Pride Of Jenni has shown an elevated temperature and minor blood abnormalities following her unplaced run in the Group 1 Memsie Stakes. Trainer Ciaron Maher revealed that blood tests indicated a possible minor virus, but the mare is already showing signs of improvement.
Maher remains optimistic that the setback won’t derail her spring campaign, stating, “It’s very minor.” He plans to give Pride Of Jenni a relaxed week for recovery, with a likely next target being the G2 Feehan Stakes (1600m) at The Valley on September 27.
Following her Memsie performance, Pride Of Jenni has drifted in futures markets, moving from $3 to $6 with bookmakers for the G1 King Charles III Stakes and from $4.40 to $8.50 for the Cox Plate. “The process now is recovery,” Maher added, emphasising the importance of rest and monitoring.
