A colt out of Australian mare Yankee Rose by Japanese sire Lord Kanaloa has sold for a breathtaking $4.49 million AUD in Japan.
The colt was purchased by Danox Co. Ltd, the owners of star galloper Danon Premium who ran third in last year’s G1 Queen Elizabeth Stakes (2000m) at Randwick behind Addeybb and Verry Elleegant.
Yankee Rose, who was a barigain $10,000 purchase by Darby Racing and trained by Gary Portelli, has now produced two million-dollar foals following the sale of her Deep Impact filly for $2.74 million two years ago.
Yankee Rose placed in the 2016 Cox Plate behind Winx and Hartnell and finished second in the G1 Golden Slipper before going on to win the G1 Spring Champion Stakes.
Yankee Rose has yet to produce a horse who has raced.
