A stewards’ inquiry involving Grant and Alana Williams has been adjourned after their legal representatives requested additional time to complete an expert report ahead of further proceedings.
The matter had been due to resume on April 21 to hear a plea relating to a charge issued on January 29 under AR240(2), however the request for more time resulted in the hearing being postponed.
Racing and Wagering Western Australia stewards had previously supplied additional material sought by the trainers’ legal team in February, including analytical data from both laboratories, which was provided on March 19.
Stewards have indicated the inquiry is now expected to resume no later than May 29, with any expert reports intended to be relied upon required to be submitted by May 12.
The case forms part of ongoing regulatory proceedings that have involved extensive submissions and the exchange of evidentiary material between both parties.
Separately, a ruling from the Racing Penalties Appeal Tribunal concerning the suspension of the trainers’ licences is still pending, with a stay of proceedings remaining in place under Local Rule 22.
