Group 1 winner Vibrant Sun and Perth stakes winner Toropa headlined a record-breaking Magic Millions Digital Sale, helping drive turnover beyond $1.65 million.
Strong domestic and international demand saw the sale return a clearance rate of 74 per cent and an average price of $21,742, with the unreserved dispersals from Geisel Park Stud and Hesket Thoroughbreds also attracting significant interest.
Vibrant Sun, a daughter of The Autumn Sun and winner of the Group 1 Australasian Oaks, topped proceedings when selling for $465,000 to Garryard Equine after attracting 104 bids.
During her racing career, Vibrant Sun won three races including the Australasian Oaks and the Group 3 Alexandra Stakes at Moonee Valley.
She is one of two winners from two runners produced by the Group-winning Written Tycoon mare Vibrant Rouge.
“The team at Magic Millions made selling our mare Vibrant Sun really easy,” vendor Sheamus Mills said.
“I felt they left no stone unturned in canvassing the market and that’s the highest compliment you can give when you entrust anyone to sell on your behalf.”
Toropa was the second-highest priced lot, selling for $360,000 to China Horse Club.
The daughter of Toronado won the Listed Jungle Dawn Classic among seven career victories and earned more than $360,000 in prizemoney.
“We are sad to see her go but we are ecstatic by the amount of competition on her,” Amelia Park Racing and Breeding manager Sharon King said.
“From the day the sale went live I was inundated with calls and I know the Magic Millions team were too as they came and inspected her for several prospective buyers.”
China Horse Club’s Australasian manager Michael Smith confirmed Toropa would join the club’s broodmare band before visiting champion sire Extreme Choice this spring.
“I went and saw Toropa at Amelia Park and was quite taken by her,” Smith said.
“She’s a gun physical with a lovely pedigree and could really gallop.
“We’re delighted to get her and she will join China Horse Club’s broodmare band at The Chase and visit Extreme Choice this season.”
The Geisel Park Stud unreserved dispersal was highlighted by stakes-performed mare Duchess Of Gossip, who sold for $145,000, while Helmet mare Rosebank was purchased by Brae Sokolski for $80,000.
“Many thanks to the Magic Millions Digital team for all their efforts in promoting the sale, and to the many people who got in touch and visited the farm to inspect the horses,” Geisel Park stud manager Conor Dunlop said.
“As we all know, sales like these have a habit of producing top horses, so to everyone who purchased from us, we wish you the very best and sincerely hope you enjoy plenty of success with your new acquisitions.”
Hesket Thoroughbreds also enjoyed strong results, with a breeding right in Bivouac selling for $65,000 to Momentum Horse Farm and Light Romance, in foal to So You Think, selling for $60,000 to North Star Park Thoroughbreds.
“We would like to sincerely thank Bryce and Magic Millions Digital for facilitating a successful week of trading in our Hesket Thoroughbreds Reduction Sale,” David Moodie said.
“We are grateful for the strong support shown by buyers and the professionalism of the Magic Millions team throughout the process. The results speak for themselves!”
