Super Cash will line-up in Friday nights Manikato Stakes

Trainer Andrew Noblet and jockey Katelyn Mallyon will team up again in pursuit of more feature sprint race success with Super Cash in the Manikato Stakes.

Super Cash is set to line up in Friday night’s $1 million Manikato (1200m) at Moonee Valley, the venue where Mallyon rode the Noblet-trained Silent Sedition to victory in the Group One William Reid Stakes in March.

Mallyon also has a couple of Group Two wins on Super Cash in this year’s Rubiton Stakes at Caulfield and the recent Schillaci Stakes.

Silent Sedition’s William Reid success was a Group One breakthrough for both trainer and jockey.

Super Cash had been scheduled to resume in the Group One Moir Stakes at Moonee Valley last month, won by She Will Reign, but was balloted out.

Instead she returned in the Schillaci Stakes and beat Illustrious Lad by a short head.

Noblet took Super Cash to Moonee Valley for a familiarisation gallop on Saturday morning ahead of the Manikato Stakes 2017.

“She went there for more of a stretch and to have a look at the place,” Noblet said.

“She wasn’t out there to do much but she had a nice little gallop around there and came through it well.”

Noblet said Super Cash did a great job first-up and was thrilled with the way the mare had trained on.

“She had to dig deep at the end and she got the job done,” he said.

“She came through it really well. It was probably the best she has bounced through a run, especially first-up.

“She’ll go there on Friday night and if she’s not good enough, she’s not good enough. But she’s probably in the best nick she has been in for a while.”

Noblet believes Super Cash has the ability to snare a Group One sprint, it just depends where and when.

“She may be just a bit below the Vega Magics and that sort of thing, but she’s not far off them I don’t think,” he said.

The trainer rated Vega Magic, a last-start second in The Everest, as the horse to beat.

Acceptances are taken on Tuesday.
