Queensland Racing Integrity Commission Stewards yesterday opened an inquiry into Sunshine Coast Trainer Paul Duncan to determine the circumstances around the suspected administration of a medication within one clear day to thoroughbred Galaxy Guru which was set to race at the Sunshine Coast.
Carrying out a stable inspection at the on course stables the Commission’s IIT Investigative Stewards reported the suspected injection prior to the commencement of yesterday’s Sunshine Coast race meeting.
Stewards were satisfied the gelding had been injected with a substance within one clear day of the race, and under AR254(2) scratched Galaxy Guru from Race 2.
Samples were taken from the horse for analysis and the results will form part of the evidence when the Stewards Inquiry resumes on a date to be fixed.
