Watch: Boom NZ 3YO Catalyst misses jump still wins easily

Boom three-year-old gelding Catalyst has overcome a slow start to still win easily at Ellerslie in the Mr Tiz Trophy.

Catalyst who had opened at $1.60 with some bookmakers was crunched into $1.10 at start time and those who took the early price would have been a bit worried early in the race after the boom gelding missed the jump and sat last for a majority of the race.

Catalyst will now be taken to Australia and targeted at the G1 Australian Derby at Flemington and the $5m All Star Mile if he is able to secure a spot in the race.

Catalyst puts on a show at Ellerslie. Misses kick and settles last, they go last 600m in 33.9 off front and he jogs past them.
I ask Troy Harris if he was nervous after the start: “you don’t get nervous on horses with ability like this one”.
Next stop Melbourne in two weeks.
