Godolphin has confirmed that star performers Tentyris and Observer will retire to stud in 2026, joining the Darley stallion roster following a standout season for the global powerhouse.
The duo were key contributors to a campaign that has already produced 30 Stakes victories, including 11 at Group 1 level.
Tentyris (Street Boss) bows out as arguably the premier sprinting colt of his generation. As a juvenile, he claimed the Group 2 Todman Stakes and finished runner-up in the Group 1 Blue Diamond Stakes, before returning at three to dominate at the elite level.
He etched his name into the record books with the fastest time ever recorded in the Group 1 Coolmore Stud Stakes, then added another major success in the Group 1 Lightning Stakes under weight-for-age conditions. In doing so, he became just the fourth three-year-old colt in the past 25 years to win the Lightning.
By Street Boss and out of an Exceed And Excel mare from the family of Divine Madonna, Tentyris boasts a pedigree similar to that of Anamoe. He will stand at Kelvinside in New South Wales at a service fee of $88,000 inc GST.
Observer (Ghaiyyath) also retires with an outstanding résumé, highlighted by Group 1 victories in the Australian Guineas and Victoria Derby.
A winner at metropolitan level as a two-year-old, Observer also captured the Group 2 Moonee Valley Vase and Group 2 Autumn Stakes. Successful across distances ranging from 1400m to 2500m, he retires with earnings of $2.7 million.
He becomes the best-performed son of Ghaiyyath to head to stud so far and carries a powerful pedigree, being out of a full sister to champion racehorse and sire Pierro. Observer will stand at Northwood Park in Victoria at a fee of $33,000 inc GST.
Godolphin Australia Managing Director Andy Makiv praised the collective effort behind the stable’s exceptional season.
“Tentyris and Observer are two of the best from our amazing three-year-old crop,” Makiv said.
“This season is a credit to everyone involved, from those on the farms to our people in the office, right through to the trainers and their staff.
“To be so competitive on the racetrack this season and win races like the Coolmore, Lightning, Guineas and Derby is something everyone at Godolphin should be very proud of.”
