The Magic Millions credentials of Moravia will be under the microscope when he steps out in a stakes assignment at Randwick.

A program designed to culminate in a Magic Millions raid will have its next instalment when smart sprinter Moravia lines up in the Razor Sharp Handicap at Randwick.

Trainer Michael Freedman gave the four-year-old a freshen-up following his sound fifth to Dragonstone in the Choisir Handicap (1100m) on Melbourne Cup day with the aim of having him at his peak for next month’s Gold Coast carnival.

“I’m working to a program to maybe culminate in going to the Magic Millions,” Freedman said.

“That was the reason he had a let-up and then came back in, but he never really went out of work.

“He will probably go to the Razor Sharp on Saturday and we’ll see how he goes. He could go up for the 1400-metre race on Magic Millions day if his form warranted.”

The $2 million Magic Millions Cup (1400m) is the target Freedman has in mind if Moravia can run to expectations at Randwick.

While the horse can be enigmatic, he has shown above average talent, twice Group placed at three in the San Domenico Stakes (1100m) and The Run To The Rose (1200m) and finishing fourth in the Gold Coast Guineas (1200m) in May at his first start as a gelding.

“He’s got a few tricks up his sleeve at times, but he is a pretty high-class horse when he’s on his game,” Freedman said.

Regan Bayliss has won the past two renewals of the Razor Sharp Handicap (1200m) aboard Recommendation and Sky Command and will partner Moravia from barrier two.

The feature summer sprint has attracted a final field of 12, headlined by Starlight Stakes winner Eagle Nest and Arrowfield 3YO Sprint runner-up Hedged.

Moravia is one of three Randwick acceptors for Freedman along with Bunker Hut in the Jack Ingham AO Handicap (1400m) and Yiska in the final race.
