Last night the folks at Racing Australia imposed a 1kg penalty on brilliant Manion Cup winner YOUNG RASCAL for the upcoming Sydney Cup.
The visiting British staying star was so tough, so gallant and so brave coming off the deck to win the Gr 3 race last Saturday at his very first Aussie start.
He will now carry 56kg in the $2million Sydney Cup slated, hopefully, for 11 April.
Last Saturday Young Rascal (Intello-Rock My Soul) came back after being joined by MUGATOO to win the 2400m by a neck.
In the Gr 1 Sydney Cup he now meets Mugatoo 51kg on the same weight variance. There was 5kg between them last Saturday.
Back in 3rd spot last Saturday was SUPERNOVA who defied the track bias and made great, impressive, steady ground late to grab 3rd. However, he actually meets Young Rascal 1.5kg worse off, even with the winner receiving the 1kg penalty.
Meanwhile, Young Rascal’s stablemate ADDEYBB (Pivotal-Bush Cat) who brilliantly, and eerily won the Gr 1 Ranvet Stakes in a similar, fighting back off the canvas way, beating VERRY ELLEEGANT, has stormed to favouritism for the Gr 1 Queen Elizabeth Stakes, 2000m.
That race will be run on 11 April also. Verry Elleegant is out to $9 for that race with Sportsbet.
She is also expected race this Saturday in the Gr 1 Tancred Stakes also.
