said on Sunday that Beadman was on leave after he had been carrying a heavy load due to Cummings being away, while all Beadman would offer was a firm “no comment”.
Since John O’Shea left as the head trainer of Godolphin in Australia, it has been a rough time for the organisation. Retained jockey James McDonald was suspended for his involvement in a betting scandal and managing director Henry Plumptre left due to a “serious bullying issue”.
Darren Beadman was trusted with taking over from O’Shea for three months before James Cummings was appointed and he was able to win the Group 1 Stradbroke Handicap with Impending during that brief time.
Their relationship has reportedly been strained since Cummings took over the job, but Beadman has regularly been the face of the organisation on race day.
