Pride Of Jenni will not race on day two of The Championships at Randwick this Saturday, as confirmed by Ciaron Maherβs stable.
The decision comes after the seven-year-old mare, who won last year’s Queen Elizabeth Stakes in dominant fashion, raced flat in the Group 1 Australian Cup at Flemington.
Owner Tony Ottobre confirmed that the mare will now head for a brief break before targeting the Brisbane carnival, with the Doomben Cup and Q22 as her likely targets.
While she was nominated for both the Queen Elizabeth Stakes and Queen Of The Turf, the three-time Group 1 winner will not attempt to defend her Queen Elizabeth title this year.
