Champion mare Winx has returned with a super impressive trial at Randwick racecourse this morning where she was hard held throughout and ran third.
After settling her last in Monday’s 900m-heat, Hugh Bowman took her to the outside in the straight and she went up a gear over the final 200 metres.
The trial was won by two-year-old Diamond Tathagata who beat Comin’ Through by a short half head with Winx another 1-1/4 lengths away.
Winx has returned after her dominant Autumn carnival in impressive order and will look to have one more trial in two weeks time before she resumes in the Group 2 Warwick Stakes with the main aim being the 2017 Cox Plate.
