Reigning Australian Horse of the Year, Pride Of Jenni, is set to face her toughest test yet, with her return campaign expected to continue with a jumpout at Cranbourne on Monday morning.
Having rejoined Ciaron Maher’s stable in early February, Pride Of Jenni has now completed the three-month embargo imposed on her in November due to a bleeding ban.
Before being cleared to race, she must participate in an official trial, jumpout, or a 1000-metre gallop to the satisfaction of Racing Victoria stewards.
“She is really, really good actually,” Maher said.
“I’m happy with her condition and demeanor, and she will most likely have a jumpout next week.
“I’m pleased with her progress.”
While Maher has yet to confirm her first-up race, defending her All-Star Mile title appears unlikely, as the $2.5 million event is scheduled just five days after her planned jumpout.
Craig Newitt is expected to take the reins for the jumpout.
Online betting sites list Pride Of Jenni as a $15 chance for the All-Star Mile. The seven-year-old also holds nominations for the Queen Elizabeth Stakes and Queen of the Turf Stakes.
