A quality line-up is set for the final Victorian Stakes event of the season, with the Group 3 Bletchingly Stakes (1200m) headlining Saturday’s racing at Caulfield.
Leading the field is Bennett Racing’s exciting sprinter Baraqiel, who returns after a strong jumpout win over Arkansaw Kid and Don’t Hope Do. Ben Allen will pilot the gelding from barrier one.
Bridal Waltz, a last-start winner over She’s An Artist at Flemington, will carry the minimum weight of 56kg and has drawn gate six with Ben Melham aboard.
New York Lustre, who stormed home for second behind In Flight in the Group 3 Sir John Monash Stakes, will jump from barrier seven, again partnered with Jamie Melham.
Trainer Mick Trotter saddles up Apache Song, resuming off a solid jumpout. She’ll jump from gate two with Blake Shinn in the saddle.
Yellow Sam and Recommendation, both in consistent form, have drawn barriers four and three respectively and round out a strong mid-field presence.
Meanwhile, James Cummings will be represented by three Godolphin runners in what is set to be his last Victorian Stakes day before moving on. Kin (barrier nine), Kallos (five), and Inhibitions (eight) complete a deep and evenly-matched field.
