Victoria’s Southside Racing has unveiled the confirmed roster of slot holders for the second edition of its two marquee slot races, The Meteorite and The Supernova.
Both events will again be run for $1 million in prizemoney, with The Meteorite (1200m) taking place on Cranbourne Cup day on November 22, while the 1400-metre Supernova will be staged on Pakenham Cup day on December 13. Each race is open to horses aged three and up under set weights and penalties and follows the increasingly popular slot race format made famous by The Everest and The Quokka.
Southside Racing’s general manager of racing, Alastair Dwyer, said the momentum generated by last year’s debut running had established a strong foundation for the series.
“The success of last year’s inaugural series has set the stage for something even bigger in 2025. We’re thrilled to welcome an exceptional line-up of slot holders once again, representing the very best of racing talent, ownership, and enthusiasm from across Australia,” he said.
A wide range of leading industry participants have committed to the 2025 renewal, including Lindsay Park, Moody Racing, Ciaron Maher Racing, Yulong and Sheamus Mills Bloodstock. They will stand alongside Cape Schanck Racing, Carl Holt, Cavallo Park, Ladbrokes, Lofty Thoroughbred Group, Moonee Valley Racing Club, OTI Racing, Southside Racing and The 308 Group.
Each slot holder retains the ability to select their representative(s) for both races, with the flexibility to either nominate a single horse for both features or choose separate contenders for The Meteorite and The Supernova.
