Joe Pride has won his second Doncaster Mile after noted mudlark Sacred Choice stormed away to win easily.Sacred Choice ($8) defeated Love Conquers All ($8) by two lengths, with Queensland visitor Bold Glance ($41) a half length away in third.
Pride was elated by the win of his gallant mare.
“She’s underrated – even by myself – I mean, she came to us with the expectation that she’d win one or two races in town,” Pride said.
“I never thought she’d win two Group 1s, she’s not the most impressive mare to look at but she has a massive heart.”
“I just love this mare.”
The favourite More Joyous ($3) never looked likely, eventually weakening to finish 11th – eight and a quarter lengths behind Sacred Choice.
Sacred Choice’s second Group 1 win takes her prizemoney to $1 947 640.
She joins mares like Sunline and Emancipation as winners of the Doncaster Mile.
