Smart Missile, scratched at the barrier from the Golden Slipper, will be given a chance at redemption in this Saturday’s Group 1 AJC Sires Produce Stakes (1400m) at Randwick.
The controversial withdrawal of Smart Missile meant he had to successfully barrier trial in front of stewards at Randwick this morning.
He did that with ease, jumping out and cantering 100 metres.
Trainer Anthony Cummings confirmed that Smart Missile would line up in this Saturday’s race, where he is likely to start a pronounced favourite.
However, the biggest threat may come from within the family.
Impressive Schweppervescence winner Do You Think, trained by Anthony’s father Bart, will back up into the Sires Produce on Saturday.
Duncan Ramage, racing manager for owner Dato Tan Chin Nam, confirmed that Do You Think will run again on Saturday before hopefully pushing on to the Group 1 Champagne Stakes (1600m) on April 23.
Smart Missile and Do You Think are likely to meet a good field on Saturday, including the likes of Golden Slipper runners Shared Reflections (6th) and Hot Snitzel (12th), as well as Helmet, Uate, Triple Asset and Aerobatics.
Acceptances are taken on Wednesday morning.
