Racing NSW set to announce $2m race on Melbourne Cup day

Racing NSW are set to announce the launch of a unique, new race – The Big Dance – to be run at Royal Randwick on Melbourne Cup day.

The Big Dance, carrying prizemoney of $2 million, will be run straight after the $8 million Melbourne Cup on Tuesday, 1 November 2022.

Racing NSW boss Peter V’landys has continually rattled the cages of those in Victoria and this is another bold move that’s sure to get tongues wagging.

Winners of 25 Country Cup races across New South Wales will be eligible to enter The Big Dance.

More details will be announced following a press conference on Wednesday morning.
