‘Delighted to announce that in conjunction with @BallymoreStabls we have secured high class European G1 winner Alenquer to race in Australia. Heads south next month to aim for the Sydney autumn carnival.’
That tweet from Paul Moroney confirmed that trainer Mike Moroney would have the newly purchased Group 1 winner in his stable armoury when he attacks the Sydney Carnival next year … and a great addition it should be with Alenquer already being a five-time winner, including that win in the Group 1 Tattersalls Gold Cup at the Curragh in which he defeated, amongst others, the 2021 winner Cox Plate winner State Of Rest.
Mike Moroney, clearly thrilled with the purchase, told racing.com … “We’re over the moon that we’ve got him, especially at the price we were able to secure him. We were in the right place at the right time.”
“He’s a lovely strong and balanced horse, certainly with a bit of class. He’ll enter quarantine over there on Monday and then after two weeks there he’ll quarantine here so we’ll have him in the stable before Christmas,” concluded Moroney.
